NINA.
truth be told, nina hadn’t been all too surprised by her project origin audition results— at this point in her trainee journey, the brunette had long since gotten used to opportunity slipping through her open palms, instead having to settle for background glory ( or, in some cases, nothing at all ). each rejection leaves a lingering bitterness on the roof of her mouth, yet, despite her repulsion, there’s an underlying addiction nina simply could not seem to shake. there’s an annoying, ever festering need to prove, a need to show she was capable and willing, even when it came to opportunities she wasn’t necessarily all that interested in. so, with that mentality solidifying as each day passed, nina had also come to terms with the fact that not every chance she put herself out there for would yield positive results. that was fine.
besides, this wasn’t a gig she’d been banking on too badly. for now, she was ok making up the filler crowd.
spending hours on end practicing for something she surely wouldn’t be given much credit for is certainly taxing, don’t get her wrong— there are plenty of other things nina could be doing, plenty of other lessons and workshops she could be taking with the intent of bettering skills she actually wanted to utilize, but nina forces herself to try and find even the slimmest of silver linings ( if she didn’t, there was no doubt she’d have lost her mind weeks ago ). said silver lining? she wasn’t the only one who seemed to be having a hard time, regardless of how transparent she allowed her feelings to be. nina felt for sian, she really did— it was one thing to have to participate in something that, while not particularly pertaining to the path she wanted to walk, offered only mild overlap in career interest. it was a whole different ballgame having to do things that didn’t overlap with ones focus completely.
sian doesn’t seem to be in much of a rush to leave once practice for the day is over, lingering as other make to run out, and the action has nina slowing her own movements. nina feels exhausted, body still having to take its time to cool down despite the work she’s put in with her stamina, and she can’t even begin to imagine how beat the other girl must feel ( her features are more than enough of an indication, all on their own ). as the crowd continues to thin, nina grabs the water bottle she’d set down near her bag. for a moment, she waits, letting the room continue to air out. then, she edges her way closer to the blonde.
“penny for your thoughts?” nina holds out the water bottle to sian, unassuming and waiting.
sian was in this mess as a punishment— for the blatant honesty last quarter in her journals. her hand was now being forced, to commit and try something she truly had no drive to pursue. sian didn’t feel as though her participation in this musical was important or detrimental to her success. they were merely trying to make a point— and so she got it. point made. point heard. she’s tired. she misses the liveliness and warmth of the old dormitories— the comfort of her then roommates and the comforting embrace of her best friend. she feels drained. uninspired. devoid of emotion and drive. she never expected to get this beat down over something so trivial.
sian felt like she could book a one way ticket back to texas right now. she surely wouldn’t be missing anything.
she sighs, pushing back stray strands of blonde hair that had fallen from her ponytail. the room slowly begins to quieten as the other trainees make their way out, only sian is surprised by a sudden figure looming at her side. to her surprise, it’s nina. she offers the older female a small smile, which disappears the moment she looks away. nina offers her a bottle of water, to which sian takes, not entirely sure if she’s thirsty or not. “thanks.” she murmurs, gesturing to the bottle. she mulls over the water for a moment, rolling her wrist in a gentle motion. she sighs.
“feels kind of stupid to say that i was hoping for more.” sian admits, glancing at the ground. “uh, congratulations on your minor part, though. that must be a relief, right?

i’m unhappy.
with @lgcnina◞ ⟡   — project origin rehearsals.
when the results for project origin were revealed, sian’s heart had sank. for a moment, she had a slither of hope that one of the creative directors would see a glimpse of potential in her and want to take a chance on her. sian’s acting skills were surprisingly not lackluster and after all this time, her korean was beginning to improve. but it wasn’t enough, obviously. it had began to dawn on sian as to how stuck she was. she hadn’t given project origin much thought, reassuring herself that everything then was just temporary and that it could only go up from there. sorely mistaken sian was. not only was she off course from pursuing modelling ( the thing she initially set out to do ), instead partaking in the ensemble of a musical she really didn’t care about. she’s reminded that what sets her apart from the other trainees is that she wasn’t a dancer, nor did she have any intentions to become one. especially not for a musical.
and sian’s stubbornness bites her in the arse, as was to be expected. her stubbornness turns to frustration, which leads to an overwhelming sense of hopelessness in the end, amidst endless rehearsals for project origin. she is out of her comfort zone and everyone feels like they’re miles away from her, all on their own path of success. she wonders what miru is up to right now.
she’s been yelled at too many times this week— today alone. by coaches and trainers who don’t understand how she can’t just get this complicated choreography. their criticisms float around in her head as she loiters behind in practice one evening, disheveled and red eyed— both from the tears and severe lack of sleep. for once she’s in no hurry to evade the building and return home to the four walls she shares with her manager, instead hoping to relish the silence that came with vacant dance studio. it was cold and empty and quiet. or would be soon enough.

MIRU.
miru watches sian from over the top of the clothes rack, mindlessly moving her fingers through articles of clothing. he has to think something is on her mind because the somewhat far away look in her eye cannot be focused on the discarded clothing. he’s acutely aware that he was made a model this quarter and sian was not, and that had bothered him because in the end, he wanted them to be in their careers together. it didn’t feel right without her.
“whatever i want seems to be an overstatement,” he says with a small laugh, putting the top under his arm and cocking his hip to the side. his other hand lands on his waist, looking at her again, this time more directly. she’s mad, he thinks. but is she mad at me or legacy? with sian, it was always hard to tell. she made a habit of never being afraid to show her emotions. of course, miru had always admired it because it came with the connected habit of dry humor and being able to tell whomever to shove it.
but right now, it only felt a little unwarranted.
he hangs the top back on the rack and follows sian, this time moving behind her to put his arms around her waist and his chin on the top of her head. “don’t be upset,” he tells her with a soft voice, leaning down to give her a kiss on the cheek and hug her tighter. “do you wanna get something to eat? maybe looking at clothes was the wrong idea. you need some greasy american style hamburgers and fries. if only whatabuger wasn’t miles and miles away, right?” he leans back, letting her go, and pulling her hand. “lets get out of here then.”
sian wasn’t entirely sure what she was feeling at the moment, and if she was actually upset with miru. it was by no means any fault of his own— purely circumstantial. sian knew two things— she was jealous of miru and she was mad at legacy entertainment. perhaps she was mad at herself, for being so honest. years in south korea hadn’t curbed sian’s opinionative american ways. still, it was hard to celebrate the success of another when wallowing in one’s own failure.
she contemplates telling miru that she feels under the weather, and that she ought to go back to the four walls she shares with one of legacy agency’s managers— whom she’s doing her best to opt out of communicating with, selectively speaking korean where she can. at least there she can cry and let it all out. but attempting to go and evade their friend date would only make her jealousy and anger more apparent to miru, so sian bites her tongue. she watches as miru rounds the racks of clothes, enveloping her in an embrace.
“i’m not.” she lies as he presses a gentle kiss to her cheek— attentive and sweet, but friendly for the two of them. and by no means romantic. “i’m just—” sian pauses before shrugging, knowing there was a long list of adjectives that couldn’t begin to explain how or what she was feeling or thinking right now. “i could go some fries. sure thing.” miru takes sian by the hand and she goes with him willingly, following the older male as she had done many years ago.

project origin◞ ⟡    — audition solo.
when push comes to shove, sian finds a character within herself. she isn’t entirely sure about a few things— the longevity of herself and this character. for all sian knew, she was on the brink of being dropped by legacy entertainment. she would never see a quarter as a model, nor ever be able to stand on stage alongside her fellow trainees like they had asked her to do in their fantasy musical. she had contemplated throwing in the towel. funneling enough money together in hopes of getting herself a one way ticket back to texas. at least then she would be with her mom. sure— she wouldn’t have miru anymore, but even then, sian was beginning to feel like her bestest of friends was beginning to outgrow her. sian felt like she was at a loss, no matter what she did.
ideas and inspiration fail to come to sian. she gives up on pulling something out of thin air for this musical, so she concludes that the best course of action is to pull from a living source. this knight is someone she knows all too well, and if she’s expected to play the part on stage— she might as well be herself whilst doing it.
     — ⟡ —
sian stands in front of the panel of judges. arms folded across her chest, weight shifting back and forth between both feet, she sighs. “my knight,” she begins in korean, having to think about what came next, knowing this audition wouldn’t proceed very far if not in korean. “comes across as— self-serving.” sian explains. “she seems like she doesn’t care about anything— other people, or the mission at hand—” she continues explaining, her words carefully chosen and constructed to convey a certain feeling or emotion. “and maybe she doesn’t. maybe she does.” sian then adds, shrugging. “she’s conflicted. she has her own motives and her mission.” much like sian herself.
the more she explains, the more sian finds herself beginning to care about this stupid musical and even if none of it came to fruition, at least she tried. and that is all that sian has ever done, in any aspect of her life. “she doesn’t really play well with others— but she wishes she could.” she says with a small smile. “her power— emotion manipulation. she’s been guilty of altering the way they perceive and feel about her.” sian had been described as manipulative before, and maybe at times, she had wondered to herself what it would be like to alter emotions surrounding her. “maybe there’s some apprehension there about her. maybe she’s kind of untrustworthy.”
and maybe sian was a little untrustworthy too.

NINA.
✰  ◞  UP IN THE AIR.
despite her knack for the written word, motivation and intent clear with every sentence jotted down in the notebook laid out before her, acting seemed to be a whole different beast— nina had no doubt in the fact that she would most likely have to work on that aspect of her skill tree quiet a bit, especially if she wanted to be seriously considered for project origin. that was the thing, however— nina wasn’t sure she wanted to be seriously considered for a project like this.
sure, it’d make for good experience, insightful in a way she’d had yet to truly live, but it wasn’t part of a path she’s deemed as her end goal. never had she ever wanted to become an actress, regardless of being able to sing while doing so.
she still had much to think about. at least, in talking with sian, nina might be able to better understand ( if only a little bit ).
“you commend me as if you don’t have a wild imagination of your own,” nina retorts, tone light as she quirks a brow in question. she leans back in her seat a bit, stretching her back and feeling a vertebrate gently pop with satisfaction. she could circle back to her own ideas another time. “i’m sure you’ve got something interesting brewing in there, you just don’t care enough about all of this to really let it grow— a true injustice, if you ask me.” a small grin grows on ninas lips. “i guess i’m no better, though.”
sian knows deep down that if she wanted to be on this path, that creating a character for project origin would be a total piece of cake. but it doesn’t sit well with her or her creative mind, knowing this trainee mission is punishment for blatant honesty. what happens after this quarter is over? is she to simply return to the path she set out on initially? or does she take part in this musical? sian wasn’t going to lie, she didn’t want to create a magical knight and she doesn’t care enough to do it well. surely the staff members working on this project understand that too.
sian twirls her pen around between her fingers, eyes narrowing towards nina with her comment. “hmm, what makes you think that exactly?” she asks nina, resting her head in the palm of her hand. she doesn’t feel very creative right now, nor does she have the wildest of imaginations— at least not now, within this universe that legacy has set them in. sian sighs, running a hand back through her long blonde hair. it wasn’t to say that she wasn’t attempting to think of things— in a last effort attempt to save herself amidst a sinking ship— her career.
“how right you are.” sian retorts. she is silent for a moment, trying to collect her thoughts and make them coherent enough to share. “i don’t know,” sian says, shaking her head. “it’s hard to care about something when the thing you’re supposed to be caring about isn’t really something you wanna do.” she folds her arms across her chest, leaning onto the table. “i mean, i can sing but— i don’t exactly intend on like... becoming a what... musical actress.” she confesses.

NINA.
✰  ◞  UP IN THE AIR.           let your imagination wander ( ft. @lgcarisa).
writing had always been a rather enjoyable hobby of ninas. putting words to paper, allowing oneself to let go and fully express their thoughts in ways they might otherwise never do if the only available outlet was spoken word. as a future song writer and producer, having already amassed quiet the anonymous discography under her belt ( regardless of how said discography had been scrubbed from the internet the moment she’d become a trainee ), getting ones feelings across was important. understanding underlying sentiments, motivations, and all around meaning was what was strived for.
maybe that’s why, aside from the more vocal specific workshops, characterization was of partial interest. building personas from the ground up, or dissecting ones that already had proper form, was a nice exercise in both creativity and writing prowess. this whole musical theater business was still something nina found herself on the fence about, but the very least, this week could help her flex her mental muscles a bit more.
“have you given any thought to an origin character, yet?” nina inquires, gaze trained on the open notebook laying in the table before her. a larger group lesson and discussion had already taken place for the day, and now they’d been given a bit of time to work amongst themselves. “the scope of requirements feels broad for this, so it’s anyone’s guess as to what might be seen as interesting.” really, nina wasn’t sure just how involved she should get, whether she should really try for anything significant or continue to seemingly float. “i have
a few running thoughts, i guess. what about you?”
at first, sian had tried convincing herself she could sit through another trainee mission. what was one last trainee mission? she had anticipated spending another three months perfecting her lack of dancing skills, only to be hit by the unfortunate curveball that this wasn’t any ordinary trainee mission, but project origin, legacy entertainment’s very own original musical. the realisation that she was now going head to head against trainees and other individuals who took this stuff very seriously was beginning to dawn on sian. and she reminds herself that she very much doesn’t want to be here. she could probably pull together enough money for a one way ticket home.
the realisation is at least numbed, if only slightly, by nina— sian has always somewhat basked in her presence. her cool girl persona was so unbelievably refreshing. sian could only ever dream of being perceived that way— she probably just came off as an arrogant bitch to most. “nope.” sian admits honestly as she fiddles with the ballpoint pen in her hand. “i haven’t given any real thought to this musical, let alone a character for it.” her annoyance towards her current situation was evident, and even if her honesty was what had barred her from debuting, sian wasn’t about to start sugarcoating her thoughts or opinions to try and win legacy’s favour.
and every damn person who asked her about this musical was going to hear her opinion.
"i guess it’s kind of nice they’ve given us leeway,” sian says softly, glancing up towards nina, her lips pursed. “i mean— you can be whoever you want. or at least put forward ideas to be whoever you want.” she shrugs. she wasn’t feeling like the most creative person now, even though she did enjoy creating, whatever form it may be in. “you got ideas though— love that for you.”

MIRU.
teddy bear ( spring ‘23 ) ( thrift store ) ft. @lgcarisa ⋆
after quite a dreadful winter, miru is happy spring is finally making its way to the peninsula’s tip of south korea. miru still hasn’t really gotten used to how cold things get after years of relentless unforgiving sunshine. even during winter, there were plenty of days of seventy degree weather and so, miru’s had to develop a habit of buying clothes for fall and winter too.
but today, he’s shopping for summer and he’s dragged arisa out to join him. he feels sad that she isn’t debuting with him this quarter but it is what it is. there’s been a lot of weird curveballs aimed at them this past year and with the excitement of the mini series and the modeling contracts he can now take, there’s the disappointment for not getting his own apartment off-site just yet.
“how do you feel about this one?” he wonders holding up a net mesh top with sparkly sequence. “i feel like i keep buying clothes for clubbing even though i haven’t stepped in a club since i quit drag. but sometimes one just needs to look like a thot, you know? like
out to the grocery store or something. have you found anything good yet?”
sian enjoyed thrifting, having done much of it throughout her teen years and now early twenties, between both seoul and austin. it was one of the reasons her wardrobe had become so distinct and uniquely her. and it was undeniable, there was something so gratifying— instantly rewarding— to sian about finding a piece she had her eye on, or in mind at least, after sifting through rack after rack. this week, though? not so much. but sian hadn’t the heart to reject miru’s offer to go and accompany him on a thrifting spree.
even if she couldn’t find it in herself to thrift for herself, she could at least enjoy his company.
sian mindlessly flicks through a rack of tops— long sleeved, short sleeved. brights and neutrals. she wasn’t paying too much attention to what she was looking at, merely caught up in her own head until she hears miru’s voice call out to her from the aisle opposite her. she glances up at him, taking in the sequined mesh top. “oh cute,” sian chimes back. in all honestly, it was a cute top. not her style, though— very much miru. “i like it. you should get it.” she glances back down at articles of clothing, running a manicured hand across the hangers.
“i mean you’re a model now,” she says sharply with a curt shrug, pursing her lips together. “you can more or less do whatever you want now, right?” there was no denying that sian was jealous of miru. he was debuting as a model— at least he was living with fellow models ( and actors ). sian had four walls and a manager breathing over her shoulder— it’s a wonder she’s here. if legacy were going to punish her for her blatant honesty, could they at least keep her in the dormitories with haley and taeha for the quarter? “no— i’ve already got too many clothes.” she says, skipping over a few racks, heading towards the end of the row.

tiny update in case you’re wondering who the heck i am or who the heck this muse is — this was lgcarisa. admittedly, i found myself not wanting to write for arisa after the newest trainee mission was dropped because i had hoped she would be moving onto her new career track ( modelling, in case you missed it ). but things didn’t pan out that way. so instead of dropping, i decided to place her on hiatus to allow myself some time to work out what to do with her in the long term. which has ultimately lead me to revamping her, after i have a small epiphany.
anyways, let’s touch on the immediate changes. obviously, her faceclaim has now switched from chisa of xg to chaein of purple kiss. this means she’s no longer japanese, but korean and her name is now ko sian. everything else, including her birthday and background is still the same. i’m going to release another more detailed update when i’m not sleep deprived and it’s not 12am, so bare with me until then! ( also now i kinda hate her theme, so i’ll work on that sometime too, i guess ). hoping this change is going to help revive my muse!

so, i’m starting to believe that a muse wouldn’t be mine unless they’ve been on probation. that’s 2 of 3 for me now. nice work arisa. watch out jiae. anyways, probation aside, i’m dropping most of what little threads i have for arisa. i had hoped to pick up some threads when i first brought her to legacy, but q1 happened and i lost a lot of motivation to write. anyways, give this a LIKE if you would like to plot, either for the trainee mission or just in general. i’m looking for both.
