a-force-of-alice‌:
As soon as Alice heard about what happen she found herself at the Ministry. Sleep would come later, for now she had to focus on the chaos at hand. Dark circles under eyes were forming under her eyes and any traces of make up were long gone. She was tired and it was starting to show but she needed to press on. Alice heaved a sigh as she rubbed her temples. His question was one she couldn’t answer and in a way she was feeling guilty for that. But their was nothing she could do about it now. “No. I wasn’t anywhere near there. Frank and I had the night off, there was no indication somethin’ like this was gonna ‘appen, no whispers, nothin’. I mean Moody is always yellin’ constant vigilance but even with that vigilance I just…” Alice huffed, her hands squeezed into fists for a moment. Merlin it was moments like this when she felt like she wasn’t the right person for the job, when she had such doubts about her role in the Order but she sucked it up. She wrote down what Kingsley said, “On his own…” She repeated mumbling. “His followers are loyal, fuckin’ weird trait they’ve all got. Their devotion tae him, it’s fuckin’ uncanny.” Looking up Alice stared at Kingsley. “I was readin’ some muggle cases and their was a cult, right, and they found the one person who felt that shred of doubt, well not found, they came to them because their leader did something reckless like this.” Alice used magic to stack of coffee cups and then looked at Kingsley. “Because of that one person, the cult, when the raid happened began to lose trust in their leader. We know we aren’t gonna get the top ones, we know we ain’t gonna get the middle one. They will not budge. But someone on the bottom, if we can break them down.  One…” she moved one cup, “by one.” she moved another cup and the stack fell down. “We need someone who haven’t been all that important, who’s crimes we can won’t feel bad for brushing aside if they give us somethin’” Looking back at the cups she crushed them “and then we can destroy the rest of them.” alice’s mercy was just as chaotic as her personal tempest.
Tumblr media
Kingsley snorted at the confirmation, “They’ve been bred and trained to be nothing but loyal followers. You’ve heard the stories of the Knights of Walpurgis just as I have. This started with their parents and He wants it to end with him and their children.” The disdain for Voldemort was clear in the way that Alice and Kingsley spoke between one another, surely between the two of them they could come up with a plan. They would have to get Alastor on board but that was easier than most thought it was--especially with Kingsley and Alice staring him down.
“We know the list that we have put together of who we think could be a Death Eater. The Lestranges’, the Blacks’, The Carrows’.” Suspicion only got them so far without proof and they could make lists as long as the wanted but without concrete proof, they could never act on any of their suspects. “But what about the kids? Lestrange’s brother, Rabastan? Bellatrix’s kid sister, Narcissa? They’re young and I imagine we pull at them enough and they might spill their guts. Even if they’re not in on the inside themselves.” Granted, everything he said wasn’t solid but he knew that Alice would see where he was going with this.
“We just need a reason to bring them in and question them.” Kingsley stood from where he stood moving towards the filing cabinets to flick through until he found one of the things he was looking for, handing it off to Alice. “Narcissa Black’s aunt was found dead months back, I don’t know if she was ever brought in for questioning but if not, we can now and if she was we can just ensure her story is still intact? The inspecting officer always thought something was funny with that death but could never prove it.” He offered before moving back for the next file that he was looking for and pulling out what little information they had on Rabastan Lestrange.
“As for Rabastan he’s a Diplomat over at the  International Confederation of Wizards... We could see if he’d mind giving us a hand with this whole mess from Halloween?” A brow raising in question knowing that it wasn’t out of the question for the Ministry to reach out to see how they could keep themselves looking attractive when it comes to their opposites in different locations.

He’d been meaning to make his way to the Weasley house anyway, it was long overdue that he stop in and check on his favorite family but even more so he wanted to make sure they hadn’t been at Hogwarts when everything had happened. Kingsley could remember seeing them with the boys throughout the night, the kids in costume playing the games and getting candy. He was hopeful that the band playing at midnight had been the saving grace--the boys likely had to be in bed but still, he needed to check-in to ask.
A light knocking on the door as he heard the noise inside, stepping back so that the door could swing open and he could look at Molly properly. “I hope you don’t mind me dropping in unannounced but I could use some of those cookies you make after the long day I’ve had.” He laughed, knowing that the exhaustion was on his face, and even if it hadn’t been Molly would know just how overworked he was. She always did.

sybilltrxl‌:
She could do this, she dealt with disaster all the timeNormally from behind a desk, but still. She was sure her organizational skills could come in just as handy here. Wars took lots of organizing, right? Because that was where they were at now. If the Ministry was gone that was all that was left. She had to join The Order. Time was up, if she was going to help it had to be now, before they were all too battered to have any hope she’d bring anything useful to the table.
This was not the time to let her thoughts spiral that far ahead though. She pushed through the crowds to tug a table cloth off, trying not to think about the years she’d spent sat in this room having dinner and hoping her nightmares never came true, struggling back through the panicked throng to hand the material over to Kingsley, taking one last look at Millicent’s face before it was obscured.
Reporters. Rita. True now with her job dissolved she didn’t have any real pull over the woman, but they were friends- she could ask her to try and minimize the horrific stories that would surely spill out from tonight. At the very least discourage folk from including photographs. Millie deserved a little more dignity than that.
She’s startled a little by Kingsley’s touch, already looking around the room for a good vantage point, and though his words aren’t a shock she does inwardly resent them a little bit. He doesn’t think she can cope with this, and in the end that kind of thing will be a huge barrier to her joining the team. She’s seen worse than this. Sybill squares her shoulders and looks at him, “You handle the Patronus. I’ll start clearing the room and see if I can spot Rita to have a word with her.”
Crying and panicking is for later. Voldemort has already left the scene, he put on his grand display and fucked off so there’s really no need for it right now. Sybill pats Kingsley’s hand and then she’s off again, clambering up onto the high table at the front of the room- thank god she’s wearing sensible shoes. From up high she spots Rita with a gaggle of reporters on the edge of the crowd, but before dealing with her she puts her wand to her throat and mutters “sonorus.” to amplify her voice over the crowd.
After a sharp whistle to garner attention she speaks, “everyone except Aurors out now. Shows over.” Of course, there are other high level ministry members but Sybill knows some of them can’t be trusted, and all the aurors are order members too so it works out. Before Rita can make her escape Sybill grabs her to talk briefly- well, talk. Sybill tells her to make sure the reports on this incident are kept to a minimum then gives her a nudge into the crowd so she has no real choice other than to be swept away with everyone else trying to get out.
Her hands are shaking a little but by the time she returns to Kingsley she’s shoved them in her pockets. “Do you recall anyone working late today? I’m pretty sure everyone left after lunch, but there’s a chance death eaters will go straight to the building so-” Oh god. Her files. At least she’d had the sense to protect them heavily, but getting access to them would a hell of a struggle. “So… I don’t even know what, honestly. Hopefully if they went no one was in there. Do you know if anyone on your team left important stuff lying around that they were planning on dealing with tomorrow?”
Despite her reassurances, Kingsley still had his reservations. It wasn’t as though Sybill was trained to the extent that he had been which included keeping his emotions under wrap. It didn’t help that she had worked for Millicent and was likely the closest to her of everyone in the building. He wouldn’t have blamed her for wanting to get the hell out of here but as she moved away from the offer he moved his focus off of her and focused on the task at hand. If she was staying she must have trusted herself to have enough control over her emotions to not let them get to her. Who was he to doubt her abilities?
The first Patronus went to the Auror’s letting them know that their help was needed in The Great Hall for not only investigation but crowd control. Too many people were still trying to get out of one exit and they needed people directing them to ensure that no one was lingering for too long.
Moving from his position as his messages were sent off he moved to look at Sybill hearing the words that were being said he rose a finger to her. “Let me send a message to a couple people I trust and see if I can’t get them to do a sweep of the Ministry and make sure there’s nothing there. If you have something that needs to be protected I suggest you send someone you trust quickly.”
Stepping away from Sybill the second Lynx Patronus that sprung from the tip of his wand was sent to Order Members, letting them all know that this was an all hands on deck situation. People needed to be prepared for anything that might come their way and that meant getting to the Ministry to defend the doors of their workplace. Death Eaters would likely be coming and if anyone saw Voldemort the most important thing was to not engage but to call for himself, Alice and Alastor with the location.
Moving back to Sybill he let out a sigh, a hand running down his face as she processed for a moment and eyes landed back on the sheet covering the body. “Did she have any family that we need to contact? The last thing we need is them to hear about this from the news.” Hus head-shaking knowing that she had spoken to Skeeter but that would likely only deter the woman for so long.
Of all the things that he had played through in his mind going wrong this was the furthest from his mind. Never had he envisioned such a brutal and public murder -- but even more so he hadn’t seen Voldemort making a grand appearance. He had been getting his followers to do his dirty work up until this point but now it seemed that he was willing to take matters into his own hands for some reason. What had changed?

While some had decided to not come into work after the fiasco after Halloween it was Kingsley who hadn’t left the Ministry since. A cup of coffee in his hands at all time and the look on his face made it clear that being up for forty-eight hours straight didn’t agree with him. But he hadn’t a choice. With some of the Aurors out on cases controlling the mass hysteria, someone had to be in the office sending off the next mission to the next available person. He could have found someone less valuable to sit but the truth was he was watching the reports for any signs of Voldemort, guaranteeing that he was able to handpick the people who went with him to that mission. Eyes moved from the reports to Alice as she spoke nodding his head knowing that not only did they need to do something as Aurors but as Order members as well. “You didn’t see the faces around the great hall...” Kingsley murmured. “Everyone looked genuinely surprised. If I was a betting man I would say that Voldemort decided to do this on his own without telling any of the followers.” His head shook as he leaned forward to lower his voice. “If we can find one person with just a shred of doubt and plant a seed we might be able to find out where he and his people are meeting. We can raid them.”
Tumblr media
Throwing down her pen and placing her head on the desk the auror heaved a heavy sigh. “Fuckin’ hell.” She mumbled. It was chaos, utter chaos and Alice felt as if she was loosing her mind. Looking up at Kingsley and shook her head. “People call me fuckin’ insane, all my life, destructive and anythin’ else that goes along with that. And sure I’ve gotten into fights and run head first in shit but the Death Eaters, that’s fuckin’ insane. And there are days, days when I see innocent people hurt and all I want tae do is fight fire with fire and i want to burn them, watch them suffer. But that does make me fuckin’ insane. I’m runnin’ out of ideas. That Halloween shit, nightmare.” Alice ran a hand through messy waves and blew out air. “Right then,” She twirled her pen around her fingers. “I wanna hit them hard and I wanna hit them fast. i want them to have to regroup, I want them to be terrified.” Alice looked at Kingsley with no mercy written on her expression. She was frustrated. She became an Auror to protect people, she joined the Order because she needed to be outside of the law to protect others. From the time she was a child to know, she needed to protect, needed to fight people and currently she felt as if she was doing a shit job. She was such a storm and fine storms wreaked havoc and if that what it took, well maybe it was time to do just that. Green eyes were focused on her coworker, unwavering and unrelenting.

With the flick of a switch the last remnants of normalcy that Sybill had been clinging to were gone.
Her boss was dead. The Ministry was over. Kids were screaming. For a moment she felt nothing. Just stood, dumbstruck, watching Bagnold’s fingers twitch until they stopped. There was a strange ringing in her ears, which was probably not really there at all and just her brain trying to shut out this horror by replacing it with something less visceral.
How many hours of her life had she spent chatting with this woman? How many late nights in the office? The shuffling of schedules over tea? She was the first person to ever make Sybill feel useful.
“Oh my god.” It was said without thought, just– terror and disbelief slipping through the cracks. Perhaps because her body had moved- motioned forward by Kingsley- so everything else started working again too, fog clearing.
Get the body down. “Millicent.” She said, because it somehow felt crueler to not use her name, and she didn’t know what else to say.
“How do we-” Her voice wavered, the first panicked sob trying to work its way out, but she pushed it back down and took a deep breath. Sybill could do composed, she did it all the time, she spent her entire life acting like she felt better than she did. “What do you need me to do?”
Of course, he knew what the Minister’s name was but that didn’t mean he wanted to use it. Kingsley was already distancing himself from the situation and putting up the wall that kept him from feeling anything. Now wasn’t the time for emotions someone had to take control and given that he was the closest Auror that meant it had to be him. Then again as the head of the department even if he hadn’t been in the vicinity it would have all fell on his shoulders at some point. Better to be here now than later.
”Yes, Millicent. We need to get her body down to stop the show.” It was a cruel choice of words but there was no other way to say it in the heat of the moment. Voldemort had wanted to put on a show and he had succeeded.   If he was being honest the last person in the room he would have picked to help him was Sybill Trelawney. Despite her best attempts, he could see the emotion that as clawing its way out of her facial expressions. “You don’t have to do anything.” He assured her but despite the kind words that he was offering his head was nodding in the direction of the nearest table. “Get a table cloth.” Kingsley ordered hoping that having something to do would put Trelawney back on a more stable footing.
The sounds of the room around him fell into the background as Kingsley focused on the task at hand. Removing his wand from it’s pocketing he was quick with his words, catching the body as it fell as to prevent even more of a show, carefully placing the Minister down before he moved to place his fingers to the side of her neck despite knowing better.  No pulse.
“She’s gone.” He murmured as he moved to look behind him and take the table cloth from Sybill and drape it over the body. “We’re not going to be able to get her out until the crowd clears.” He was going to need all hands on deck to make that happen. “We need to get Patronus out before the reporters get their articles out. Take control of what little narrative we have.”
Idle words that were likely falling on deaf ears. These were all things that he was sure the Assistant already knew. A hand came out to grasp the arm of the breathing woman, “If you need to go, you can.” He repeated as if to make sure that she understood she didn’t need to be here for this.

Kingsley was one of the first to arrive to Hogsemede, his clothing the normal that he wore but a bit more relaxed, if possible. A pair of slacks paired with a shirt and jacket as he wasn’t here to have a good time but to keep an eye on things going on. Children and innocent people were going to be present and that meant everything needed to go well. It was the sight of a familiar person that caused him to move a little faster spotting Amelia easily given the lack of people on the streets. “Now, why do I have a feeling you’re not here for patrolling.” His words were spoken in fun given that he wasn’t one to deny that all of the people wanting one deserved a break tonight.

WHERE: Great Hall of Hogwarts WHO: Kingsley & Open
He was paralyzed, like most around him, but not out of fear like everyone but instead, Kingsley was racked with rage. Every fiber in his being wanted answers, he needed to know how in the hell the most wanted wizard in the world waltzed in under everyone’s noses undetected? How did he not notice someone inching towards the Minister?! Everyone in the room was clearly dumbfounded just as he, watching the body and in an instant he was coming to, realizing that he needed to move forward and do something. There were children present.
Moving forward he noticed the nearest person to him as he motioned for them to come forward towards him. “We need to get the body down, quickly.” This wasn’t something that needed to be put on display and he had no doubt that Skeeter with every other fucking reporter in the building who lacked decency was snapping pictures on their phone.

For the most part, Amelia felt more comfortable calling the shots. She had a knack for taking the lead, and frankly, she was more comfortable being in control than following someone else’s. There were a few people that she was happy to take charge though, and they were the people she trusted the most. Amelia had been watching their backs as they moved towards the house and she hadn’t felt the need to watch what was happening in front of her. She kept her footsteps light as she followed close to his own steps, knowing that there could be traps around, even if they were unlikely. “Okay,” she answered easily.
If he ran, it would likely be out the back anyways, so they could head him off. Amelia knew that most people didn’t focus as much on their back entrances anyways; a false sense of security as it faced their own yard. Nodding her head, though she had a good feeling he didn’t see it, she followed his direction. She ducked down so that she was undetected by their suspect. Amelia scrunched her nose as they headed towards the back, “Ah hell, are we climbing over a fence?” she asked, knowing they very well could but very much wouldn’t like to.
Tumblr media
There was no need for Kingsley to look behind him not only because he knew that there was no chance of someone sneaking up on him with Amelia back there but also because he was more than aware she could handle herself. If someone was foolish enough to try and mess with the Auror then he pitied them for the beating they were going to receive. At the question, he let out a snort, unable to hold back the recation as he nodded his head, “Looks like we are climbing a fence. Are you going to be able to handle that Mel or should I give you a lift first?” His words were spoken low and in good fun but he knew that if she needed it he would offer the help with no hesitation.
As they made it over the fence he was quiet watching his steps, ensuring that there were no surprises until they were yards from the back door. “Are we going in all-out or with a sneak attack?” Kingsley questioned, turning his head back to see what Amelia was most comfortable with.

Kingsley didn’t make it a point to spend his evenings in bars, much less in ones that he felt like he needed to scrub the glass before he drank out of it. But when it came to work he didn’t get to choose where he spent his evening. He’d been comfortably seated in a chair with a glass of firewhiskey in his hand, without a sip missing from it, when he heard the voice of the table in front of him speak. Eyes moving from where he’d been watching he noted the publishing held, “Ah, I can’t say I make a habit of reading Witch Weekly, sorry.”
Tumblr media
Settling himself into a cushy chair, Dolohov’s eyes meanacingly followed a muggleborn girl as he waited for his drink to arrive to his table. He couldn’t tell if he was attracted to her or disgusted by her, or both; however, there was no denying that she was a particularly pretty girl with flowing golden hair and a smattering of freckles across her face. Shame, he thought to himself, throwing a nod of acknowledgement in the direction of the bar man as he brought his firewhiskey to his table. He glanced at the girl one last time before opening up a newspaper and aimlessly scanning through each article. Finally, a story caught his eye and a sinister smile creeped up on to his face, an excitement  dancing in his stomach; a genuine happiness that could only have been brought on by such an event: A breakout from Azkaban. He took a sip of his whiskey, the smile still playing on his lips; he looked up, eye’s deliberately connecting with the person in front of him, “Have you seen the news?”.

Most of the people within their department were skilled, she couldn’t deny that. They wouldn’t have made it through to the position if they weren’t. However, there were some of them that had either been there long enough that they’d gained a deeper insight, or had incredibly strong instincts. Factor in that some of them worked better due to chemistry, or their shared work in the Order, and some teams just worked more efficiently than others. Despite their cases never being as straightforward as they’d like them to be, they certainly went faster when she was working with someone she could trust without question. Her and Kingsley were able to operate with minimal dialogue at this point in their career, which made them a particularly strong duo.
Landing at the expected address, Amelia immediately scanned the area for any immediate threats. Everything was fairly quite, but the house didn’t look abandoned. There was a good chance their perp was in there, and Amelia was hoping that he wasn’t stupid enough to try to fight his way out. Hearing Kingsley’s remark, she gave a quiet, huffed laugh. “Let’s hope he isn’t dumb enough to try to fight back” she answered lowly, unable to keep the amusement from her tone. Letting him take the lead, she covered their backs, and kept her eyes open for any potential traps that could go off. She didn’t think their guy was smart enough to plan for them, but there was no sense letting her guard down.
Tumblr media
Kingsley didn’t have an issue when it came to letting someone else take the lead but it was also clear as he moved forward that there was no hesitation in his decision to lead. There was something about being in control that spoke to him more deeply than taking orders from someone. It helped that he knew Amelia wouldn’t feel any harm from being the one watching their backs especially given that Kingsley hadn’t looked behind him once as he might have with another Auror. There was no question that Amelia was capable of ensuring that he didn’t have anything surprising him as his feet were moving forward, careful to watch his steps and keep as quiet as he could.
“We’re going in the back of the house.” He decided, knowing that if the fool was going to set any traps it would be at the front where most people would start. “Keep low, there’s quite a number of windows.” His own motions going low as to keep from being seen by someone who might have been looking at the window in a paranoid sense.

There was something to be said about those who chose to suffer in silence. Bearing a weight they could not imagine they would have ever had to. Carrying around the burden because what good was it giving it away- especially when all of their shoulders already sagged under boulders much too big to carry. Stuck in the middle of a gunfight and all they’d brought were paper shields. He swallowed roughly at the observation given. There was a reason Kingsley was in the position he was- he’d always been able to read between even the tightest lines, and loosen the tightest lips.
Tumblr media
“Fine,” he mirrored, shrugging weakly. He opened his mouth to reply but was cut off when Kings continued to flay open the locks he’d kept on his lips. But he did- he had done just that. Let the world numb him and had chosen time and time again to replace the rose colored glasses that fate kept ripping off. He thought perhaps if he could smile at these injured patients- these grieving families- offer hope for a better world he might fool himself into believing it. And he had. Completely and utterly turned himself into a jester in his own court. “I’m not going to see a shrink, Kings.”
There was a scoff at the words that Caradoc spoke, clearly making it sure that he was insulted that the man would suggest he was saying such a thing. “Tell me, Dearborn, what about me gives you the idea that I would sit and pour my heart out to someone who’s going to charge me a week’s worth of my salary?” Kingsley’s head shook as he spoke the words his hand waving knowing that it had come out worse than how he had intended. “That works for some people and I’m glad for them. Truly. But it doesn’t work for people like me and people like you.” That was not to get it twisted that Kingsley believed them to be anywhere near the same person but more so that they were more alike than either would care to admit.
Tumblr media
“But what I am saying is you need to talk to someone about what you’re feeling. I don’t care who it is--be it Sybill, myself or anyone that you’re confident enough in to speak to.” There was a shift in his steps so that he was looking Caradoc dead-on. “You’re not going to feel any better about any of this until you start talking about what you’re feeling. And it might not feel any better at first but once you get to the root of what you’re feeling then just maybe you can get your arse back into Mungo’s where you’re needed.” Eyes moved around the sight around them in a trained motion that showed the Auror was used to watching his back. “And just to make it clear I do mean that--you’re needed over there.”

Work was never piled up, per se but it always seemed as though the pile Kingsley was working on was neverending. Granted, he’d known this when he’d decided to take the Head Auror position--despite the laughing from Alastor who’d known exactly what Kingsley had gotten himself into. He’d been scribbling furiously when he’d heard the knock, head moving up expecting to see a coworker with a question or something along the lines but quickly as he recognized the flash of red a smile crossed his face.
“Please, come on in, you know that you’re always welcome especially if you’re carrying that basket.” Standing as he spoke, gesturing to the seat for her to take, it was only once Molly was seated that Kingsley took his chair once more. “It’s nice to see you--and alone at that. You got some mom time today, I see?”
Tumblr media
Molly moved through the halls of the ministry, easily finding her way to the different offices that she had been looking for. Making her way into the Aurors office, she had dropped of some food at Alice’s office, sure she would find it when she got back from wherever she had gone. Her next stop was the office of her best friend as she moved across the large amount of Auror offices and stopped in front of the door she was looking for.
Knocking on the door, she waited just a minute before moving inside. “Hello!” She called, holding the small basket in front of her. “I have some treats to drop off, I won’t be long, I promise. Just couldn’t bring some snacks and not come bring you some.” She teased with a small laugh.

Hypnos was by no means Kingsley’s ideal place to hang out on an evening off but in truth, even when he was off the man was working. Tonight there was a rumor of someone who he’d been tracking through the illegal spell dealings that were said to hang out in the club. Entering he elected to sit at the bar where he could have a drink in his hand to not look suspicious but a clear look around the place. Sitting his head nodded at the gentleman behind the bar, recognizing him instantly but electing to not say anything. “Could I just have a pint?

“Regardless how he acted with you, he should’ve known better than to run off.” She told him, with a slight looked before turning towards her son. She noticed Charlie look back with a small smile as if he was trying to cover up what he did. Molly knew that he probably spotted Kingsley before she did and took off, but she still needed to make sure he remembered how important it was to stay with her at all times. “But thank you for bringing him back. I’m just happy ti was you her found.” She commented.
Listening to her friend, she nodded her head a bit. “Well, I’m glad that work is keeping you busy, and that you’re getting time to just hang out.” She replied. Although, she really could stop the next sentence that came out, knowing it was just what she said. “And you’re taking care of yourself? I’m sure you all know at this point that I’m not scared to show up and make sure you’re resting.” Molly tried her best not to use her mom voice with her friends, but she couldn’t help it. Even back in Hogwarts she made sure to take care of all her friends, no matter what might’ve been the problem, she was there to help them with whatever they might’ve needed.
Hearing his question, she sighed a bit and looked over to her sons. “Well with these five, and one on the way, I’ve definitely been keeping busy. Although, probably not as busy as you.” She answered, shrugging her shoulders a little bit. “Rest is kind of a relative thing, but we’ve been able to get a few more hours of sleep now that we’re starting to get the boys on kind of a sleep schedule.” She continued, looking at the twins sitting in their stroller together. “But we’re making it. Just trying to figure out how to expand on the house.”
Tumblr media
His head nodded, completely understanding where Molly was coming from. Not to mention there wasn’t even the slightest of doubt that she was the best person to explain to Charlie why running away wasn’t okay. She would be able to put the right amount of seriousness in what he had done without scaring the pants off the poor boy, which if Kingsley was being honest, was his usual go-to method when dealing with any child. It had been Molly--and the Weasley boys--who had mellowed him out and taught him a new method to dealing with children. “I’m always happy to help when it comes to your people, you know that.”
There was no secret just how chaotic things had been lately and he was sure that even being at home with the boys most of the time that Molly could even see it. It was the in the way that people walked a little faster in the streets, how they avoided certain shops and in the way they looked over their shoulder. Kingsley had noticed it in the beginning but now it was impossible to miss. “Of course, I get enough rest and drink enough water.” He assured with a nod of his head at his words. “Honestly, you don’t need to add worrying about me to your never-ending list.”
A small smile grew at her words, “I heard about that. Congratulations, couldn’t happen to a more deserving family.” He admitted knowing about the love that both she and Arthur had not only for their own children but for everyone around them. “You know that if you need anything you don’t need to hesitate to ask. I’ll be happy to help with whatever it is. I can’t have you overdoing it.”

There was something particularly comforting working with someone that you knew and that knew you. Amelia didn’t have to constantly worry that he was following protocol, making sound decisions, or watching her back. She could trust that he was in sync with her, and that he’d be there if everything went belly up. Their partners shifted from time to time, but she knew that the department at least attempted to keep them with the same people when they could. Rolling her eyes, she answered back, “Of course, how silly of me” she teased. Having already checked that she was prepared, she extended an arm out to him so that they could apparate together. “After this week, easy is sound really nice right now. Absolutely, all in a days work right?” she answered. Amelia was certain that between the two of them that it would be a cut and dry case, and she was looking forward to unwinding later.

While they spoke he was more than aware that there wasn’t such a thing as a cut and dry case in the age that they were living in but they felt like that when he worked with someone like the Longbottoms or Amelia. People who knew what they were doing and knew what he was going to do next. His own arm extended to lock with her’s electing to take the lead and apparating them to the last known address on file for the bloke that they were chasing down. “Now, lets’ just hope this fool isn’t smart enough to realize just how hot on his tail we are, aye?” His low tone held a hint of humor that he was sure that Amelia wouldn’t miss.
