Hello, hello. Okay so hsr ask, and Lynx happened and brain went “hmm”

What if reader is Serval’s s/o, but sometime after they start dating reader’s sent to the arctic plains for some reason and they meet Lynx. Become friends, found sibling dynamic even, and then conveniently Lynx is scheduled to head back to Belobog city at the same time as reader. In the way back, reader brings up the whole “hey Lynx, there’s something that might come up, it’s not that important but imkindadatingserval” “…wait, WHAT”(idk im just spitballing i’m sorry I think I need more sleep) and how she reacts to the relationship(I suppose at this point Gerpard’s there too). Bonus points if Serval tries to use the gf card to get reader to tell her and Gepard who Lynx is taking a trip with(it’s in Lynx’s quest in case you haven’t gotten to it) and either reader caves or hopefully they keep Lynx’s secret and just tell the sibs that she’s going with someone they know and openly think highly of(Pela)

before, you would’ve believed that there would be no reason for you to ever explore the snow plains — all that was out there was snow, and traces of what used to be — but above all, there was the fragmentum. the only reason you went in the first place wasn’t because of your own curiosities; no, you treasured your life more than willingly exposing yourself to monsters and endangering yourself in the sheer cold. you went out to the snow plains because of a favour.

and on said trip, you came across a blonde-haired girl donning a fluffy cat-eared beanie — that’s how you came to know lynx. she knew her way around things in these snowy outskirts much better than you did, and she didn’t seem to mind giving you directions to the specific area you were trying to find. everything looked the same, anyway — it’s all thickly blanketed in layers of snow. you surely would’ve gotten a bit lost without a guide around.

originally, you hoped that this trip would be your first and your last. you didn’t have any plans to return to the snow plains, not when remaining within the walls of the city of belobog, safe from the frost, was already perfectly fine. but over time, after getting to know the girl who eventually became like a little sister figure to you, your aversion to the idea of having another trip to the snow plains — and willingly this time — was.. gradually decreased. with a bit of convincing, you went to see the auroras with her.

you’d mentioned it in passing to serval during one conversation. “you know my sister?” she replied with surprise, smiling as she leaned on her workshop counter. “she’s your sister?” you repeated incredulously. over the duration of your friendship with lynx, she’d mentioned family at some point, but she never actually said who they were. you wouldn’t have thought that she was related to your girlfriend — there were surely some similarities, but you didn’t want to just assume. but the more you thought about it, the more you realised that the two were actually quite similar...

“well, if you’re the one accompanying her, i’m sure i could trust that the both of you will be safe.” serval laughed, and in the true fashion of an older sister, she spent some time telling you some cute or funny anecdotes about lynx (and gepard too, in some) when the three of them were younger.

the knowledge of this had been in your mind the entire time during your stargazing and aurora-watching trip with lynx. you tried to bring it up as casually as possible on the way back..

“hey, lynx?”

“yeah?” she replied, double-checking the items within her rucksack.

“well, i thought i should tell you — i’m... dating your sister..?”

that’s when she stopped walking. “you’re what??”

you’re dating serval? since when? wait, and how long have you known that they’re related? were you able to tell from the beginning? or did serval already tell you about her before you met? have you known the entire time? oh no, are you secretly telling serval and gepard when she takes her trips?? ...did they send you to try and look after her?!

you reassured lynx that although you’ve been dating serval for a while before you met her, finding out that they were siblings was actually only a recent discovery.

it isn’t really lynx’s business who her sister dates, nor does she have any sort of control over it.. but after the revelation that you’re her lover, the youngest landau’s perception of you changes slightly. (it’s nothing bad, it’s just the shock of it getting to her.) but, well, over the duration of your friendship, you seemed like a pretty good person.. so nothing changes too much, really. lynx can trust you.

serval indeed does try to pull the girlfriend card in an attempt to convince you to tell her and gepard who lynx is meeting up with in the snow plains other than you. it’s.. sort of peer pressure, cornered there with the both of them asking you. should you side with lynx, or side with serval..??

you understand their worry, of course — as older siblings, serval and gepard are just concerned about the safety of their little sister. but lynx wants to be more independent, and doesn’t like being coddled by them so much.

..in the end, you do cave (peer pressure smh)

surely, if they know that it’s just pela, they’ll relax about it. since lynx is having these trips with someone who’s both familiar and trustworthy to the two of them, there’s nothing to worry about.

plus, that means they won’t have to do any snooping (or send someone else to do any snooping for them), and lynx won’t have to find out that her older siblings were trying to do anything. so really it’s a win-win in the end?

despite his responsiblities as the luofu’s general, 90% of the time he’s somehow free whenever you approach him for things

jing yuan is also 100% happy to spoil you, a lot — he believes that you deserve the best, after all!

what do you mean he can’t spend just a bit of money for you? just this one time? (it isn’t just this one time, and won’t be.) sure, it might seem like it’s a lot of strales (..it is,) but you don’t have to worry about it, he’s got more than enough :)

buys you lots of little things quite often, small presents and trinkets, something like a keychain or an interesting book he spotted, or just your favourite foods from aurum alley

jing yuan also regularly plays xianzhou starchess with you. he’s proud of having taught you many different strategies — a goood amount being ones that you’ve learned from observing his tactics during your games. he’s quite proud of that, it’s made your observational skills sharper, after all! but, even if you’re equipped with lots of knowledge on how he usually plays, it’s still always a challenge to beat him, especially since he keeps somehow managing to one-up you, leaving you baffled, or trying to pull things mid-match without you noticing LMAO

it’s become a bit of a game between the two of you. a passerby could see you and jing yuan intensely staring at the board in silence, occasionally glancing at each other, and they’d think that the general and his child must be having an intense match of starchess — but really you two are just examining each other to try and figure out what their tactic is and when you can find a good time to snatch a piece /j

while he doesn’t talk about the past that much, since those times were rather... complicated, and also he doesn’t really see much reason to randomly speak about it. but he does mention some tidbits here and there if you ask him, but sometimes they’re also the most jaw-dropping things that you’ve ever heard, and then it leaves you doing a double take while you process that information he just dropped out of the blue like that — imagine hearing stories about the high cloud quintet for the first time

he also teaches you combat, although he hoped that there wouldn’t be many occasions where you’d have to use those skills. it is undeniable that some areas of the luofu are quite dangerous, especially because of the mara-struck and the followers of sanctus medicus wandering about, but as a parent, he’d prefer that you never get into any dangerous situations if he can help it.

sometimes, you train alongside yanqing, who gets really excited and absolutely fired up at the prospect of getting to spar against you, more so when he actually gets a chance to. being the child of the general, how cool is that! you must be a strong opponent! you two give each other pointers sometimes — jing yuan is a proud father x2, he’s happy you and yanqing get along so well :)

although dan heng usually stays up much later than you do (always busy reading something, re-sorting the data bank entries, or updating it) he also consistently wakes up early. you often wake up at around the same time as he does, it’s something that you’re used to doing — but it’s rare for you be up before him.

if you’re still sleeping, he’ll let you sleep. he only wakes you when it reaches a certain hour, or if it’s important. before the two of you had joined the express, he’d quietly sit near you while you sleep and make sure no harm comes to you.

while he just stays in the archives as his ‘room’ rather than taking one of the cabins, you have your own room. you did have some objections about him just sleeping on the express’ archive room floor and using a simple sleeping bag, but he seemed to be fine with it, and insisted that you take a room instead. so you just decided not to argue about it.

things became much more relaxed after you two joined the astral express. dan heng mostly lets you do what you like, since he doesn’t have to always be by your side to make sure you’re safe anymore. he knows that he can trust that the others would also do their part in helping protect you if anything does happen.

when you go on trailblazing missions alongside the other astral expressers, visiting other planets, he knows that you should have independence and he doesn’t always have to be looking after you, but he’d prefer to still stick around so that he knows that you’re safe. after all, you’re in an unfamiliar environment, and there could be dangers unknown to you all. aeons forbid you get hurt somehow and he doesn’t know about it.

if you ask him to buy something for you, he’d probably say no initially, especially if it’s something that doesn’t really have any use. but he actually caves really easily if you plead him.

now for the type of life you faced while still residing in the luofu, specifically during the time that became a well-known event that went down in the ship’s history — the sedition of imbibitor lunae.

you yourself had not taken part in the crime that dan feng committed, and thus it would not have been right for the vidyadhara’s council of preceptors to punish you as well. so while he was taken to the shackling prison to undergo molting rebirth, you weren’t even allowed to see him in those last moments before he was forced to reincarnate — instead, you were put into isolation.

you pleaded to be able to visit him, to anyone who would listen. but it didn’t work. they all told you that such a thing would not be possible. they believed that they hid it well, but although you were still quite young by vidyadhara standards, you noticed the distrust in their eyes. if someone as respectable as their high elder could commit such a grave sin, how could they fully trust his sibling as well?

the next time you saw your brother, he was still ‘him’, yet not ‘him’ at all.

he insisted on an identity separated from that of his previous reincarnation, and was willing to face the consequences of dan feng’s sins in his stead, if it meant that he could leave behind the shadows of the past.

but what about you? an ever-present and vital part of the past that he didn’t want anything to do with? he may have been freed from the scorn of the xianzhou luofu, and stripped of his title as the vidyadhara’s high elder, but it might have been too cruel to simply leave you alone on your own.

the decision was difficult, you could see it in his eyes. you were already bracing for the worst. but, to your surprise, he said that you could go with him if you wanted. the both of you were aware of the consequences of each action; if you stayed at the luofu, there was no telling what the council preceptors would decide to do with you, as a direct relative of the now-infamous imbibitor lunae. if you went with dan heng, that would mean that you would most likely never be able to return to your home.

this incarnation of your older brother was no longer the one you remembered — close family, yet a complete stranger — yet, there was still that sense of care you recognised within him.

you would have to get to know him all over again, but you felt like that was definitely something that the both of you would be able to do over time. in the end, he’s still your brother, and you’re still his sibling.

you bake?? he thinks that’s pretty cool!

and it makes him so indescribably touched whenever you gift him some things that you’ve baked yourself before he has to go on duty, like in the mornings before he has to patrol, or in the afternoons and evenings when the day’s work is done and over with

it’s something tasty to munch on (bonus points because it’s made by you!) and a snack that’s easy to bring around with him

(the other silvermane guards don’t fail to notice every time they see him walking around with some little baked treat in hand, and a tiny smile on his face)

gepard hasn’t really tried cooking, baking, etc, but it’s been something that he’s been interested in learning for a while

once tried his hand at baking because he wanted to give you something back — cupcakes should be simple enough? he tried his best, he really did!! it didn’t turn out as well as he’d hoped, but he tried to decorate them as pretty as possible for you

in the end, he made little smiley faces on the cupcakes. they’re a bit wonky, but he’s got the spirit

he got really embarrassed when he eventually gave them to you since they felt sub-par, especially compared to the things that you can make. sheepishly, he suggested that maybe the two of you could have dates where you can bake together, so that he can learn from you..? if you’re fine with that, of course..!

it always brightens her day every time you drop by her store and gift her a pastry! the food itself is definitely delicious, but the thing that really makes her happy is the fact that she’s seeing you &lt;3

serval actually likes your baking a lot, and she’d probably try to bribe you in order to get you to make some more for her lmaoo

“hey, i really liked those biscuits you gave me the other day — do you have any more of them?? aw.. c’mon, i’ll play you a free song if you make me some moreee.... haha, i know i already do that anyways, but..”

her favourites are the types that are good to eat on the go, just something easy to grab while she does something else. since she’s usually spending her time tinkering with different sorts of mechanical contraptions or random instruments in her workshop, it’s convenient to have something either bite-sized or easy to finish while she works

super interested in your hobby!! she’d really like while you bake, probably trying to join in at the most fun parts like making (and testing) the icing

march also becomes your (self proclaimed) unofficial photographer for when the food’s all ready to eat! right after it comes out of the oven, she’ll be taking so many photos at different angles and making sure the lighting looks good — so that even though she can’t preserve the taste of the things you’ve baked, she’ll remember how delicious they looked!

as well as using the photos to show off how good her amazing s/o is at baking LMAO

march also slips in a few snaps of you during the baking process, or would poke flour on your nose and then take a silly selfie of you

she’d also pretend to be a professional food critic when she tastes what you’ve made — but she always loves whatever you make, so the rating always ends up being the highest she could give you every time

i got him on the first day he was out lmao, i lost the 50/50 to yanqing but got blade in the pull directly after

luocha is really good to have on the same team as him, his healing is so good??? i don’t have him though so i use my friend’s support 😭 if another abundance character comes out who has healing as good as him im definitely getting them… or maybe my bailu is just terrible

it began with that time he saw you stub your toe and kind of double over in pain but then you went to another room to fetch something and he still heard you say “ow—”

blade still didn’t do or say anything about it but he’s suddenly becoming more aware of how often you manage to bump into things everywhere 😭

until it became kind of noticeable how he stands in your general vicinity a bit more, making sure makes sure that you remain within an arm’s reach so that he can pull you away from bumping into yet another item just a second before it happens

you brought it up at some point, and he dismisses it by saying something about how he’s just annoyed at how you always run into things as if you don’t look where you’re going, so he’s just stopping that from happening more, that’s all

jing yuan

you could just be minding your own business and trying to stay alert of your surroundings but still manage to bump into something — it puzzles him a little to see how this seems to happen so often, but it’s also mildly amusing. just a tiny bit.

since this happens to you quite frequently, you probably get lots of accidental bruises or cuts from the hips down, so he makes it a habit to always have some band-aids in his pocket for you

would probably try to minimise the risks for you and get furniture that has less sharp corners or edges to make it less painful if — actually, scratch that, when — you bump into them

also uses this as an excuse to have his arm around your waist more often LMAO (under the excuse of helping you stop bumping into things if you’re this close by to him)

your innate talent of running into things was probably the first thing he noticed about you LMAOO

like. how do you manage to do that?? all the time?? and it still happens whether or not he tries to keep an eye on you or accompanies you where you go

dan heng probably briefly considered looking through the archives to see if this was something that happened to other people as well

because who knows what kind of things happen on other planets. people from punklorde perceive reality as a game, and people from xianzhou get mara-struck, so it’s probably possible that such regular clumsiness could be something that just Happens™ to people from a certain planet??

in the end he’s sort of resigned himself to accepting that it’s just something interesting about you — kind of like how march can somehow understand diting?? except it’s you bumping into things

he also tries to minimise the risks, and at some point asked himeko or welt if it was possible to modify the furniture in the express a little bit so that the edges aren’t as sharp

while it helps a little, there seems to be no way to fully [name]-proof any place 😞 (he will work towards it!!! or try to, at the least)

as we all know, march is very fond of taking pictures. she takes selfies with you or just photos of you all the time, and as i’ve said in this other post, she has a section of her photo wall that’s dedicated to photos with you in it!

there’s no such thing as a bad photo of you, in her eyes — every photo that she takes of you, even if it looks a little silly, is worth treasuring

whenever the two of you go out together, she really likes to take your hand in hers and intertwine your fingers. usually, she does this with a giggle, and then suddenly gets more pep in her step once the two of you are holding hands.

i think her favourite kinds of dates are ones where the two of you go shopping together — march really likes picking out some outfits for you that she thinks you’d look absolutely great in, seeing you try it on, and then she’ll gush about how amazing you look!

of course, she’d definitely let you do the same for her. she loves trying on your clothing suggestions! it’s rather difficult to stay within the budget when you go on shopping dates, because there’s just so many clothes that look good :(

when march gets some juice or asks for some from the conductor, she always asks for an extra drink — one of your favourite flavour of juice (or just your favourite beverage instead, if juice isn’t your thing)

or, you could share a drink with her!! she wouldn’t mind :D

she’s a very big cuddle bug. she really likes hugging you. she gives you a big hug every time she greets you, and then every time you two have to part ways for the day

gives you some pins and badges just like the ones that she wears. now you’re matching!!

she likes to show off her fighting skills — watch how cool she is! she can protect you easy-breezy, just watch!

while march is practically a bundle of energy, expressive and always at the ready for excitement and adventure, you were practically the complete opposite to her. subdued, tired, would much rather be staying in one place rather than running around here and there all the time. where you lacked in terms of energy, march made up for it.

oh my god it’s that one meme

most would probably wonder how two clearly contrasting personalities would have fallen in love like the two of you did. with someone as extroverted and outgoing as march, you’d expect her to better enjoy the company of someone who matched that energy, rather than someone who’s her polar opposite. you two just manage to make it work. as they say, opposites attract, after all!

march does try and bring you along with her wherever she’s going (or, at the very least, would enthusiastically encourage you to), pulling you by the hand towards whatever’s caught her eye while she chatters about something.

if you don’t feel up to it, she won’t push, of course — but she’ll be taking an extra amount of photos so that she could recount it to you later!

she honestly takes this as grounds to tease you and attempt to find what makes you tick — she finds it as a fun challenge to see what would be able to make your expression shift.

having an unreadable demeanour is an advantage in her profession, as well as having the ability to maintain a calm exterior no matter what the situation. so really, kafka mostly doesn’t have any qualms about your behaviour, especially since it also gives her a bit of entertainment from time to time

well, she doesn’t have any qualms about it until you rock up with a concerning injury, but seem to be regarding it with nothing but utter nonchalance.

her light plum eyes narrow slightly, examining the long cut down your arm with a hint of scrutiny within her gaze. kafka ‘tsk’s, glancing up to meet your eyes for a moment; a silent question wondering about how you’re so calm about this.

despite how her hands are quick to reach out and grasp your arm, her hold on you is gentle.

she pulls you closer, saying something about how you shouldn’t take your injuries so lightly. kafka whisks you away to a more secluded place and has you sit down while she takes on the role of your temporary personal medic.

“you should take more care of your own wellbeing, alright? sit still and let me treat your wounds.” her words are spoken with something like a drawl, tilting her head as she speaks, but she pats your head and gets to work with helping you afterwards.

well, then you wouldn’t be the only one on the astral express who exhibits calm behaviour all the time — but admittedly, you’re more proficient at keeping it up than dan heng is.

he tells himself that it’s one less thing to worry about, since your other companions are already quite the group to take care of. march is always running off to take photos or poke in others’ business, and the trailblazer’s probably digging through trash cans for... who knows what, honestly.

you’re reliable and composed, and he appreciates this aspect of you. it’d certainly come in handy in many situations, and so again, he tells himself that he doesn’t have to worry about you...

but he is still very much worried.

especially upon spotting the thin but long cut on the side of your torso.

his eyebrows furrow — this is one of the few situations where you actually manage to catch a glimpse of him showing pure unconcealed concern.

dan heng sighed, inquiring about how you even got that and if it hurts a lot. regardless of your response to the either question, he’s already on helping clean and patch up the injury. “battles are inevitable along our journey, but you should be more on-guard next time.” he said, checking his handiwork and making sure that the bandages were secure.

jing yuan

it’s part of what makes you very interesting to him, actually — seeing how most things never really crack your solid exterior.

people don’t usually come across someone like you every day. even for xianzhou natives, who naturally have much longer lifespans than others, don’t often meet someone with your level of calm. even jing yuan himself couldn’t say that he’s met many individuals who share your traits, even with his experience.

it’s good to be levelheaded in a fight, whether it be physical or verbal. jing yuan quietly appreciates your ability to keep a clear mind and keep your sights set on the goal. it’s a good skill for people to have on the battlefield.

it’s simultaneously fascinating and concerning to see how you still don’t bat an eye even when you’re injured. for a brief moment, jing yuan ponders over whether he should accompany you the next time you are headed out into the places on the luofu which are more packed with mara-struck soldiers.

he knows that you’re a capable fighter on your own, but how could you expect him not to worry on your behalf when you’ve ended up injuring yourself like this?

however, tending to your wounds takes precedence over those other matters, so he pushes that aside and helps you out first.

the general certainly isn’t a medical professional, but he at least knows how to dress a wound. with many years of experience on the battlefield under his belt, this comes naturally to him. after cleaning the gash, he carefully wraps the bandages around the injured area, asking you if it’s too tight and then asking again to double-check, since he finds that attempting to get a read on your expression didn’t really work too much.

jing yuan sighs, reminding you that you should be more careful next time. would you need your injuries checked by lady bailu after this? he’ll accompany you on the way there.

but, unlike him, you don’t possess that same self-healing ability that he has, so while it may be ironic of him to do so, he’s silently questioning your pain management abilities.

blade doesn’t usually spare anyone a second look, but if you keep a careful eye out, you might catch him taking a surreptitious glance at you, silently giving your wounds a once-over. it’s curious how you manage to stay that calm even when you’re injured like that.

the sight of you getting hurt in some shape or form was a bit of a common occurrence, but no matter the severity of the injuries, you still maintained that unbothered demeanour.

huh. with that sort of behaviour you display, you’d expect someone like that to manage to not get into this many scuffles, but here you were.

clearly, out of the other stellaron hunters, you seemed more injury-prone. maybe it was something that balanced out your stoic countenance. blade has half the mind to simply drag you back to a safer area himself just to get you away from danger.

he mutters some form of curse or complaint under his breath as he sits you down onto the ground then crouches in front of you, lifting your left calf to inspect the injury. “how do you always manage to do this?” he muttered, earning no response.

that fragmentum creature had swiped at your calf and also left a small burn. blade raised an unimpressed eyebrow, seeing your still unchanged expression.

he may be uttering some complaints and saying that he shouldn’t have to look after you like some babysitter, but he in no way would tend to your injury sloppily. in contrast to his remarks, he handles your wound carefully. before you knew it, it’s been skilfully cleaned and bandaged up. “rest it.” he tells you. he’s not completely sure if you’d follow that, though, so with a scoff, blade adds that he’ll make sure of it himself.

a kiss with dan heng is soft and gentle, like he’s careful not to go overboard. the sensation is cool and calming, akin to a light breeze in the middle of autumn. dan heng holds you securely like he doesn’t want to let you go. the moment is like a lasting dream, something that you wished would go on for just a little bit longer. when his lips part from yours, he can’t help the smile that ends up creeping onto his face; there’s something in his gentle gaze afterwards that seems like an underlying hope, a want for more.

What would it be like being his younger teen sibling, biologically? We know that Dan Heng isn't exactly expressive, but does that also include his younger sibling? If so, how does it affect the relationship?

dan heng had told you before, during the days that led up to the time that he finally made the decision to leave — he had told you many times that you didn’t have to follow him. following him would mean that you too would not be able to set foot in the place you grew up to see as home, and it meant that you’d get entangled in a mess of problems that weren’t yours to worry about; problems that were too heavy a burden that even dan heng was running away from it. problems that he could shield you from by being the only one to leave instead, which would mean that you’ll still have a chance to be offered a decent life if you choose to stay behind at the xianzhou luofu. but at your insistence, he finally relented and let you come along with him.

but now, he supposes, it might’ve actually been a good thing that you were so set on your decision. it gave him some sort of sense of security knowing that he could be able to look out for you himself rather than worrying if you’d be targeted if he just left you on your own back at the luofu. taking this path of escape surely wouldn’t be a smooth-sailing one, and the two of you had to change appearances and names, and move from place to place without a single solid one to settle down in. after all, you’d never know if the very thing dan heng was trying to run from would catch up again.

it was safer now, being with the astral express. there was a sense of stability that it brought you, knowing that this was a place you could stay and be treated like family by the other welcoming members.

in contrast to dan heng’s more reticent disposition, you were more relaxed and comfortable with carrying conversations with others, more open with things.

when you’re around people dan heng doesn’t trust or doesn’t know well enough — take sampo, for example, (sorry my guy) — you could notice that he’s a little bit more frigid than usual. it’s just that protective older sibling instinct, since he doesn’t want you to be getting yourself into any sort of trouble and that responsibility would fall onto him as your older brother — and you’re a teenager, too, so that sort of just raises the overall protectiveness. if he’s particularly inclined to ‘subtly’ stop the interaction, he’d cut in with some excuse like “i think it’s time for us to go back to the express to report back to mr. yang/miss himeko,” (a very frequently-used phrase from him, you realise. while you were no mind reader, as someone who’s known him for your whole life, seeing through his excuses definitely came easier to you than most.)

overall, your differing personalities seem to balance each other out in many ways. dan heng is the type of older sibling who would mostly let you explore as you like and do your own things without having to constantly watch you since he trusts that you’re responsible enough, but also doesn’t want to completely leave you alone in an unfamiliar area without him. he would prefer if he handles the combat himself — and if the situation gets to it, he will directly push you to the side and out of harm’s way so he could take the attack instead of you. he’s the type of sibling to occasionally buy random things for you that he thinks you’d like. for example, after finally resolving the belobog conflict and being allowed to walk through its streets without a bounty on all your heads, he would’ve definitely been ready to depart that planet and return to the express without further ado— ah, but on second thought... maybe after buying this book for you first.
