If an animagus potion requires the brewer to hold a mandrake leaf in their mouths for a month, imagine James, Sirius, and Peter…going silent for a MONTH.
After a week alone all of the students at Hogwarts would be SO on edge.
Since I'm on [redacted]'s backstory, there are a few echoes in those chapters that are... well.
Like this one:
Right - children at play. Left - men at war. [redacted] wins at both. But he also doesn't. Because '...how many thousands of bodies...'?
Right - [redacted]. Left - also [redacted]. Maybe he was born for this? Maybe he's always been a shadow? No. No one is born for this.
Top - little boy seeing his childhood in ruins. Bottom - little girl seeing her whole world collapse.
And the anime really drives it home. Good for them. But also, stop trying to make us cry!!
I have cannot exactly explain why - maybe it's because of the smouldering ash heaps that are tributes to war - but when [redacted] tries to convince himself he knows Ostanian's evils, I've always associated it with...
...what Handler tells the student terror cell in Doggy Crisis Arc. And given the gist of what Sylvia is saying - that war makes monsters of us all, that when we see others as less than human, we become less too - I think we're probably suppose to link the two images. Which, err... it may or may not say a lot about Twilight without the manga saying anything out loud. The imagination fills in the gaps.
The past and the present are for better or worse, very much intertwined in SxF (and I guess, in the real world too). But that's the thing - those echoes and rhymes are disconcerting because it means it doesn't take a lot for the present to repeat the sins of the past. Hence Handler's rhetorical question to the university students...
Did not expect that last post to get that much love, thanks guys :) I’m wrapping up my exams and another commission, but for now here’s a colored version that I made a couple weeks ago.
