One of my FAVOURITE ship dynamics to write or read in fics is when two characters are basically already a couple but they just haven't realised it yet. They call each other up at like 3am, they cuddle, they sleep in the same bed, they fall asleep in each other's arms, they hold hands, they practically live together, they talk about having a ~ special connection ~, they just haven't actually kissed or done the do or talked about their feelings yet so they're still both like "but I just don't know if they like me in that way!!"

hey guys so um i haven’t read the brick fully yet i’m still in book one but what do we think of jolyferre. because i like rarepairs. and i think that they’re a very chill couple. and they’re both pre-meds.

also they have a black cat named robespierre who enjolras named because he had the honor of doing so. he will respond to any name so obes, obi, obi-wan, robe, robes, pierre, pie (pee), penis, pebis, spierre, ie (e), erre (air), ferre (the human and cat both get confused when they’re called), rob, robby, robert, spear, ro (row), and any other variation no matter how close or far it is to his actual name will probably work. (bahorel always calls him penis. but he has also the same type of humor as a 13yo teenage boy. (cough) gav (cough)) he’s also been on playdates with binky. (yes the newsies and amis coexist in this universe. i have a whole headcanons list complete with lore. it’s great.)
