"p5r implies he got a persona tortured out of him at one point" oh interesting I never picked up on this where is it?

from the featherman game in royal, which implies that goro underwent “medical experiments” that forced a persona out of him. that persona is probably loki, because hereward implies that robin hood is his first persona, and we know that goro had his first persona from before he met shido. this post from lokiarsene explains the connection.

i also think it’s really funny because if loki is the result of medical experiments and persona torture and so on, that explains shido’s line from his boss fight (that akechi wouldn’t have unlocked his true potential without shido). (that’s a line from persona 5 vanilla, by the way.) so that implies that it was shido, or someone else on shido’s orders, who forced loki out of goro.

so if we look at the timeline, 

goro gets robin hood first (which makes sense, because he’d be less jaded as a young child and believe in an idealistic view of justice), 

goes to shido with robin hood and his metaverse abilities (which does NOT include call of chaos, by the way) to prove that he could be useful to shido, gets himself wrapped up  in the conspiracy, 

gets tortured by shido (and maybe wakaba) to make him manifest a second persona. 

that persona has the psychotic breakdown ability (call of chaos) that shido wants. 

then shido proceeds to make goro use the psychotic breakdown ability to destroy his political opponents.

so if that timeline is correct, goro has never once caused a psychotic breakdown, mental shutdown, or murder without shido forcing him into it. he literally could not have done it. robin hood doesn’t have call of chaos. he would have manifested loki only when he was eyes deep into shido’s conspiracy.

and, considering that personas tend to manifest as a stress response to a traumatic event, loki would have been a direct manifestation of a) medical experiments/torture, b) getting caught in shido’s conspiracy with no way out, c) the incredibly high pressure the conspiracy would have placed on him to be a Perfect Child lest shido throw him away, and d) the horrific political corruption that goro would have seen there. 

is it really that surprising that loki looks the way it does and has the abilities that it does? under this timeline, robin hood is goro’s general persona in response to the world’s injustices, while loki is a persona in direct response to the stress and horror imposed on him by being a part of shido’s conspiracy.

all that black mask junk? all that cynicism? all that disillusionment with the ideas of justice? theoretically, that would have first been caused by the awful experience of being wrapped up in shido’s conspiracy, and then manifested into a persona by shido for his own political agenda.
