actually I’d really like an autistic science genius with shit social skills, low empathy, and an inability to mask. I would relate to that type of autistic character more than literally any other autistic character.

I actually want to see that. That’s literally how my autism works. I am Like That in real life. I just wish their autistic traits weren’t played for comedy and I wish they weren’t completely mistreated by the narratives they’re in.

You all act like my type of autism is overrepresented in media when all my representation is either 100% played for neurotypicals to laugh at, or is bashed by the autism community so much I can’t even enjoy it for its good qualities.

You can be proud of yourself while still acknowledging that you’re disabled. I find it so strange that ppl talk about their struggles as an autistic person but fail to link those struggles back to autism. Like honey it’s not just society’s fault, you have a disability shits going to be hard if society was perfected.

Anyhow autism is suffering as much as it is joy for me and I think that a balance can and should exist between Autism Speaks “autism is a cancer that will kill your child and ruin your marriage” and the LSN notion that “autism is 100% positive and the only reason autistic people struggle is Society”

Can we just stop pretending autism is universally "being kind of quirky disorder" like I'm not one of those doomers about it who are like "autism is SUFFERING" either but can we remember that some of us have difficulties. Due to the disability. Pretty please. Barbara Please. Please Barbara

Anyway in the fic Hiro is thrilled to death because Beck is like him but Taller in his eyes and according to Beck Hiro must be Protected At All Costs. Granted in the fic he didn't take a crowbar to Yokai's head but the vibe was still there. XD

This is about academia, so programs for art/sports/etc don't count, only studying.

A program for gifted kids would be separate from most of the other kids, and only be open to certain students.

The "highest level" is referring to classes where you learn differently based on your academic levels. Unlike being a part of a separate program, you would still be in the same class as your peers, you would just be the "best" among them.
