THEY MOVED ME UP THIS WEEK HALLELUJAH
So They've Got Me In Two Very Different Classes
I'm new to my dance school this year, though I've been dancing for 2 years now, and they've somehow placed me in Boys' IV and Ballet II. For reference, this was without seeing me dance.
In the boys' class, we're doing a lot of jumps and turns and conditioning, and one of the first things we did was a Saut de Basque. It takes extra effort for me, sure, since I'm the newest, but I catch up just fine.
In Ballet II, everything is in third position still, and they just taught grand plies.
I am suffering. Here's to hoping I can convince them to move me up to III, since their primary reason for not moving up until 3 years of dance is pointe prep, which doesn't apply to me at all.

Things For Late Starters To Remember
It's not too late.
No, not even to go professional.
You'll probably have to train for just as long as kids did, but there's no reason you can't.
Illness and disability can make your dancing different, but modified forms of ballet are available. They may not exist for every situation, but they're worth looking in to.
There are always going to be places that will let you study.
If you aren't taken seriously where you are, someone will take you seriously. You may not have the ability to go to a different school, but you can reach out online.
Practice! Practice at home. Do what you can.
There's nothing wrong with learning from people younger than you or taking classes with little kids.
Please add on! I'm tired right now, so this might be a little wonky.
