Assigning penacony characters D&D classes because I can
Aventurine - Wild Magic Sorcerer
Luck plays a huge part of this subclass, literally every time a wild magic sorc uses a spell they gamble on whether or not they have a wild magic surge, which can either help or hinder them. Also they get an ability called "bend luck" which lets them either improve the luck of allies or make the luck of enemies worse
Robin - Bard. Self explanatory. Not sure on a subclass but I'd guess I'd go with lore??
Sunday - Knowledge domain Cleric. This is based pretty much entirely on vibes but also you cannot convince me he would be anything other than a cleric
Acheron - Paladin. Given her connection to what is basically a god (are aeons the same as gods? I'm not a big Lore Guy I just know the vibes) and the fact that she does Big Damage With A Sword I think Paladin fits best. Also unsure on subclass but I'd tentatively go oath of vengeance?
Black Swan - Abberant mind sorcerer. As far as I know this is the class with the most psychic/mind fuckery stuff so. I think it works.
Sparkle - arcane trickster rogue. Once again I am mostly basing this on vibes but it literally has trickster in the name how could I not give it to her.
Dr Ratio - Wizard. Only person in penacony with the intelligence for it. Has the required pretentiousness
Firefly/Sam - artificer??? Mostly basing this off of the use of a big metal suit, that's similar to armourer artificers I think
Gallagher - Warlock of some description, although I'm not sure what subclass. The fiend maybe?
Ok that is all, hope I didn't miss anybody

not to be so not normal about everything but azula and zuko’s relationship and thinking about how it would be after the show is SO INTERESTING. like when they were growing up azula was the “one in charge” and not zuko even though zuko was two years older? (idk what to call that, ppl w siblings ykwim) (see: azula calls him “little zuzu”, azula bullies HIM in a flashback to them at like 5 or 6, etc). i can’t even fathom my (3 not 2) years younger sister being the one in charge, she feels like a baby (loving) to me and always has.
so like. i feel like that sort of speaks to azula’s maturity? which sounds stupid but like. at 14 she was (for at least a few minutes each) the leader of 2/3 of the world (probably much more bc the earth kingdom is huge). while zuko was out there trying to not fail at customer service job. (hard)
and then she breaks down. now i’ve had psychotic episodes before and one of them i was azula’s age but my sister and I’s way of dealing with it was to just. ignore it. not say anything. and then occasionally effy-tony them (idk how else to describe that lol). however. azula tried to Kill Him and then he usurped her throne. that feels hard to ignore.
which really means 1 of 3 things.
1. azula and zuko work their shit out
2. azula continues to be an ass like in the comics (though with what happened to her i. don’t blame her)
3. (my favorite) THEY IGNORE IT.
azula and zuko were clearly raised in a don’t-air-your-dirty-laundry house. they both have the emotional intelligence of rocks and don’t know how to talk to other people like a human being. neither of them would know how to start the “i just went a little nuts”/“i just watched you go a little nuts” conversation. so i think they just don’t say anything.
eventually azula stops trying to kill him (which i don’t think would really take that long; what triggered her episode was being emotionally alone and i think if her friends came back and zuko stayed with her she’d snap back pretty quickly). very gradually their conversations go from “i see you got pretty far this escape attempt. don’t do that again.” to “can i hide in here the councilmen won’t leave me alone and my head hurts” to “and there were CANDLES and ROSE PETALS and i just asked him about how his MOM DIED im so stupid how did i not realize until now”.
i really like the idea of azula staying on house arrest in the palace, at first in her chambers and then on the grounds with a guard, and at first it’s because she’s dangerous but after a while she starts to like it. she doesn’t have all those responsibilities anymore. she doesn’t have to be perfect. nothing bad will happen to her if she isn’t because she already did what she thought of as the worst possible thing to do (losing her fire lord title). and she survived. and she’s not under ozai’s thumb anymore. and it feels better.
basically i like the idea of azula becoming the kid she never got to be. an actual little sister. zuko knows she sneaks out to go to parties in caldera. he doesn’t tell anyone. azula makes a habit of threatening councilmen when zuko needs a break because if HE did it would send a bad message but if SHE does. well that’s just the fire lord’s crazy sister.
idk i just like the idea of them finally being able to be actual siblings to each other. getting into shenanigans. causing trouble. learning how to unlearn things together. changing the world. having fun.

Acknowledgement of Pain
Tumblr media
I think one of the things that I feel Azula in the Spirit Temple gets right is acknowledging one of what I believe to be one of the pillars of her character.
That is, acknowledging what she went through, the pain she endured, was legitimate.
What do I mean by this? Remember that scene where Azula confesses that she feels like she's a monster at the fire pit during "The Beach"?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The way she brushes off her concerns about what she's doing is wrong? She has problems admitting to what is eating at her and opening her up to others. This is reinforced since...well Zuko isn't exactly the most sympathetic to Azula and her relationship with Mai and Ty Lee is strained. So it's not like she can admit to them either. Growing up under Ozai's influence probably wouldn't help since having concerns or internal struggles would probably be seen as "weak" in his eyes.
And weakness...well we all saw what happened to Zuko.
Privately though, we see another side to her:
Azula: Don't pretend to act proud. I know what you really think of me. You think I'm a monster. ... Azula: Well what choice do I have? Fear is the only reliable way. Even you fear me.
Her strained relationship with Ursa and her belief that she's a monster does eat at her. It's not something she can just brush off so easily. Particularly when she doesn't have anybody to admit it to. Sure, she tries to make excuses like how fear is the only thing she knows how to get people to like her, but that's normal. Again, this is something that's instilled in her for years and it's not something she's good at handling by herself.
On some level, she DOES know she's hurting...but she can't admit it to herself since that would be a betrayal of everything Ozai built her up to be. And since Ozai was the only one who validated stuff like her talent with firebending and being more than just a troubled child, how could she tear that down without tearing herself down?
What I think Azula needs though...what she's craving...is for somebody to validate that yes, she was hurt. That her family and loved ones did hurt her. Yes, it might be misdirected since she lumps the Fire Warriors in there, but it's still valid since she probably wouldn't have a grasp on her feelings. I think what Azula wants is for her pain to be acknowledged and for somebody to say, "that's not right". In the environment she got, she never got the chance. And the spirit didn't help since it just labeled her a monster for rejecting its "redemption".
Hell, even her slaying of the Zuko image demanding she apologize to them doesn't acknowledge that she was hurt too and that neither party can entirely blame the other. It's all take and no give according to the spirit, which rightfully isn't treated as valid by Azula or the narrative. Otherwise, I think she would've faced more repercussions for defying it.
What Azula needs is for her pain to be acknowledged. Not brushed aside or downplayed. I mean to actually be acknowledged and treated with the amount of gravity it deserves.

Also, she’s having to bend down all the time to get to literally any room. Or you know… do anything that isn’t just standing or sitting in a large chair. The furniture in Castle Dimitrescu isn’t specially made for her. That has to cause some chronic pain from muscle overuse or something
idk if its canon or not but i think lady dimitrescu experiences chronic pain Solely because like. anyone who's that tall unnaturally has got to ache from time to time. plus taking her natural age (like, mid 40s?) into account. shes got to ache

So, I always find Fifth Lord scenarios to be a bit challenging to come up with, because like, the Four Lords are thematically connected to the four elements (Lady Dimitrescu = Earth, Lady Beneviento = Air, Lord Moreau = Water, Lord Heisenberg = Fire - it's on the stone carving Mother Miranda showed Ethan while disguised as the old woman, if you missed it.) And then you have Miranda covering the Spirit thing, if that's a thing you reckon as an element.
So.
*Cracks knuckles*
I've decided to figure out where and how the fuck Ethan could fit into this scheme, if he were going to be a Fifth Lord.
So, Ethan's job is being a systems engineer, although Capcom doesn't specify what kind of systems engineer, but I think that we can agree that systems engineering in general is an air thing; at least if we know some traditional elemental associations.
So this means that Ethan is filling the same slot as Donna. Now, it's unclear if Donna has an actual job here. Sure, there's her doll making, but it seems to be more of a hobby than an actual profession. She doesn't seem to be actually running anything.
But in any case, there is one system that is going woefully unengineered around here, and that any sort of modern communications system. Oh sure, the lords and Miranda can apparently call each other over the phone, and Heisenberg has an intercom system for the apparent purpose of flirting with and/or traumadumping on protagonists, but the rest of the people? I don't think these people even have a functioning post office. I don't recall seeing a single mailbox around the village anywhere.
And if there's no post office, nobody can mail any letters or buy anything through through mail delivery, and That's Just Terrible.
Yes folks, I am in fact proposing Ethan Winters, Lord of the Post Office.
Now of course, Ethan might find himself a little understaffed as they're getting things set up. And this means that he might have use those untapped mold powers and make some guys; maybe kinda like the Molded from RE7. And since this is Ethan Winters, who presumably doesn't want to scare the shit out of everybody, he might put some Big Googly Eyes and Friendly Uniforms on them, like so:
Tumblr media
Now of course, I imagine Ethan's mailmolds will have a little trouble getting chased around by stray lycans, but I'm sure he can solve that by reminding Heisenberg that Chased Mailmolds equal Package Delays, so if Heisenberg wants to get his classic vinyls in a timely manner, he'd better make those lycans behave.

Lots of people look good in glasses. I am not one of them. It’s why I wear contacts most of the time 😂 Hey, I know my priorities, alright? No shame in that. Capcom put these frames in for a reason and you better believe I’m gonna watch every fucking second (And look like a dork while doing it).
