Sign the Police Body Cameras petition link in our bio!: #repost via @jaymeelz Of the @cleveland_renaissance_movement "The shooting deaths of unarmed Mike Brown, Timothy Russell, Malissa Williams and John Crawford are examples of the inequities that are happening across the country and here in the State of Ohio. This petition is essential because unarmed people of color have been gunned down at the hands of law enforcement without recourse. The Cleveland Renaissance Movement was conceived by local poet and community activist Basheer Jones in reaction to the shooting of Mike Brown, in addition to the police chase and shooting deaths of unarmed Malissa Williams and Timothy Russell. Kent State NAACP at the March on Media with Basheer Jones & the Cleveland Renaissance Movement in Cleveland, OH.
On September 11th, 2014, the Kent State Chapter joined up with Basheer Jones, Cleveland Civil Rights leader and distinguished member or the Cleveland community. Growing up, Basheer Jones was born in Brooklyn, New York. He is a graduate of
Martin Luther King High School in Cleveland, OH and Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA. At the March on Media, Clevelanders and the NAACP chapter from Kent State joined forces to marching in solidarity for the unjust shootings going on around the nation in Ferguson and also Cleveland, OH. While chanting "137 shots! How do justify that?", the marchers shed light on the shootings of Timothy Russell and Malissa Williams. "NO JUSTICE! NO PEACE!" and more statements were exclaimed throughout the streets of Cleveland Ohio. Marchers marched from News Channel five to the Plain dealer to 19 Action News and many more land marks on their trek. They were heard and most importantly, they made it a point to not let innocent souls lost to unjust shoots go unnoticed.
