COMSEC2 Entry No. 5
I wasn't around during this time, but I'm glad my group mates and I filled me in on the lessong and activity. I like working with packet tracer so the activity was easy for me to work with. Althought we didnt finish it on time but still the activity brought me back to those days where we used packet tracer

COMSEC ENTRY NO 4
Midterm defenses are done and thank God we dont have to do it on finals. So last meeting we watched an episode of black mirror. Black mirror has opened my eyes what the internet can do a lot of damage. Not only to person, but to the whole human race. 300,000 people dead? Woah. Just because this guy hacked into a company's system and wanted to send a message about cyber bullying, he killed tons of people just because he was able to hack a company who believed and were confident that their system is secure. Im just scared thats all. And watching that made me want to watch the other episodes of black mirror. So thank you sir justin for introducing me to another how on netflix haha

COMSEC2 - Entry 3
The day for the presentations of our project is drawing nearer and nearer. Our project has been alamost the main focus of the past 2 meetings. Sir Calimlim took over the class while sir Justin had to be somewhere where his presence was needed.  One lesson I’ve learned from Sir Calimlim is, ALWAYS HAVE A BASIS. You cannot come up with a statement or conclusion with out a basis. Meaning don’t just keep on assuming, try to find a basis to everything. Specially in your paper.

COMESEC - ENTRY 2
For the past 2 previous meetings, we’ve been talking about (the part i love the most) is computer forensics. I never thought that evidence found in computers a difficult to rely on even though it was found in one of the most powerful things in this world. Not only do we get to learn about IT stuff in this class. We also learn about how you’ll be able to present yourself in court or during an investigation id you ever do such crime. I mean who knows what people are capable of. Even though i wasn’t around last meeting, my groupmates filled me in on the activity. And just by answering, i know know that the cyber world and the real world intersect at some point in time. And when they do, the impact is impactful (if thats even a word). I mean yes the real world have computers but the depth of the hook of computers in the real world is pretty deep. Specially the Belo vs. Guevarra case. Just one post ruined his name and his career.
And by that, I’m amazed by it all.

COMSEC2 - Entry 1
Summer is over and it’s back to sitting face to face with computers doing whatever the teacher says. To be honest I’m not ready until now to go back to school but i have to suck it up. For the first day of Comsec2, we jumped right into the lesson then after that an exercise. It’s acceptable since it a class that happens once a week and its as long as 4 hours. It’s fine though, at least the activity helps time pass by so fast. Like literally so fast we had to rush the completion of the case study where we had to critically think about the possible threats to the company. I had a hard time looking for other problems that can occur in storage facilities. But at least in the end, it all worked out well. But then the second day came and we were assigned our own topics for the research we’re supposed to do to pass this class. When we picked the topic, in that moment i knew we are screwed. I mean CTI? Even our prof tells us everyone failed making that project. But anyways, i know we can do this. It jus needs a little bit of crying, some breakdowns, and at least one “I give up but i need to graduate” moment.

INFOSEC ENTRY NO.6
In infosec, we have learned about cryptography and physical security.  Cryptography took me back to our DISCRETE days where we encrypt and decrypt and find the private key. I remember we used modulo and those were the times where I felt excited learning discrete math. It felt the same way for infosec too. Then we also learned about the physical security. I have a lot of concerns about the physical security of APC. I do not consider APC to be safe since it’s beside a gas station that can blow up any moment. Also, considering the guards (those guards who always stop you for nothing, shake your bag, argue with you with whatever you wear) I do not think that they are enough to keep APC safe because incidents will always find its way to impact a person. AND MOST OF ALL WE ARE FINALLY DONE WITH OUR PROJECT!!!!! SNORT IS DONE AND OUT OF THE PICTURE. WE HAS TO SEARCH STUFF THINKING OF USING A VIRTUAL MACHINE TO DO THE BACKDOOR. ALL WE HAD TO DO WAS TO TELNET EACH OTHER. :’) BUT THANKS TO MY GROUP MATES WHO WERE PERSISTENT OF FINISHING THE PROJECT. WE GOT PLUS 5 WOOH!

COMSEC ENTRY NO. 6
Sir Justin announced something….
He said something about an “all or nothing” activity and it made me pale….
It was capture the flag. And it took place last friday.
I thought we were screwed because it was only me and mico, my groupmate because our two other members we’re busy for the whole college week.
Most specifically the Mr. and Ms. APC pageant. Shout out to my girl who got 2nd runner up Krisper Bariuan.
At first I thought it was hard, but it was actually okay. I thought we were going nowhere. But Im glad we were able to do it. This has been the most exciting part of these past two weeks aside from the college week :)

INFOSEC Entry no.5
For the past two weeks of infosec, we learned about the access control list. Never thought we'd use packet tracer.
We always use packet tracer in DATANEt and i never thought it would he used in our infosec class.
Infosec never fails to amaze me with what other fields of life it can involve. Whether its business or networking.
The activity was hard. It took us the whole time to complete the packet tracer activity because you have to satisfy the conditions given
Some weren't pinging each other and it was a disaster. Although i was amazed of what ACL can do because it lets you manipulate the activity of your network and I thing that is a very useful feature of networks.
We also learned that we were going to do another project and my groupmates were all shocked.
So basically, these past two weeks have got me like 👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼

COMSEC No. 5
The past two weeks has been fun and at the same time you just want the term to end.
Tumblr media
On tuesday, we had an activity, it was a really fun activity because we did things that i never thought I’d be doing in the internet. It’s really scary knowing that someone can just look for a port that’s open in your personal computer then they can find out about your computer system and then boom it will all fall from there and your sorry little as can be hacked and youre gonna cry because your pc is not secured at all once connected to this shady network.
Tumblr media
Then after that, we did what I thought we were done with the last time we had to stand infornt and answer some questions and some we didnt even get to answer. But here we are, proposing another project. Well not another, but continuing applying the project we proposed. And it’s really scary to deploy a darkcomet because that RAT is really really dangerous.
Although I do not like doing this, it’s an essential that you always apply what you have learned. Because the best way of learning is to experience it.

INFOSEC #4
Snapchat. That’s all we’ve been working on for the past months. Last week, was the time where we had to present. I must say, we did a great job! LETS ALL CLAP AGAIN FOR ME AND MY GROUP MATES YO ;’)
Tumblr media
*Features my friend Meryl bc she gives the best applause and praise*
Well anyway, after that hell of a week, we had to continue and move on. Well we didn’t actually move on because sir justin wanted to go back to those who have not yet presented their debate.
Being involved in a debate is fun when you get the topic you know by  heart. I’m glad we got the opposing side bc china ain’t ever gonna influence our country.
During the group’s presentation, I felt the fire to answer and contradict what the opposing group is saying. But atleast, we got to fight for our opinion.

COMSEC #4
Done with our defense. Done with DarkComet. Although it didn’t turn out the way I expected it to be, I think we handled it pretty well.
Tumblr media
Anyway, after that defense week, It was back to classroom setting. Back to learning. Back to doing exciting activities for our class.
Tumblr media
I’m so excited for what is yet to come for COMSEC.

INFOSEC entry no. 3
I will be honest, I have no interests in studying laws, When I hear the word “Republic Act” or “Sector 1″ like for real that just shuts my interest because I cannot get the big picture of those laws. Why do they have to be put in different sections even though they’re pertaining to the same act? Why are there civil laws or common laws? Before our lecture I only heard of those two, but i do not know how different they are from eachother. Anyway it sucks that now I’ll become an I.T. and that I can learn how to mess with the internet, there are laws already implemented that denies us to do this and that. But im still glad that we’re able to do the noob stuff on comsec because it does help me understand how to attack a system and how to protect a system because it’s already been provided by both subjects.

COMSEC entry no. 3
For real, this is the only class i get to actually learn something relevant and interesting at the same time. Me and my group truly enjoy answering the application part of our activities because we get to have a hands-on experience and it help us understand what we’re learning even more. I can say that among the things we’ve been doing in comsec, our research paper made me learn a lot. Why? well first I figured out how RATs work. Trust me they’re not as friendly as mickey lol. BUT, as i was reading for our paper, I read “can remotely access everything on your computer” and that made me close my laptop, unplug my router and just constantly trying to unread what i read. The Dark Comet is scary af. For our paper, I’m glad that sir Justin suggests what we should put in our paper unlike other profs who look for our mistakes and tell them that we made a mistake. Like, how in the world does that help. The way sir Justin gets involved in our paper is a way that can help us have more time to improve more for our paper. *thinks of those 4 profs who i am shading with my statement*

INFOSEC 1 entry no.2
Week 3 and 4
The past 2 weeks is only composed of 2 things. Cybrary cert and the papers. Yes, papers. Papers in COMSEC and the papers in INFOSEC. Yay... Any way The highlight of the past two weeks is the cybrary certification. I took it today and yes it was easy. I learned about the Fundamentals of mobile security. I learned how to secure your mobile, tablets vs laptops, emails and a lot more. I learned things that I already know and things that i still dont know about mobile devices. For the previous meetings, we only worked on what could be the other possible topics for our paper since we do not know if it’s already approved. Social media is a really used up topic for researches. Like really, it’s used up. I wanna come up with something that has not been focused on a lot but is relevant for a part in Social Media. There’s hasnt been a lot of discussions for the past meetings so i think i’ll stop here lol

COMSEC 1 Entry no. 2
Week 3 and 4
The past 2 weeks have been a blur. I dont mean it in a good way. Well on the first day of the 4 meetings covered this week, that was when we only discussed. We were given, or I picked the topic for our paper. And yes, writing the paper starts. Half of the classes we have requires writing papers. Almost all of them. It’s helpful because I get to learn a lot. That’s the only good thing that happens when making a paper. But the late nights or SLEEPLESS NIGHTS? NOPE. We were also assigned to make a report and make structures of networks for a company. It was easy answering the questions. but it was hard keeping the things within the budget. Who runs a business with an annual butdget og 50k?! Anyways, on the next meeting sir wasn’t there so we didn’t have to report but we had to pass the draft of our proposal. I did stay up late for that proposal but it turned out okay. The sub only found 2 errors wooh! Then the following week we had an activity and i learned how get someone’s password on Wireshark. That was about it. Oh and today sir jayvee subbed and as usual he found ways to make his classes enjoyable.
that sums up the 4 meetings we had for for the past 2 weeks in COMSEC1 :)

INFOSEC 1 entry no. 1
Week 1 and 2
First day, just realized that COMSEC and INFOSEC are very similar. They both have the same prof 😂 the same room 😐 and the same scope but different purpose. Even though both subjects contain “SEC” meaning security in their course code. They do differ. Not much. Just a little. Well maybe they are but INFOSEC is all about defending 🛡 and COMSEC is all about attacking ⚔️😈. I’m excited for this subject like really.
Second day, well sir Justin is still not around. Means we get to spend more time with the same Prof 😒. Although we just had an activity, meaning the sub doesnt have to teach 😬. The activity was about the problems we have at school. Oh we have a lot lol. The discussion about Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability was clear but we still had trouble differentiating the three because they all have factors that intersect. Still we pulled it through. Our classes for today are 6 hours straight. No break. Same room. I do not know how i’ll survive this. But for the week, I’m proud that i got through it. I’ll give myself a pat on the back 😌
Tumblr media
Third day, finally it was sir Justin again! I honestly never had so much interest yet understand a lot in a lecture. Sir Justin’s memes within his slides are really effective. Makes it more clear to all of us who are just starting to learn infosec. Kudos sir justin! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 You really know how to captivate our interest and attention. Taylor swift was a nice touch to the presentation 😂 Something we pretend to be: HAPPY
Fourth day, we had this case study as a homework from last meeting and thank God it wasnt that hard to do. Doing that case study honestly made me feel that i can be a good business owner or manager. Most of all i learned that security is a necessity to every business because you always have to look at the big picture. As doctors day “Prevention is better than cure” and securing your business from all the trouble it can run into is a good investment. After the discussion, there we have the funny memes. I love those memes. Today also taught me that in the corporate world of IT there are a lot of policies to follow so i better watch my back and be smart and prepared 👌🏼
