so what’s the relationship between overlord and your oc? You’re drawing them a bit together

WELL, that’s actually a longish explanation that I could in no way get into right now (((because I'm planning to thoroughly write a thingy about his backstory))), but I’ll give you the basic gist of it:

it's still long and only a fraction of it because drill's backstory is... big

Drill was a G9 survivor, who’d actually been in the prison for at least a vorn or two (a little while before the Wreckers came to liberate it). He was one of the countless cybertronians forced to fight to death in the pit that Overlord had set up for his own whims. It operated on a “fight so you have a chance at freedom” sort of thing, where if you kill twelve people in order for Overlord to give you a reward��which is actually just the option to kill yourself or fight him, which in itself is just an advanced way of killing yourself?

Well, Drillburst managed to kill twelve other pit fighters, a sentence that carries heaps more angst and pain than how I worded it there. That was when Overlord took him somewhere private like he did with all of the undefeated fighters, and offered him those two choices. Drill could’ve ended his suffering right then and there by choosing option one, but naively, foolishly, he didn’t. He chose to fight him, and naturally got the life beaten out of him.

He would’ve brutally died if it hadn’t been for one thing: his outlier ability, which was a massive risk but a way out nonetheless. If you don’t already know, he can use his own energon to create an substance that blows him up, leaving him critically wounded yet functional in both root and alt mode. The explosion itself is incredibly powerful, able to blow practically any thick steel wide open; and before he was killed, he blew himself up right in front of Overlord, blowing a hole in the wall that he used to escape through. Long story short, he escapes, falls unconscious, and is recovered by Autobots shortly after the Wrecker liberation.

You know how Overlord isn’t a fan of anything but winning fights? Yeah. Drill might be alive, he might have escaped, but the fight wasn't going to just end there because of that. He just forged a vendetta against himself by probably the worst person to have a vendetta against himself.

So all in all... there’s unfinished business that needs to be taken care of.

as a reminder to literally anyone and everyone who even so much as considers this: AO3 has NO autosave ability when you're making drafts, so PLEASE do not use it instead of a writing program.

If their server goes down, if you hit a wrong button and refresh the page or go back to the previous page, if you accidentally close the browser, if your browser or device crashes, etc etc etc you are shit out of luck. Your work is gone forever, it didn't backup to anywhere and there is NO recovery option. Even TUMBLR's drafting ability is supposed to autosave and often does.

If you want to avoid gdocs that's fine- there's other text editors with simple autosave options, like Online Notepad or Digital Scholar's notepad, or there's still local-drive writing programs that are free and open source, like LibreOffice. PLEASE do not use AO3 to write your stories into directly. It has NOTHING.
