The Australian Rainbow Lorikeet is one of my most favorite birds, and the orchid one of my favorite flowers. So much so I just had to combine the two in this piece I title “Tropical Cocktail”.  Check ‘em out at https://www.redbubble.com/people/artbysmith/

CALL TO ARMS
A Movement has begun.
People, especially the younger generations, are joining with others from the world to launch the largest battle in the history of mankind.
Mankind, that word should have new meaning for all of us today. As inhabitants of Earth we cannot be consumed by our petty differences anymore. The time has come for us all to be united in our common interest. The battle ... our fight ... is not for freedom, but survival, not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution. But from our annihilation.
As custodians of the world in which we all strive to live, we each bear the responsibilities passed to us by our long line of ancestors and forebears. It is not our right to live, but our will to exist and that of our children and their children, and the generations that hopefully will follow that demands we take the battle to global warming.
Mankind bears sole responsibility for where it stands today ... on the brink of annihilation. The evidence is everywhere for us all to see and no amount of argument or denial can or will change the scientific facts ... the truth.
The time has arrived for the world, from the most powerful leaders to those of us who cannot or will not see beyond today ... for Mankind to declare with one voice; “We will not go quietly into the night. We will not vanish without a fight. We’re going to live on. We’re going to survive.”
The fight is at our doorsteps. Do we cherish our children? Our families? Generation Y (Millennials), Generation Z, and the latest - Generation Alpha? Do those of us in our twilight years merely hand over the battle to them in the vain hope they win the fight ... or do we join them, thus enhancing their chance to win ... to survive?
Let the decision makers, our world leaders, hear our call to arms. Help spread the word.

My latest art, THE OLD MAN OF THE KEYS, is finished and, more surprisingly (to me, at least) sold within days!!!!  Size: 30″ x 18″, color pencil on Crescent colored art board.  I used an 1885 map of Florida as reference, the lighthouse depicts the Key West Lighthouse (circa 1850), and the sailboat is of “Christeen”, the oldest oyster sloop in the U.S.  Limited signed prints will be available.

And being an Aussie, my favorite bird from back home is the Australian Rainbow Lorikeet. Done in color pencil. As you can tell, I simply LOVE animals regardless of the form they come in.
