I’ve seen the last two stills everywhere but I feel like it’s important to know he was talking about student debt.

I find it ridiculous that when people are talking about oppression in any form, the oppressors constantly demand that you treat their feelings with kid gloves. I’m not about going on this website and talking about things like this, I kinda just like the memes and the fandom stuff but there’s really no way of not seeing it.
Women don’t have to say *not all men*, black people don’t have to be nice to white people in order to tell them, hey man, stop killing us. Like dude, your feelings are not more important than what is right.
This is expressly motivated by some dumb carnist sending anons to a vegan blog. No one needs to cuddle your ass into thinking that we don’t have the right to someone else’s body and that hey, it’s exploitation and it’s cruel and damaging to the environment. People in their anger over shit like this don’t have to be nice to you. You can’t reject something just because the person who said it to you wasn’t polite. I’m a straight chick and I follow tons of LGBT+ people who say some mean shit about straight people all the time but I don’t fkn take it personally. Just because someone is being a bitch to me about it doesn’t mean that they aren’t right about the way the world is in a larger sense. At some point, you’re going to have to take responsibility for your own actions regardless of how other people talk or react about something. Look at the facts not the way it was delivered.
Before some psychopath jumps on this about equating those issues, I’m not responsible for the fact that you can’t understand an analogy and secondly, since I’ve seen it here more times than I can count, vegans aren’t just vegans. They have a variety of identities. I for one am, a mixed raced ndn woman who grew up so poor, I had cockroaches as pets and my diet was so bad, there were fillings in each of my teeth by the time I was 14. I was so poor I didn’t even know how to properly open a fkn car door because I had rarely ever been inside of one! I am also a victim of domestic violence which I rather not get into. I’d like to think my experience on the other side of power makes me more sympathetic to the plights of other creatures. The other vegans I know are from various identities as well.  Just so you know that this wasn’t written by the convenient imaginary rich white person whose family owns a beach house in Michigan.

This episode: proof that if Sam Winchester had a Sam Winchester to watch out for and support him through his crisis about his powers, his nature, and his worthiness, things would have gone a lot better. Sam just needed a Sam, guys.

Don’t forget the make “Hell Great Again” comment. They used that before but that’s really on the nose, especially since the demon who said it is chosen by Asmodeus. I wonder why they picked a black actor to play that demon though. My only guess is to make it more glaring since any conversation between a man with that accent and manner and a dark skinned black man would immediately conjure up to most Americans the image of racism and slavery.
Asmodeus / White Supremacy
- Antebellum accent. Obvious.
- Antebellum hair/suit. Obvious.
- “The underperforming, the ineffective… of the Crowley era, are being purged.” Asmodeus believes that some demons are inherently useless. This is a reference to the white supremacist belief that nonwhite races are unevolved. ‘POC are genetically inferior by nature’ is the reasoning that led to the eugenics movement.  Bonus bible quote: “Who then is the faithful and wise slave, whom his master has put in charge of his household, to give the other slaves their allowance of food at the proper time? Blessed is that slave whom his master will find at work when he arrives.” (Matt. 24:45-46)
- “Are you equating your paltry acquaintance to our lord with mine?” Slavery could not have existed in the (extremely religious) south without a consensus that white people were god’s favorites.
- “The Shadim. Things so dark and base that god would not allow them into the light. But I, in my pride, believed I could train them.”  Articles written by secessionist states frequently reference the folly of the north’s attempt at a nonsegregated society.
- “I am his to command. As you are mine.”  Jefferson Davis once said “We recognize the negro as God and God’s Book and God’s Laws, in nature, tell us to recognize him. Our inferior, fitted expressly for servitude.” In other words, whites obey god, blacks obey whites, as is the natural order of things. Whites aren’t the ones promoting slavery, oh no. They’re just following orders from god. see, they follow orders, too, so there’s nothing inherently degrading about following orders.
Note: this same logic is expressly laid out in 1 Corinthians 11, where the heirarchy is laid out as women < men < Jesus/the church < god. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Asmodeus’s chosen survivors were all men.

This is so important, stories like this need to be told.  The cultural insistence we have that parenthood is some kind of magical bonding that happens every time without exception does real harm to both parents and children, as you can see from some of these stories:
My father recently told me he never wanted kids, but my mother wanted them. She thought he would love us when we were born.
and
I didn’t realize that a maternal instinct is not universal. You know how you see parents in the delivery room and they are crying tears of joy? I felt nothing. […] My boys are well cared for and I am always here for them, but it feels very unnatural and fake and unenjoyable. It is a bit like a retail job you don’t like where you put on a fake persona and slog through it the best you can. I don’t get to leave this job, though.
and
I also thought I wouldn’t mind missing out on all the partying and holidays because I would have the ultimate gift, a child.
and
I always said I would never have children. I hate kids..I do. I am just not that type of nurturing person. I was always very careful to make sure protection was in use (condoms, birth control) but I am that .1% and apparently very fertile.  I do not have that natural motherly instinct that all women seem to have, you know..that one that kicks in the moment they know they’re pregnant. I have to work really hard at it and it’s exhausting. I miss my solitude and being able to “check out” of reality from time to time.
and
Because kids aren’t the life completer we believe they are.
Are there people for whom having children completes their lives?  No doubt.  Are there parents for whom the downsides like sleeplessness and loss of personal time are outweighed by the love and joy they feel?  Of course.  Are there people who change their minds about wanting kids once they have them?  Sure.  But that’s not true for everyone.  It doesn’t happen every time, it’s never guaranteed, and the consequences are grievous when people who don’t want children have them anyway trusting that they will love the child and be happy.
We need to dispel the starry-eyed myths around pregnancy, childbirth, and marriage and create more realistic expectations.  Parenthood is too important a choice for people not to go into it with their eyes open.

i love how carnist have a problem with the tiniest percentage of vegans feeding their carnivorous pets a vegan diet but WONT SAY SHIT ABOUT MILLIONS COWS BEING FED CORN EVERY DAY, BIRDS BEING FORCED FED, TO THE POINT OF NOT EVEN BEING ABLE TO WALK. i’m laughing so hard because these people are saying vegans are abusing animals to fit their personal needs. WHAT WORLD ARE YOU LIVING IN??

I was exploring a new (to me) preserve in my area when I stumbled upon the tail end of a bird banding event.
From top:
Tufted titmouse (Baeolophus bicolor) before weighing
Ruby-crowned kinglet (Regulus calendula) after banding
White-throated sparrow (Zonotrichia Albicollis) being released
Oct. 19. 2017
