Hey there glad you’re writing for squid games! Could you please do Sae-Byeok x fem reader if they were partners during the Marbles game?

(HELLO! I'm very sorry that I'm late to this-- I have been completely busy.)

Sae-Byeok if you were partners in the Marbles game

The rules had just been announced, leaving a wide majority of the room silent, everyone processing what they had just been told. People looked over to their partners, or at their marbles.

It wasn't- this wasn't what was supposed to happen.

As if in unison, you and Sae-Byeok both looked at each other. One of you weren't going to leave this game alive, that was for sure. You didn't want to die- but Sae-Byeok couldn't. You couldn't let her die.

She was all you had for a long while, even before entering the games.

You had known each other throughout high school, you had drifted apart once you two graduated, but still kept in contact. That contact was what kept you together, despite your failing social life and crippling debt.

If you were to win, and leave with the marbles, you were still unlikely to even be one of the finalists. You'd probably die in the next game, while Sae-Byeok was cool and composed, she could survive anything, you were sure of it.

You'd do anything for Sae-Byeok, even put your life on the line. You sighed softly, clutching the marbles in your hand.

"So.."

"So."

You bit your tongue, putting your hands in your pockets and kicking a rock.

"What do we play?"

"I don't.. know.."

That was a first. Sae-Byeok always knew.

"Me neither."

"I don't want to play."

"Me neither."

The two of you sat down. Thinking. No, not thinking. Stalling. The timer clicked down ever so slowly as people began to their games. You two couldn't sit there forever. You'd both die.

You looked over to another group, watching them before turning to Sae-Byeok.

"What about what they're playing?"

Sae-Byeok looked over before nodded, letting out a soft;

"Okay."

You poured a set amount of marbles into your hand, closing it into a fist. You turned to look back at her. Sae-Byeok was the first to guess.

She thought for a moment.

"Even."

You cringed mentally, opening your hand to reveal five marbles. Sae-Byeok sighed gently, placing five more into your hand.

You waited as Sae-Byeok put the marbles into her hand. She glanced at you before closing her hand around them.

"Your guess."

"Odd."

She gently grabbed your hand, placing two marbles into it. She made eye contact with you. You swallowed, your eyes beginning to water.

"I'm sorry-"

"It's fine. It's just luck. I still have plenty of marbles left."

You poured more marbles into your hand..

The game went back and forth for a while, the two of you exchanging marbles while you got closer and closer to tears. With two minutes left on the clock, you looked down at the marbles Sae-Byeok just placed in your hand.

Your heart picked up. She seemed unbothered.

"Sae-Byeok?"

"Yeah?"

"How many marbles.. do you have left?"

She shrugged, smiling softly. Her eyes seemed to water as well.

"I'm not sure. Count yours."

You grabbed your bag of marbles, pouring it out on to the ground. You counted them.

You recounted them. And then you recounted them again. And then- the guard had walked over, peering over your shoulder and counting them with you. The guard spoke up.

"You have twenty."

You had twenty.

You turned, looking at your partner. You shook your head, the tears finally beginning to fall.

"No- No- Take mine, Sae-Byeok. Just one! Take it!"

You grabbed definitely more than one marble, grabbing Sae-Byeok's wrist and trying to force them into her hand. She refused them.

"Sae-Byeok! Please! Just take them!"

"Y/N."

You stopped, making eye contact with her. She was crying too.

"Keep your marbles, Y/N. You won them. They're yours now."

It was quiet now. Most people had left. There was a gunshot. You were pretty sure it was just you two and another pair left in this room now.

"I love you, Y/N."

"I love you too, Sae-Byeok- but- you can't. You can't let me win."

"You already did. There's no more time for another round."

The silence returned as Sae-Byeok embraced you, whispering comforts to you as you sobbed. There was a gunshot, louder than all the others you'd heard. Right by your ear.

"I love you. I really do."

And then the feeling of Sae-Byeok relaxed- no- limp in your arms.

You screamed, clinging onto the last bit of breath your lover had, your mind was static. You couldn't feel your own body. You weren't sure what was going on, but you were kicking and screaming as you were grabbed by both arms.

You were being dragged through and out of the room. You weren't able to comprehend this. Just the despair and ringing in your ear.
