Assumpta invited me to stay with them for almost an extra month and want to take me to Barcelona with them....I feel like Lizzie Bennet being invited to stay a month complete at Rosings and going as far a London in the barouche box.

I ended up making a second regency spencer in the span of two days to be a replica of one Assumpta wore in one of her other films that I love, and I headcanon Teresa wore in the early 1800's, so essentially I'm doing a little headcanon pre-war Teresa cosplay while I'm here...but anyways, I went to a huge store with every possible thing you could need for costume/sewing/craft supplies and met a kind man who, when I explained what my supplies were for (Dos de Mayo/Napoleonic Wars), he gives me a conspiratorial look and said "We hate the French." to which I replied "Good, me too!!" and we talked more shit about the French as he helped me out and it was AMAZING.

I'm just here to say I love the French and everything they do, they were absolutely right and Napoleon should've been master of Europe. Wellington honestly is the real bad guy here. And also Hakeswill is the best character ever :)

It's my birthday and me and Assumpta have spent all day in agony with food poisoning from last night's adventure in Brazilian food. Curse the cheese balls that have rendered us asunder....I wanted to go out and do things but alas. We have been struck down and it's Easter and if that's not a sign from God idk what is

I was gonna post some Sharpe archive photos I had been working on and I accidentally dropped the hard drive housing them, as well as the art I really wanted to work on, photos, fics, etc, and now my hard drive won't work. On my FIRST day here. I am SO SAD.

It's really interesting that my dad actually really enjoys the Jane Austen films, so over the years we've been watched a lot together. They all blend together for him, but so he doesn't really have a favorite, and I get to supplement him with details about dress/customs/stuff from the book the films can't quite convey.
I walked out to make food and saw he was watching Emma 2020 so I made us a late breakfast (lunch really) and brought my handsewing out. Working on regency pieces while watching period pieces :)

So far, in about a month, I have managed to make:
Chemise and drawstring casing
Bodiced petticoat with casing
Redid chemise casing bc it was too stiff
Altered a pattern and made a dress mockup
Completely removed said petticoat bodice bc of bulk, attached waistband with straps instead
(More or less) Finished actual dress, will have to redo some gathers
Hopefully complete spencer mockup tonight
Hopefully complete actual spencer with train this weekend, god willing. I've never worked with silk rayon...
And if there's time, make a red version of the spencer with points and no train that I always imagine Teresa would wear pre-war.
I haven't sewn this much in my life and quite frankly, I can't wait to be done. I wish I had another month but if I stick to my schedule I can be finished and never rush this much again. I can do hand sewing on the plane and in Spain. GAH!

I've wanted to delete FB for a long time but it's the only place where I can post a question about sewing a regency dress directly to the pattern makers and get help from both them and people who have made the pattern before and that is honestly worth any grief of having to use FB....I am so close to finishing this regency gown and it's driving me fucking nuts. I'd like to finish it today bc I'm two steps away but this pattern is so vague, or I'm stupid, and it's translated from German too which makes it even more vague. I just want to be DONE with sewing........"sew at marks" and marks say side seam except there are three possible side seams and no indication of which it could be!!!

Also my bad, how could I deprive you of this as context
That behind the scenes pic of Sean in the tattered nightgown from Mission altered my brain chemistry so much that after I saw it I immediately worked on my smut fic and changed Sharpe to be wearing a nightgown bc how could I not

So Harper-Collins hasn't publicly announced it yet, but there's already a new Sharpe book, almost complete, set to release in October this year called Sharpe's Storm. It's slated as Book 19, and according to the most recently updated Sharpe book list, that's between Siege and Revenge, so 1814 in the Pyrenees. There's no information on what the book is about, but it's already listed on their website.
I'll admit I was very worried at first, considered the extremely quick turn around of a new book only a year after Command was released. Especially since Corndog took a year off for health reasons and pushed back the release date of Command. But looked at the history of releases of the earlier books, they were also released within a year of each other. Command, though I really enjoyed it for Teresa and Sharpe, had a lot of errors and mistakes that were concerning, and having another book come out so quickly with the quality of the last one is....well...yeah. Although his rank changing from captain to major and back again makes a little more sense if he was writing this book at the same time.

Sharpe helping Antonia to walk along the path to Tio Ramon's house. Her hand is so small in his, her feet unsteady, but she is so determined and he is so, so proud of her, his baby girl.
