Honestly I think if it’s a boy they’ll go with Graham for Billy Graham. But please let them go with Tozer instead for the T lmao
Okay, since its been confirmed that Seewald #4 is expected I'm going to guess Piper Grace for a girl. Don't ask me about a boy because all I know is that it'll be strange

Yeah I think the difference for me is that Jeremy seems to genuinely love Jinger and his daughters, whereas I don’t think J*sh could give less of a shit abt his family (which is very much narcissist behavior)
Which of the fundie husbands makes you think - Narcissist?
Definitely J*sh. I know a lot of people would say Jeremy too but I don’t get narcissism vibes from him as much, I just think he’s a very pretentious dumb person.

From the Unitarians I know they’re very much like mostly about being spiritual and that sort of thing rather than following the Bible literally (or even really at all in some cases) and they’re known for being very accepting. My friend (who was raised Unitarian) once explained it as they believe in the good parts of the Bible (love thy neighbor etc) but don’t take literally or follow the parts that are hateful.
If you go that way with using a Unitarian minister I’m sure you could discuss with them not wanting the ceremony to be Bible based, but it may appease some relatives (if that’s what you’re interested in) to know that some branch of Christianity is involved as an officiant (and they may not be super familiar with Unitarians so they may not realize how non-traditionally Christian they are)
ok I have another *wedding* question that I think this community especially could be helpful with:
when you are an ex-religious person, with ALL religious family, and have no other personal spiritual practices/religious connections to speak of…..what do you do about an officiant??
if it were just me and my fiance, i would just make a friend or family member get internet ordained, but my family and my fiance’s family are BOTH religious and would take a specifically non-christian officiant as a slight.
I honestly feel pretty strongly about not having an obviously christian ceremony, which I know is going to cause issues with my mother in law. So I’m just wondering what the most low-key, non-christian way to go about it would be. Any ideas?

My father was not really involved in the mormon church when he married my mother (which he was raised in and his entire family and most friends were part of) so for their officiant they had a Unitarian church person do it because that’s like. the liberal Christians (according to my mother the officiant was a gay woman leader that they knew) and that was “””christian””” enough to not slight his family but she didn’t mention religion or anything during the officiant speech which kept my parents happy and she wasn’t like hateful or bigoted (which was their main issue with Mormonism)

My greatest source of frustration in life is that every child’s name starts with -An EXCEPT for Aynjel (Angel) when that woulda been the easiest and most normal one to spell with -An 🤦🏼‍♀️
Have you heard of the fundie Karissa Collins? She has a bunch of kids whose names start with the letter A. All the girls initials are ABC and the boys initials are ACC. She likes to write loooong fb posts with a few bible verses thrown in. Her husband was her first kiss! I'm guessing she wasnt his as there is no mention of that!
I'm sort of aware of her, I think because someone else actually asked me this too and I skimmed her IG.
From my 2 mins of investigating she reminds me of every girl from my hometown, plus about 4 or 5 kids. And the first kiss thing.

Joy’s in the trailer albeit not very much (only this scene and the one where they show all the pregnant women) so it does seem like they’re really cutting back being on the show

New Counting On promo photo! Coming back June 30.
Worth noting: Austin and Joy are absent, and I don’t think they were in the trailer.

Many thoughts here.
1. Did Felicity just... bite straight into the rind? Like it was an apple? Is that a thing people do and my Americanized world view has made me completely unaware that this might be a normal thing to do? Also, are babies'/toddlers' teeth normally strong enough to bite through an orange rind?
2. One day will Jeremy look back on his posts and feel weird embarrassment? I had that experience when I read back through my Livejournal account from junior high where I tried really hard to be deep and smart. Luckily all my friends were the same so we could laugh about it 5-7 years later upon rediscovering.

Fundamentalist Mormon is a religion in and of itself (that the LDS church does not recognize as being in any way shape or form related to Mormonism, but fundamentalists themselves consider it to be Mormonism) polygamy is the main difference, but like @spurgie-cousin said most fundamentalists are very much not the Brown family (or members of their church which is more progressive than the typical fundamentalist church according to relatives of mine), a typical fundie Mormon would usually be seen in the long skirts and the traditional hairstyles (think 14 kac Duggars but less colorful and hair in braids rather than perms), although to be fair some mainstream Mormons do that as well, but not the majority whereas the majority of fundamentalists would LOOK fundamentalist. Like with my mainstream family you would never guess that they’re Mormon because the women wear pants and cut their hair, etc, but my relatives who live or have lived polygamy are typically more obvious of being Not Quite Normal
idk if that made any sense
is the fundamentalist portion of fundie mormon just the polygamy? i don’t see any similarities with fundie christians

Considering that the mainstream LDS church only stopped classifying black skin as a sign of the devil in the 1970s yeah I would say it’s not too surprising racism is alive and well in the even more conservative fundamentalist Mormon groups
Do you think there’s any sort of white supremacy in the polygamist culture like we see in the fundie culture? Polygamists and Mormons are definitely mostly white, but do you think there would be an issue if one of the Browns brought home a nonwhite person?
For the Browns specifically, no, mostly because one of their daughters is already married to a latinx person.
For other mormon polygamists, specifically FLDS, absolutely. Southern Poverty Law actually classifies the FLDS as a 'white supremacist organization', among many other things.
Outside of the FLDS a lot of more 'mainstream' polygamist communities are becoming more liberal out of necessity, and some have embraced marginalized groups in an effort to help their cause become more politically and socially acceptable. But the underlying racism that exists in Mormonism is still there.

20 weeks is the cut off so it’s a gray area when 20 weeks is when someone loses a pregnancy. Since she calls it a miscarriage, she must’ve been told that it was by a doctor so I’ll trust that
Joy + Austin Are Expecting!
Get The Data (and Predictions) Here.

After a miscarriage at 20 Weeks, Joy (Duggar) Forsyth is pregnant again.  She’s expecting a baby girl on August 19, 2020.  As of today (March 18, 2020), she is 126 Days Along (Exactly 18 Weeks).  She and Austin seem truly thrilled, and it’s wonderful to see them so happy, after everything they’ve gone through.

I always see it as meaning they weren’t actively taking steps many take before trying to conceive, i.e tracking ovulation cycles, taking prenatal vitamins (which it’s recommended to start before getting pregnant), frequently taking pregnancy tests, hormonal medication, etc.

I’m so sorry, that sounds awful. It’s insane how little tests they have right now. I’ve just returning from traveling around Europe in a lot of cities with high rates or corona and I’ve been feeling sick for days, but my state can’t test me because there aren’t enough kits and since I’m young they’re basically just going to cross their fingers that I get better on my own at home.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Well here’s a fun life update.
Two days ago I started coughing pretty badly and developed a fever. It hurt to breathe. So I assumed it was just a regular chest cold. After reading about the corona virus symptoms, though, I decided I should probably get tested.
I called doctors in Arkansas all morning and was told the same thing: none of them do testing. I called the Arkansas health department and was told that they have a back log of 20,000+ calls and they’d get back to me within 5-7 business days.
Then this afternoon I got a phone call from someone at the Arkansas Department of Health. I guess enough doctor offices where I had called reported me that it flagged me or something. Not sure exactly how that works. The woman said I needed to go get tested. The ONLY place in Arkansas that does testing is the ER. I said I couldn’t afford the ER. She said it wasn’t a normal ER visit, I’d be going to the infectious disease center to have it done and not to worry.
So I get to the ER and I call ahead like I’m supposed to. Next thing I know I have a nurse in this blue hazmat suit come out and meet me. I have to put on a mask and they have me take off my clothes before the rest of the team in blue hazmat suits comes in.
I ask if I can leave, informing them that I really cannot afford this (my insurance only covers ER visits if I’m admitted), and I’m told that due to the state of emergency I can’t leave until I test negative. Idk whether or not that’s true but I didn’t want to fight it.
They take 8 vials of blood, do a nose swab, and take a chest x-ray. Another team comes in and asks pretty intense questioning about everywhere I’ve been and every person I’ve interacted with in the past 2 weeks. They also hooked me up to some IV bags, and idk what was in those bags, but they made me feel a lot better!
A few hours later I test positive for Influenza A. Since I tested positive for that, I’m ineligible for Corona virus testing. My doctor (who was the best ER doc I’ve ever seen) admits that that makes him uncomfortable. He says that according to the data, less than 5% of ppl who have corona also have something like the flu. He says that that data is not reliable, since they’re not testing people who have both. He said there’s only 30 Corona testing kits in the ENTIRE STATE and they’re using them only for their “worst cases.” He said he really didn’t have a choice but to discharge me. So he gave me some meds (which have codeine and are making me super sick) and sent me on my way. Ironically, the medical team all had to wear their hazmat suits to do my discharge paperwork and bring me out the back entrance. Definitely didn’t make me feel great about my diagnosis.
I feel really, really crumby. I’m mad that I just wasted a whole day in the ER and I’m super scared for this medical bill that includes not only the ER visit but all the medical testing 😭
