History won’t forget the horror of a President who ordered millions of students back to school during a pandemic but, at the same time, demanded delay to an election that was bound to end in his defeat.
hobbits were the peak of civilization in tolkien verse. jobs were Gardening, Stall At The Farmer's Market, or Mailman. Shoes OFF, capris ON, 6 meals a day, high and fat as all shit. Names like Daddy Twofoot....why the fuck are we horny for elves
I know it’s not the most nuanced and sensitively handled piece of media but I’m so glad the Purge went from subtle social commentary to full on “Fuck the government, fuck the KKK and neo Nazis and the NRA, here are the poor black communities fighting back against government sanctioned genocide”
Each film has a great overarching theme as well
The Purge: the rich will literally not care about the death of the poor at the hands of the government until the violence inflicted on them is brought to their doorstep, the only exception among the rich being the young and empathetic
Purge Anarchy: the government is straight up lying when they say the Purge is working, and there are significant groups of resistance who have lost someone to an abusive government who come together to fight for each other
Purge Election Year: the only way to bring change to an abusive government is by supporting and electing officials who are working against the existing abusive regime, and that regime will often stop at nothing to prevent that kind of change, so people should never stop fighting for their chosen leaders
The First Purge: your government will manipulate results in order to make themselves look good. They will lie, they will pay to make something look more effective than it actually is, if they will profit from it. The government is anti-poor and racist as all get out and the community will protect each other more than an abusive government ever will.
It’s not a perfect series but I’m so glad the creators have no fucks left to give regarding their message.
