A master list for new puppy/dog owners.
Since I often find myself linking the same things for common problems with new puppy or dog owners, I figured I’d make a master list of kikopup videos that I link to.  I will probably add onto this as I remember things I may have missed, but this is it for now.
Note that these are not tricks, this is mostly dealing with behaviors.  I will be making a master list for tricks, too.

They played a lot with his former family member. They spent around 50 minutes of the hour we were there together and played till the last minute. (I know they shouldn't play with their leashes on. We were leaving and walked past each other, but it was enough for them.)

If you reward him when he's looking at you when he doesn't have to you'll find he'll start looking at you more often as habit :) then better chances to reward him looking when he has to, too!
Thank you :)He always looks at me when we're at home, it's just hard to catch his eyes when we are outside. I do try to reward him though. Right now we usually stop when he gets too distracted during our walks and wait till he looks at me for a few seconds. Then reward and we go on. It is getting easier to work with him, it's just a slow process. :)And thank you again, you are really sweet!

Everything else was a complete disaster though. Kajla spent maybe 2 seconds looking at me and that was when he didn't have to. (See the first picture.) He ignored me the rest of the time and couldn't have cared less about anything that was going on.

Tell me about caucasian mountain dogs
An old man lived on a farm with his only son, who guarded the pastures and the herds and cared for his ailing parent. One day a cruel blow was dealt, when the young man was taken by a bear, and eaten bones and all.
The old man had a terrible grief and no fear of death, and went to confront the bear with a club and a fire. The bear roared and thundered, but a father’s grief is as powerful as a mountain storm, and the bear was subdued. Before the old man could strike the fatal blow, the bear knelt and begged for pardon.
“Spare me,” said the bear, “and I will give you one of my own cubs, as fair payment for the cub I have robbed from you.”
The old man agreed, and carried a cub down the mountain and put a collar round its neck and raised it with the dogs. The bear grew strong, but doglike work had given it a doglike form, and fiercely had it taken up the work given to it.
The bears cubs today still wear their collars, still guard the cabins and bellow their awful thundering roars at the wilderness they can’t return to. An iron heart beats in the bear cub, but he remains a friend of man, never forgetting his bargain.

We didn’t have any problems with the other dogs, but Kajla was pretty antisocial (you can see three pics of the one minute he spent with the other dogs)

Another big surprise for me was that we were greeted by the teacher who took him in and her dog. I informed her about Kajla’s every move and she thought it’d be nice to surprise us so she asked the trainer if she and her dog could come too. It took Kajla around 15 minutes to notice that he knew the other dog but luckily for me, they spent the rest of the lesson together. And I said luckily for me, because if they weren’t there, I wouldn’t have been able to catch Kajla. We were asked to remove the leashes and call our dogs but Kajla ignored me several times and I only caught him because he ran past me when he was chasing the other dog around and I grabbed his collar.
(that puppy kept following them around, she was really sweet)

I was afraid Kajla’s first move would be attacking the other dogs because I had a few bad experiences with the dog who lived with us before Kajla, but he was pretty nice. He didn’t start anything at first, he moved away from the group and didn’t attack the smaller dogs either (he chases cats and ate one of our chickens), so I was very happy and proud. That lasted till he and the other dog you can see above met. They are approximately the same size and they attacked each other around two seconds after they noticed there was another big boy in the area. I was shocked but luckily for all of us, the trainer handled the situation well. They attacked each other three times at the beginning of the lesson but avoided each other after that.

I’m sorry it took me this long, I got sick and had no energy at all. So I wrote about our first walk the last time and I’d like to give you some background before we move on. We live in a small village in Hungary. Hungary is not known for its love of animals or for treating them right and there’s a reason for that. There are tons of cats and dogs that don’t get their vaccines and chips (even though there are laws in place about them) and neutering any kind of animal is rare. Dogs are generally kept on short chains in the villages and mostly eat leftovers. It took me about two years to make sure our dogs could eat something better than the cheapest dog food available, and even now, the best I can get my dogs is just a little over 2 pounds for a kilo. That’s because I don’t earn money yet and my mother grew up seeing bad conditions being treated as if they were normal. I’m changing her perspective slowly. Very slowly. So it took Kajla jumping on us and biting us to even consider going to a dog trainer. The teacher who originally took in Kajla told a trainer about him and she offered us a 50% discount if we took him to her school. So we did. We took him to the one and only dog kindergarten we ever attended.

Sadly, it was also the first time the problems came up. He started pulling on the leash, and at the end of the walk, I couldn't call him back. The only reason I caught him was the other dog. She ran after Kajla and when they started playing, I called her back. Kajla chased her and I caught them when they reached me. (but like look at that face. come on. striped doggo. the best striped doggo you have ever seen)

And I took two of my favourite dog pictures that day, when I called for both of them and they came together. It was a wonderful moment, because I never got to experience anything like this with the dog I had before Kajla.

I even tried our basic commands and even though I thought they wouldn’t work in that environment, they did!!!
