a sigh of relief escaped his lips at her words when she said he didn’t make things weird. not only did she confirm that things were okay between them but that she also felt exactly the same way that he did this entire time. “that’s what i was worried about plus i didn’t want to push you into anything when you recently got out of a relationship.” he admitted to her. even though it had been a few months since her break up and she seemed to be doing better he wasn’t sure how she really felt yet but at least he knew she shared those same feelings. “but trust me i feel the exact same way. i just couldn’t hide my feelings any more.”
she couldn’t take the small grin off her face as he spoke, a sense of relief/contentment washing over her as she relaxed back into him. “you didn’t push me, but i do appreciate you taking care of me after that whole ordeal.” she takes his larger hand in hers and laces their fingers together, her head resting comfortably on his shoulder once again. “im glad this is how it turned out, i’ve been close to telling you for awhile but i was just too scared of it turning sour.” which she was, she thought so many times of how she would tell him but eventually came to the conclusion that it wasn’t worth the possible end of their friendship. luckily it didn't have to end that way.

bella didn’t remember much from last night, her last memory being of her rambling on to the poor bartender about how her asshole of a boyfriend had cheated on her. again. she had recognized the bartender from her past visits at the bar, they had had their fair share of chats, but she had never spilled so much of her personal life to someone she barely knew. — she didn’t know what she was expecting to wake up to after drinking her weight in vodka, but it definitely wasn’t an unfamiliar bedroom. she guessed sitting up slowly would hurt less on her throbbing head, a glance in the mirror making her realize just how messed up she looked. after a bad attempt of fixing her appearance, she slowly emerged from the bedroom door, only to see the bartender from the night before in the kitchen. “what am i doing here?” she muttered, speaking low so she didn’t irritate her migraine even further. all kinds of thoughts were swimming through her mind, the main one being if she had slept with a guy who’s name she only learnt the night prior. even though she was pretty relieved that she recognized the face before her.

it was too late to take back his words now, yeah he could play it off like it wasn’t that serious that it was just their typical i love you’s but he wasn’t going to. “that’s because it was a little more serious than the regular ones.” he told her his voice still quiet as he watched her carefully. it was hard to see any kind of reaction from her considering the lighting in the room but she hadn’t really pulled or sounded like his words were such a horrible thing. jaxon knew that now was the time to be honest and to stop putting his feelings on the back burner but he was still worried that he was going to mess up their entire friendship. “did i make things weird? because we can definitely pretend like i didn’t say anything.”
she didn’t expect him to feel the same way as she did, but she couldn’t say she hadn’t imagined them having this conversation ten times over. “you didn’t make things weird.” her voice was quiet too, her hand tracing patterns on his chest as she focused on steadying her heartbeat which was going crazy. “i’ve liked you for a long time, i just never wanted to ruin our friendship if you didn’t feel the same way.” she shot him a shy smile, feeling a little less nervous now that she had finally aired her feelings, and she was even more relieved that he felt the same way.

she was so incredibly close that he could kiss her and he knew he should just open up about his feelings because this wasn’t healthy for him to just hold all of this back. plus one day if he didn’t say anything she was going to find someone and then he would have to live with the regret of never telling her. a small smile spread on his own lips at her own words. “i love you too.” but the words came out quiet and the teasing tone in his voice was gone because he meant those words completely and he was very serious about that. his eyes flicked over her face, trying to see if there was any reaction there or if she just took it as a friend type of i love you.
the serious sound in his voice made her eyebrows prick up, and she hoped that it wasn’t just her imagination playing with her. she had always hoped that he would feel the same way about her that she did about him, but she never thought it would actually be a reality. “that sounded a little more serious than our regular i love you’s.” she knew she was blood red at this point, thankfully the only light was coming from the television. this was her attempt at being forward, and she hoped that it didn’t do terribly or she would have to flee her own house and never see him ever again.

“yeah fuck, i know…” he just had hoped his mom wouldn’t freak out like some maniac. antoni had hoped she would’ve just been nice and just process the thought for a bit. he walked over to her as apologetic eyes looked at her. “do you wanna go for a walk? get out of here for a while…”
“yeah, sure.” she muttered quietly, leading the way to the door that seemed to lead to outside. thankfully she didn’t have to walk past his mom another time which wouldn't have been fun. “just don’t expect me to come back here.” she was being snappy, but she felt she had every right to be after what had just happened.

“or maybe i just can’t lie to you, have you thought of that?” he pointed out, a grin still playing on his lips as his eyes scanned her face. it was too dark for him to really see anything but she didn’t pull away from his touch and maybe he was trying to look for any small thing to convince himself that maybe she did feel something back for him. “well at least you think i’m pretty.” jaxon teased her, letting his fingers go back to her hair as he let them play with the silky ends. “but i am a little hurt that you don’t love me nearly as much as i thought you did, aves. i’m not sure my heart will ever heal from that.”
“never thought about it like that.” she muttered with a smirk, her eyebrows lifting as she looked down at him. it would be easy for her to simply lean down and kiss him, that is if she actually had the guts to do it. which she clearly didn’t. “who wouldn’t think this adorable face is pretty?” she grinned, her hands reaching for his cheeks and pinching them gently. “you’re so dramatic. you know i love your dumb ass.” she smiled, leaning back on her elbow, her attention completely away from the movie which she wasn’t complaining about.

a laugh left his lips at her reaction, knowing right away that was the reaction he would have gotten from her. “oh i don’t know if i’ll be able to stay up i’m just so tired.” he told her, trying to make give her an innocent look as he pretended to yawn but he couldn’t stop the grin that grew on his lips shortly after. jaxon let his hand move to the side of her face, his fingers tucking back some loose strands of her hair behind her hair before letting them linger on the side of her. “you wouldn’t dare.” he told her, raising an eyebrow at her as if he was challenging her. “you love me too much to do that.”
“you’re the worst liar i’ve ever met.” she grinned, slapping his chest gently, her hand resting in its position and tapping against him. she felt a blush creep up on her cheeks once he touched her, her eyes widening for a split second but going back to normal almost instantly. she hoped her blush was disguised by the dimly lit room, or that he would just ignore her obviously red face. “oh you're gonna use the L word?” she teased, tilting her head to the side slightly. “i don't know if i love you that much, i would still pour water over your pretty little head.”

his gaze is lost on her figure as she rummages around the cooler. blue hues quickly avert when her head lifts, and aiden knows things will just turn awkward if he’s caught looking. they were supposed to be friends having a day at the beach – nothing more. “uh– no.” his nose crinkles slightly and he shifts next to her, digging through a bag to find the bottle. for a second, aiden panics that he hasn’t packed it at all; after a few more moments of searching, however, the male produces it and holds it out to lily. “can you put some on me? i’m more fun when i’m not sun burnt, i swear.”
placing her water on the towel she was sitting on, lily took the bottle of sun screen from his hand and nodded her head. “yeah, i can imagine you’re a real bitch when you’re burnt.” she teased, crawling over to him and sitting behind him on her knees. spraying the cream into her hands, she began rubbing it into his back and shoulders, making sure to cover everything. luckily for her he couldn’t see her face, which she was sure was beet red at their positioning right now. she had done pretty well thus far at not being too obvious about her attraction to him, and she wasn’t about to ruin that now. “all done.” she said, patting his back before returning back to her seat on the towel.

he wasn’t sure if he was going to go after avery or tell it to his mother straight, that he himself decided who he was gonna be with. they were judgmental people, a part of antoni was too but not when it came to avery. she had won both his love and trust quickly. but soon his father joined in on the conversation, telling them to calm down and not cause a big scene with all the people behind. which cased some more screaming on his part because he wasn’t going to break it off with avery, no matter his parents twisted opinions. and then he stormed off, finally going after her. he asked around amongst the waiters if they had seen them. “avery…” antoni said in an exhale as he found her alone. “i’m sorry… i shouldn’t have brought you here, i never thought they would be this bad.”
she was alone in the hallway for awhile, figuring that he had chosen to stand a listen to his mom over finding her. which one half of her understood, knowing that it was his mom and he couldn’t just walk away from her. but the other half of her was pretty mad that he had left her alone for all that time. she heard him coming, but couldn’t bring herself to look at him. choosing to set her focus on the floor instead. “yeah, this is probably the shittiest idea you’ve had yet.” she knew she was being harsh, but what else was she supposed to say. “maybe we would have just been better away from the eyes of your parents.” she muttered, a hand tugging at a strand of hair.

“it almost sounds like you don’t trust my cooking.” he teased knowing fully well that that’s not what she meant by her sentence at all but he just loved to poke fun at her. “wake you up to some eggs and coffee, just you wait.” jaxon insisted and when she had lifted her head up to look at him he was so tempted to just kiss her but it had been too quick of a glance and he had overthought it for too long. his arms stayed wrapped around her tightly, knowing all the parts of the film that would make her scared. “i’m okay with that but just letting you know that i might be the one who falls asleep at that point. i’m already cozy and warm so don’t be surprised if you hear me snoring in a bit.”
“that’s not what i meant, idiot.” she said with a laugh, slapping his chest gently. “you know, eggs and coffee actually sound pretty good.” she smiles whilst tucking the blanket up to her face, just so she was ready for the next scary part. she could feel his arms tighten around her which only made her smile even more, luckily she could hide it under the blanket. “i hope you know you’re not falling asleep until this movie has ended completely and the comedy has started, or i’ll force you to stay awake with me.” she leans up on her elbow to look down at him with a smirk. “im not afraid to pour water on your head.”

jaxon was beyond comfortable right now and he could honestly be like this for the rest of the night. “you should already know i love your company.” he pointed it out to her. a deep chuckle left his lips at her words. “i had a feeling that you’d need me to protect you tonight. don’t worry, i’ll spend the night to make sure you’re nice and safe.” jaxon promised her as his fingers mindlessly started to draw small patterns up and down her arm. “i’ll even make breakfast, it’s the least i can do for you considering i picked this movie out.” again he was trying his best to not laugh, knowing that it was a little mean of him to pick this movie out but at the same time he was enjoying the fact that he had his arms wrapped around her.
“i love your company too.” she mumbled with a smile, the mixture of being warm and in bed and his fingers running up and down her arm would usually send her straight to sleep, but the movie was doing a pretty good job at keeping her wide awake. “you don’t have to make me breakfast, but im not going to stop you from doing it.” she lifted her head up to glance at him before settling it back down, hiding slightly as the music began picking up in the movie, hinting that a jump scare was probably coming. “we’re definitely watching a comedy after this.”
