nah, i’m not even gonna say it. it’s a lie, i’m still bad at notifying the internet when i am doing anything (except baseball. i will always notify you when baseball is happening).

no way, november

yup. it’s happening - it’s midway through november, and yes, yes i did teach my first christmas song yesterday. (it was ‘deck the halls’, thanks for asking.) how are ya, internet? it’s been a while! baseball season is over, and the preds lost to the leafs last night, so there’s essentially a raincloud hovering over my head, but life goes on. got some dates for ya, and a cool video! 

here’s the video: it’s the ryan maguire band! playing ‘pretty girl’ and attempting to look and sound thoroughly endearing. you’ll have to let me know if we succeeded.

august is a heartbreaker

so they say, anyway! hard to believe september starts TOMORROW, but there ya have it. i’ll be back to work fulltime, but baseball will continue until post-season/banquet in october. (we play every week, thursday and sunday. please join if you like baseball, fun, high fives and wonderful people!)

which means the next month might be a littttttttttle on the cray-cray side, but heck! there’s always time for a few gigs. here’s some that are comin’ down the pipeline...

first of all - SORRY, i have been listening to the killers lately and i was like what a brilliant blog entry title for a website i never maintain. cynicism aside, a whole bunch of cool stuff happened lately. in case you have managed to escape it/me in the last 6 months, i put out an album.

fifth (YES JUST LOOK AT HOW WELL I CAN COUNT!), erika werry is hard at work on a new EP. it’s going to be reallllllllly cool. more on that later. also, i am sort of hard at work at a new full-length titled (you guessed it!) ‘feelings, etc.’ will be showcasing some of those new tunes on december 12th at midnight (folly brewpub)! 12:00/12/12 2015, people. that’s gotta be a sign! if you feel like staying out late, rob mclaren, curtis murphy and i (plus super special guest singer emily bird) will see you there. i might play a christmas song.

you must believe in spring

and i do, really. i mean, yeah, it is only 2 degrees outside, but i have that funny feeling in the pit of my stomach that something is changing, and i hope it’s just the seasons! i struggle with change, to put it lightly. BUT HOW ABOUT THIS - june 14, ladies and gentlemen. that’s when my album comes out. it’s been 3 years in the making, countless song titles have been shuffled around, and my patience was worn to shreds on multiple occasions but i can finally tell you that on JUNE 14 at 7:30 pm in toronto ON, you can come hang out at Royal York Road United church with myself and a really happening band of old friends and new and we’re gonna release this thing into the wild.

to sum up - debut album North/East/South/West being released on june 14th, 2015.

well THAT was fun!

what a summer it has been, folks! i barely know what to do with myself now, but fortunately september is filling up quite nicely. i get to go back to teaching and working with the wonderful folks at royal house of music... www.royalhouseofmusic.com - check it out! they have a fantastic program that is incredibly student-based and a little bird told me that I still have one opening on monday and tuesday, so, if you or anyone you know wants to learn a new instrument or resurrect an old one... let us know! 

i will also be starting a new adventure this year singing at royal york road united... and directing their junior choir. although i have problems with choir gowns (they just NEVER look good on me), i am pretty excited to work with a new group of kids, AND a new group of adults too! hopefully my sight reading still exists! :) 

here comes the sappy part - i have to take a second to thank everyone who made this summer the life-affirming one it was. between rodeos and islands, coffeehouses and main stages, i got to spend all of august just playing music and doing what i love. so - thank you to stefan, dave, mike, dan, ty, brian, chris, matty p, shae, ann, cadence, stacy, carlos, mark, will, rich, erika, mike, wes and ANYONE else that i got to share a stage with, big or small. also to curt for his never-ending patience and to lloyd, gwen, rachael, faye, and chad for being there at the start and the end of the summer to deal with my nervous excitement and endless stories. i love you all! 

right now, i am back to reality with a broken apostrophe key and a sink full of dishes, so i guess i better wrap it up real quick! still got a couple of fun ones coming up this year, and YES my album is still in process. i actually cannot wait for things to slow down just a little so i can finish it up and get to share it with you.
