Exile’s Tachibana Kenchi as Fukui City Food PR Ambassador - “An Unlimited Possibility”.

Tachibana Kenchi (EXILE / EXILE THE SECOND) was appointed as Fukui Prefecture “Fukui City Food PR Ambassador” on the 30th [of March]. From now on, Tachibana would be supporting Fukui City Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries as well as processed goods on PR issues such as bringing more awareness to the local Soba [buckwheat], and supporting an increasing consumption.

On the same day,Tachibana was in Yokokan to attend the “Fukui City Food PR Ambassador Appointment Ceremony”. “While I would like to pass on the main message that Fukui City food has with it an unlimited possibility, there is also underlying strength of Japan’s primary industry and my favourite Sake [Japanese Wine].” Kenchi said with aspiration.

Tachibana has been working with Fukui Renhou Corporation Central City Office free newspaper “Fukui & Soba”, appearing on posters and organising food fairs at LDH kitchen’s stores, doing a great job with promoting Fukui City cuisine. And with these, he got the role of Fukui City Food PR Ambassador.

“Visiting streets, famous places and historical sites; getting in touch with a variety of ingredients brought to life with the locality and time spent together with everyone has made me realise that I have been charmed by this area.” said Tachibana and he added on, “There are more to learn on this journey and with Japanese Wine as a start, I would like to be engaged in the field of food in all area of Japan. I would like to contribute to every bit possible.”

And also, no one asked but I will say, 🌹 Sketch: First sketches are made with 0.7 Red Color Eno on 300 gsm cold pressed paper. Then lined with 0.5 regular mechanical pencil. The coloured pencils kinda dissolve in the acrylic paints, so I didn't clean them off. Also, they superrrr UV sensitive, they will ultimate fade. Erasing them all is too much a hassle and I like this little bit of roughness. 🌹 Skin: Skin tone is a mix of Pentel watercolour Pale Orange and Daler Rowney acrylic Burnt Umber (225). Make sure to have acrylic in your paint!! Pure watercolour will dissolve with ink and clog your lining pens! 🌹 Outline/Lines: Mitsubishi's Unipin Fine Line 0.8 all over. 0.05 and 0.2 for double eyelids, neckfolds and collarbones. :3 Staedtler pigment liner 0.2 for all shadows. Yuichiro's shirt: Sakura Ballsign 0.5 in Rose Keisei's: Uniball Signo RT 0.38 Black, Sakura Ballsign 0.5 Orange, Pilot Juice 0.5 Pastel Green Yuhi's: Pilot G2 0.7 Brown Suzuki: Uniball Signo RT 0.38 Black, Sakura Gelly Roll 0.8 White 🌹 Hair: Taka's Pilot G2 0.7 in brown on Daler Rowney Black (026), highlighted with Sakura Gelly Roll 0.8. Yuichiro's brown and white on Daler Rowney's Yellow Ochre (690). Keisei's white on black acrylic paint. Yuhi's brown and white on black paint. Ryoji's special!!! It was GOLD paint. :3 Daler Rowney Gold Lmit (701). Suzuki's white on 690 paint. And everyone is cut out with a scissors and painted with a Size 5 Round brush!!!

On Exile Tetsuya’s Book, 三つ編みライフ (Part 1 of a series...)

Oh!! Super お久しぶりですね！！！

I am barely into the 3rd chapter and how I wish I can just translate everything and deconstruct it further.

So, let’s just start on the basics.

The book looks like this.

The Japanese title reads: Mittsu Ami Raifu ~Yume wo Kanaeta 31 no Kotoba~

It translates to A Tri-woven Life ~31 words that fulfil dreams~

The three pieces that formed Tetsuya’s life braid are

A performer in EXILE (EXILE is the name of the band/music group Tetsuya is in and putting it in better context, the “performer” here is quite close to a layman’s understanding of a dancer. There is quite a very beautiful story to why and all, story another day!)

EPI Quality Director (EPI here is EXILE Performance Institute; basically it is a thing to expand the possibilities of dancing, focusing on nutrition, rest, and the such.)

Amazing Coffee Producer (I find this whole thing so beautiful; so, it started with Tetsuya having a personal interest in coffee, and one day it became Amazing Coffee <3.)

◼︎本人解説 「青」というのは、青春っていう意味と、自分が青かった日々、若かった日々ということです。そろそろ30歳を迎えようとしていたある日、地元の中学時代の同級生から「部屋を掃除してたらこんなものが出てきた」って昔の自分のプリクラがLINEで送られて来て、「あぁ、こんな時代もあったな」と懐かしい気分になったんです。夢を見て、恋もして、一生懸命がむしゃらにやってたなって。思い返してみると、それがすごく美しい日々に感じられて、この懐かしさで1曲書けそうだと思っていたら、「この街でキミに恋をして」っていうフレーズが浮かんで来たんです。それでピアノの前に座って作り始めた。地元の北海道・苫小牧は、自分にとって夢を描き始めた場所ですね。地元に帰ると初心に戻れる。だからこそ「未来に向かって頑張っていこう」というモチベーションも刺激されます。ここに里帰りしてるだけじゃダメなんだぞっていう自分への戒めというか、逆に厳しさを感じる場所でもありますね 。

Personal Note:

[The following is what Shokichi said about his song "青の日々" which literally means "Green Days," and translates to "Young Days".]

"Green" here refers to Youth, my own youth days, young days. As I was approaching my 30th, I got a message on LINE (messaging app commonly used on Japan) from a friend from my hometown who was in the same year as me in high school; "This thing came out as I was tidying my room."

[The Japanese school year begins in April and ends in March, so peeps can be in the same year but not always of the same age. Eg: someone born January 1984 will be in the same year as someone born May 1983.]

It was an old Purikura (Lit: Photo Club = photo sticker) of myself.

"Ahh, there was such a time," I got nostalgic.

Dreaming, falling in love, I frantically worked at all these. Thinking back on them, I was able to feel that they were really beautiful days. Thinking that I could write a song on this wistfulness, this phrase came floating in, "On this street I fell for you." And I sat in front of the piano and started composing.

My hometown, Hokkaido's Tomakomai, to me is where I started painting my dreams. I am able to return to my foremost resolution when I return to my hometown. For this reason, I was spurt and motivated by "Let's work hard towards the future."

Over here, I also caution myself that it can't be just about returning home, and so, on the other hand, this same place also gave off a feeling of discipline.

A White Set Up of Elegance

A formal baseball guy from Kyushu who holds a cooks' license, Kuroki Keiji is also a big brother among his group. With an air of dignity, Keiji spun each of his words with ease and grace, a natural "grown man".

"My original point, it has always been a 'Kyushu lad' raised on Kyushu soil. I say, I hate unjustified things and I can't live with my soul bent... ... (laughs). "Me wearing a white suit, I never even tried thinking (laughs) of that. Usually there is no chance to wear a white top and bottom, now that I get to wear it, I felt sort of a comforting tension. I have liked fashion since the past, from American casual to elegant suits. This unique taste, mood, and use of colours of Ralph Lauren, is indeed stylish and gentlemanly. This season gives off a very Spring feel from the brightly coloured pieces.”

And this time, let's ask about Kuroki's roots as an artist.

"Why I started dancing was after I watched [Dance Koshien] and ZOO on TV. Just as I was feeling lost from leaving baseball, which I have devoted myself to all along, I saw J Soul Brothers' Stage in my hometown, Miyazaki, unexpectedly. I found a new dream, through dance, I want to be just like 'these people'. After that, I learned that the members of J Soul Brothers became EXILE, and I left Miyazaki for Tokyo, wanting to be like EXILE in mind. Therefore, I owe it all to EXILE's leader Mr Hiro. Without EXILE, I wouldn't have reached here with dance. Because of all these meetings, I was able to become a member of EXILE and EXILE THE SECOND, just as I have dreamed of. I am really delighted."

"I have thought that Ralph Lauren Purple Label only fits a certain class of people. Actually I do have a few pieces of them... ... even so, with such class to them, I always wonder if I suit them. I often see AKIRA wearing them and for sure I think he looks great, and thanks to him, I am really honoured to have this opportunity."

TETSUYA, have been good friends with AKIRA and worked together as dancers since before he debuted. He then took on the role of an instructor at EXPG STUDIO in 2006, became part of the reborned J Soul Brothers, which merged with EXILE in 2009. TETSUYA also went on to get qualified as a Coffee Meister and produced [AMAZING COFFEE]  which opened in Tokyo and Nakameguro. This presence is a driving force behind EXILE TRIBE's "Food Culture."

"Personally, my original point was Dance. A lot of learning came with researching about dance. Setting up the EXILE Performance Institute (EPI QUALITY), striving to incorporate performing into dance, I was able to connect nature and coffee with entertaining customers in mind. I may look like a person who is doing a lot of different things, but everything is branched out from dance. After all, I am only doing things related to dance. The original point of my career, it has to do with meeting EXILE through AKIRA."

This is TETSUYA in a chic double breasted medium grey suit, together with a turtleneck and pocket square with checkered background and stripped blue.

"Tailored suit and turtleneck is something I have been getting into since around the end of last year. Since I had no chance to wear a double breasted suit, the moment I saw myself in the mirror, I liked it just like I met my 'new self.' Be it the silhouette or the using of the colour, how it adds on to the sophiticatedness is the best about this look."

A Sophisticated Outfit with an Air of Playfulness

Serving as Ralph Lauren's first Asian global model and ambassador to launch as the "face" of the brand on a world stage, AKIRA led the other members that very day dressed to the nines. He truly has a grand presence.

"Activities as ambassador this round are somewhat different, there is a theme to the outfits, that is fresh and fun. Although this is the first time everyone in EXILE THE SECOND are dressed in Ralph Lauren Purple Label, with a matured style in mind, we managed to bring in our own rules and backbone."

Their [Backbone], of course, is no other than music and dance.

"As we all went through the phase of 'New Jack Swing' dance moves popular in the 1980s, I thought it would be interesting if the styling of this season's Ralph Lauren Purple Label goes with this 'scent,' making best use of the silhouettes and strong colours. As the ambassador, my muted outfit differs from the others, yet the charm is that it can bring out playfulness eh."

For AKIRA, he is an artiste who personally has roots in the influence of New Jack Swing, he too is in EXILE which is the former [J Soul Brothers] named by Bobby Brown. The styling of that day, Bobby Brown, checked.

"An exquisite brown plaid suit matching with a simple white turtleneck. 'That's 80s,' as I played with the colours. Wearing this jacket and suit that is representative of the Purple Label, between feeling nature and tense, with a touch of nervousness, I get to be a stable grown man. This, is a flavour unique to this brand."

Elevating to a Suit fit for Royals, Pink Turtleneck

The night before the group's first Best Album [EXILE THE SECOND THE BEST] (released on 22 Feburary) was dropped, all 6 of EXILE THE SECOND gathered in the city, cladded formally in Ralph Lauren Purple Label's 2020 Spring - Summer collection. Talking of their "roots," all have immersed themselves in the cozy groove of New Jack Swing which was the rage in the 1980s - 1990s.

"The trail of our activities and history, our group's world view and thinking, are put into an easily understood 'EXILE THE SECOND manual,' and this completes as an album. As I also took part in music composing, my own roots too became a base and condensation for the group's music."

Narrating the above, the multifaceted EXILE SHOKICHI has various roles as a vocalist, performer, song writer and etc. With his overwhelming vocal power and years at the EXPG dance school training as a performer, Shokichi made his way into J Soul Brothers 2nd Generation.

"My personal roots started in high school year 2, I formed a rock band with my friends. As I admired X JAPAN's hide, I started playing the guitar and singing. From then, I also started dancing and I want to always continue singing." 

The matching inner top with formal black suit is a turtleneck sweater of fine cashmere coloured in a gorgeous, conspicuous Bougainvillea pink.

"Although I often wear suits, this colour is really great eh. I also like this vintage eyewear with this attire."
