Prologue

To say that the League was a mess was an understatement. The biggest superhero organization, sworn to protect the earth from evil, not only didn’t know about the threat that plagued Paris for the last four years, but when everything actually when to hell, they were kept out of it.

It all apparently started four years ago, when a civilian was transformed in a supervillain because he lost control of his emotions, but he was only one of hundreds of others that went thru that, the actual villain was a man named Hawkmoth. He could turn people in to supervillains by giving them powers and controlling them thru their erratic emotions, and he wanted the magical jewelries carried by Paris’ heroes to make a cosmic wish, that no one knew what it was.

The whole situation was incurably unbelievable. From teenagers superheroes to absurd amounts of damage done to Paris, and everything being fixed in the end as if nothing ever happened. And all that only got the League’s attention when an event, which is being called “The modern siege of Paris”, happened.

No one knows what really went down during the weeks that Paris died, but it happened. Two month ago someone was akumatized, normal occurrence for the city of lights, but the heroes never came. Ladybug and Chat Noir the heroes of Paris, with the powers of creation and destruction respectively, never arrive to deal with the villain. The boy wasn’t showing up in the attacks for some time now, but the Ladybug along with some other heroes that appeared now and again always fought the villains and cure the damage that has been done. But not this time.

This particular akuma cause such an amount of damage, that it leveled Paris. The akuma appeared to be a human figure glowing with blinding white light, it wandered the streets of Paris and everything that was touched by the light crumble to the ground. It didn’t attack, it just walked like it couldn’t hear the screams and see the world disintegrated around it.

When the first day had passed with no signs of the heroes, the League was notified. After the initial shock of knowing what was happening they took action, the city was evacuated and barricaded, surveillance drones were put in place to monitor the akuma. They took statements of what was going on, and then questioned the mayor for why he had not informed the League when the problem started, he was shone to be incredibly incompetent and to have no regard for his people’s safety as he said that the heroes always dealt with it and he didn’t wanted to loose tourists, he would be demoted of his position if Paris was ever back to normal. Then, someone found a video sent to the League four years ago, it was from Paris’ heroes requesting aid, they looked no older than twelve, and the video had been ignored all this time.

From the information revealed by the video they decided that no hero was allowed to go in, an akuma’s powers were unlimited, inconsistent and unheard of, and the only thing that could stop it was the ladybug miraculous. The League realized they didn’t know how to deal with that nor did they have the means to. They tested the destruction power of the light, to see if that was something they could do, it seems to destroy every type of matter that came across. In the end they were only able to hold the siege and hope for the best.

A week after the siege started Hawkmoth came out of hiding, he appeared from an underground facility with the shining outline of a purple butterfly on his face, apparently trying to talk with the akuma, always being careful to never step close to its light. When that clearly failed he went back to his lair. In the same day Wonder Women came to join the siege and show some insight, her mother Hippolyta had long ago been a Ladybug, so Diana explained what she know of the miraculous, about what they were, it’s keepers and the people that long ago guard it, the information was useful but to no avail, the Miraculi Order was dead and the only miraculous thought to still exist were currently missing along with its Guardian.

Another week went by and Paris look like a war zone devoid of people, empty streets with building half crumbled to the ground, only dust and grayness roam the air, they predicted that was no one left alive in Paris.

With that Hawkmoth appeared again, the look of defeat adorned his face as he stood in front of the akuma, just out of the light’s reach. Words were said for no one to hear as he kneeled to the ground and call out the akuma. As the purple butterfly was pulled out from the victim’s body and Ladybug stood in the ominous light’s place, the confuse expression on her face did not last long as she reached to catch the butterfly in her hands. Immediately after, a swarm of ladybugs flooded the city, making impossible to see what was happening, and when everything settled and the damage was reversed Gabriel Agreste was on Hawkmoth’s place with Ladybug nowhere to be seen.
