It's really fucking depressing to be a Warhammer fan currently

Depending on your source, the original name was "Satanael" or "Satanas"---which eventually got shortened to "Satan" as languages evolved. But "-ael" or "-iel" is a sound that appears in many angels' names (such as Michael, Raphael, Azrael, Gabriel and Ariel)

Many Hebrew names have an "-ah" sound, which denotes God's favor or having been blessed: before the Covenant (being ignorant of God's existence), Abraham and Sarah were called "Abram/Ibram" and "Sara/Sarai". But in the many languages influenced by one or more of the Abrahamic religions, children are often named after these and other Biblical figures

As some people have headcanoned, the Seven Deadly Sins originally represented the virtue opposite of their sin: for example, Mammon (Greed) being Charity and Asmodeus (Lust) being Chastity. Though "Temperance" can be used to describe restraining or abstaining from any indulgence or extreme emotion, because the root word "Temper" commonly refers to one's anger or patience, that would be more fitting for pre-fall Satan (Wrath)

How to tempt an angel to betray Heaven? That was the key question here. Hell had plenty of things Heaven strictly forbid, but what would nearly cause someone to fall to damnation? Easy enough for humans, though angels had stronger convictions.

Satan actually pondered this for a moment. It had been some time since Hell spied on Heaven, though that was for strictly military purposes. No one had tried to infiltrate their society or the civilian areas.

"Well, it would have to be someone on the inside..." the Sin thought aloud. "We might have angels and demons visiting each other, but they wouldn't invite any hellions into their private paradises."
