*THEORY BRIEF*
As well as a boring written interview, I wanted to create a few illustrated interview boards, 2 for each artist. Although they were hard to arrange at first I really like how they turned out and think they are interesting to look at.

This is the story board I have created so far for my studio project. Seeing all the illustrations together helps me to visualise the story and I am excited to do more.

*LIVE BRIEF*
After some advice from my tutor, I added some feathers as detail on the back as well as using rulers to line everything up so it is more professional. I added the blurb which was provided for us and the authors name and it was all finished.

I did the same with my studio project and I really like how it looks.

*LIVE BRIEF*
After picking my favourite font I placed it on to the book spread which helped me see it coming together.

This shows more experimentation with font on the front cover of my studio work . This project was trickier to pick a font style for as the theme of the book is not quite as obvious.

*LIVE BRIEF*
This shows the next stage of my investigation when I put each font with the cover so I could see how it fit and sat next to the image.

*LIVE BRIEF*
I used the same method on my live brief as on my studio project and created some thumbnails and text experiments. I looked at different font styles than I did with my other project to try and fit the theme and style of the book.

As suggested to me I created some thumbnails of possible cover layouts for my book. I also had a go at illustrating different types of typography. Typography really isn't my thing so I found this challenging.
I decided on the name switch because it is short and memorable. It also focus on what the whole book is about- the switch. As well as this, it could also be referring to the physical switch which the character go through in the book.

After scanning my design in I started to add colour and finalise my front cover design. The next step will be to think about typography and names for my story which capture the plot well.

Now I have created all my characters to a level I am happy with I wanted to start thinking more about the plot of my children's book. I created a very basic story board to just help me visualise the pages. As well as this I created a book cover which I really like.

*LIVE BRIEF*
Carrying on with my book cover for the live brief, I picked this illustration as my favourite design after taking into consideration the opinions of my family and friends.
I wanted to create a more finished version so started with block colours. I slowly added layers of hading on Photoshop until I got to a stage I was happy with.
I really like how it looks and think it fits with the vibe of the book and the bright colours should entice children to pick it up and read. I am still working on what to put in the background as I don't want to over do the design.

*LIVE BRIEF*
For the live brief I chose to create the children's book cover for the book ‘Talking Turkeys’ by Benjamin Zephaniah. This fits really well with what im interested in and what I was considering to get into as a job. However, It is a lot harder than I expected to come up with good ideas and I am still working on it. Here are a few of my first thoughts.

While I was drawing my characters I realised I was having trouble with body positions which were unusual or more complicated. I wanted to get some practice so I just copied a few I pulled from the internet as practice.

Finally I experimented with my realistic style which was challenging as I realised I usually draw people with the same expressions.

Again the anime style was the most challenging for me so I used a lot of Pinterest when trying different expressions. I noticed the expression mostly came from the eyes so to save time I drew a few eyes on their own for practice and I think this really helped. I was shocked at how may different styles of illustration fall under anime.

I wanted to create some character sheets to experiment with expressions and how the different styles would look. I love how these look and really enjoyed experimenting and changing the eyes depending on the emotion I was trying to show.
