i know this feels sudden but we have literally been unhappy with our blogs since we made this one our main like 3 years ago. it was a terrible decision. we will be way happier with this

yea im definitely gonna rejack my blog. talked to friends about it and the pros just outweigh the cons

theres gonna be a list of all our blogs on our new main so if you like the chaos just follow them all

hi may I offer more cool space science? er, this one is more quantum mechanics than precisely space, but still cool science. there's this thing called the Heisenberg uncertainty principle, which is basically that when it comes to quantum particles, there are some characteristics, ie position and momentum or energy and time, that are linked so that the more you know about one characteristic the less you know about the other. so, the more you know about where a particle is the less you know about its momentum and vice versa; the more you know about how energetic a particle is the less you know about when it has that energy and vice versa.

but wait, what about in a vacuum? if you've got a box in a vacuum, you know the position of everything inside that box, and if it's a vacuum then everything inside it has no momentum, except hang on that violates the position-momentum uncertainty because now you know both the position and momentum of particles in this box. so, instead, in the case of a vacuum, energy-time uncertainty applies - on tiny time scales, particles constantly blink in and out of existence, so you never know how much energy is inside your box of vacuum. but all of this applies on a larger scale and even to the vacuum of space! so a vacuum isn't actually perfectly empty, but rather constantly seething with particles and energy on a quantum level. it's called zero-point energy and it actually more or less doesn't really affect anything classically, unless you're a scientist trying to perform an extremely precise and calculated experiment that could be disrupted by it, in which case you need to account for it. it's also been legitimately observed as long ago as 1996 (by Steven Lamoreaux, in case you want to do more reading on that experiment), which is pretty damn cool for something that admittedly, like most of quantum physics, sounds entirely made up! :D

like, restarting and splitting our stuff onto different blogs:

- would fix the problem of our notifications being constantly clogged 24/7

- would let people follow us just for one thing without getting swamped with something they really don’t like suddenly

- would let us be more organized and have the blogs we want to make but then think “agh, i just put that on my main blog anyway, i’ll forget to post there”

- would let us use some of the urls we have saved “just in case”

- would help us feel less guilty about suddenly going off about one specific thing all afternoon

- would take the pressure off from having literally over three thousand followers

the only downside is that y’all would have to follow us again. but you’d get to pick what you want to see, so net gain if you really really hate star wars or are uncomfortable with fnaf or something

im gonna sleep on it but there are a lot of things we’ve wished we could do with our blogs and making a new account would be a chance to actually organize things the way we want them to be organized without having to try to overhaul a 4-year-old blog

you could archive this blog if you wanna 1. keep it for posterity or 2. feel like you may want to come back?

you can even keep your current url on the new blog if you’d like, just gotta give this one something (usually [username]-archive) and use the shared sideblog feature to make sure your url is never up in limbo for anyone to grab :]

yeah thats what i was thinking! these blogs are just… So Old and thats partially a reason to keep them but also there is so much here from our past interests that we don’t agree with anymore and people still find somehow- idk, it would be nice to start over i think

i actually almost just want to. remake our entire tumblr. sure that would be a pain but also like this blog has 3k and most of them are inactive and there are a lot of really old posts on here that don’t reflect us

we started fresh on instagram recently and it was pretty freeing. so maybe. idk

ugh i kinda want to snap and just like. divide this blog into a bunch of sideblogs for our different interests so that people don’t have to get swamped with tons of things they’re not interested in and everything can be more organized but this blog has so much stuff on it and has been our one major blog for literally 4 years
