AYLIN.

– “WELL, PISS ME OFF AND FIND OUT!” SHE DECLARES EMPHATICALLY, her index finger raised in his direction. it’s a CHALLENGE, but he’d be an idiot for taking it. he’s doing a pretty good job of the opposite anyway, beaming at her like that and being an excellent dancer. she spins in her heels and falls back against his chest, arms draped over his shoulders. “ yes, because you have a boring wardrobe, ” she remarks, “ but it’s good to get out of your comfort zone a little, right ? ” aylin teases, fingertips playing the the collar as she looks up at him. “ i knew you wouldn’t. so, i think it’s funny that you asked. ” 

Aylin’s so cute he might actually die because of it, and he does nothing for a moment except look at her --- the way he always does --- before he takes her hand and presses a kiss to the raised index finger. “I don’t want to find out. I’d be a colossal moron if I piss you off.” He’d actually hate himself for it. He keeps her close to him, arms firm around her as he slowly move to the music played. He lets out a chuckle at her words. “It’s a neat wardrobe,” he defends only lightly, but it’s no use. Aylin’s always been outspoken when it comes to his clothing style. “Hmm, maybe.” His tone is subtly playful. It’s not the first time he lets her pick his outfit for an event, but he’s still getting used to wearing something so outside his comfort zone. “Because I want to know.”

KASS.

        HIS SHYNESS ONLY MAKES HER GRIN WIDEN, and it’s easy to forget about his past with bash when they’re talking about love.   “ so it’s your first date ?   that’s so sweet, ”   she gushes, clutching her glass to her chest.   “ i hope you pulled out all the stops. ”   but she knows what kind of boyfriend julian is, so she knows he did.   “ are you going to see her this summer at all ?   what are you doing again ? ”   they haven’t talked very much these past few weeks, because of you-know-what. 

“Technically second. The first was the spring festival,” he tells her, reaching for a cupcake from the table. He does limit the quantity of dessert he eats, the cupcake being his first dessert of the night. If they weren’t made by Kass, he’d skip. Maybe he’s letting loose a bit tonight, but he’s still boring! He chuckles lightly, the shyness back. “Doing the most for her is the least she deserves,” he says, taking a bite. “She’s going to be in Turkey the entire summer, and I got accepted into an internship in England and one in Spain, so I just need to answer back with my choice. I’m flying to Los Angeles for a bit to see my family first.” And to visit Clara’s grave. “But yes, we will be seeing each other a few times.”

CHARLIE.

“  it’s  just  fine  !  no  complaints  here.  ”  it’s  hard  to  stay  too  thrilled  when  he  knows  what  this  night  really  means,  and  there’s  a  small  list  of  things  he  might  change.  but  he’s  trying  to  take  on  a  more  optimistic  outlook.  “  you’re  having  a  good  time,  i  hope  ?  ”  he  thinks  julian  could  use  a  bit  of  letting  loose.  “  not  really,  but  we  had  a  gen-ed  together  this  semester.  she’s  cute  …  !  you  two  look  good  together,  all  dressed  up.  ”  even  charlie’s  in  tune  enough  to  respect  the  saint  vs.  sinner  matchup.

“Yeah, I am. No complaints here, either.” Parties and events are not his thing and he’d rather skip them, yet he has attended most of them this year (thanks to Aylin leaving him no choice and the fact that he can never say no to her), but he’s more noticeably in better spirits tonight, too, after everything that happened with her and coming together tonight. He’s actually going to let loose (only a little). He’s still Julian. Unfortunately. He nods. “She’s very cute. Thanks. She actually helped me pick up the blazer.” Anyone who knows Julian well knows he has the most basic ass clothing style. He reaches to take a good sip of his drink. “Did you come here with anyone?”

SKYLAR.

“my, my – must be my lucky day.” skylar teases, before motioning toward the bar. she wonders what’s up, because there’s no way this is his first drink but at the same time she’s not going to be complaining. “yeah, it’s nice. no idea how many people will be sticking aorund though. kinda weird, no?” 

He gives her a small, dimpled smile. “It’s not that surprising.” It actually is, Julian. “What are you drinking?” he asks before he has to turn to the bartender to order for them both. “Yes, there’s a substantial number of people not coming back from what I have heard.” He doesn’t understand it, because it beats the point of coming to spy school in the first place. “It is weird. I don’t really understand it, but to each their own.”

KASS.

        “ WAIT, REALLY ? ”   her eyes widen, surprised at the news.   “ what does that mean ?   have you guys kissed ?   gone on any dates ? ”   she needs details !   “ slow is good. it’s probably what you both could use. ”   personally she can’t relate, but to each their own. shaking her head, kass glances around to find her.   “ no, but i’m not surprised. i’ll keep an eye out for her. ”

“We’ve kissed, yes.” He’s a bit shy as he says that, so he chuckles lightly as an effect to that, and he moves his fingers in his dark hair. “Well, this can be counted as one.” Gallagher’s hardly a place for dates, there isn’t that many options. “We’re just seeing where it goes.” He hasn’t dated anyone since Kass, so this feels like it’s new to him. Kass, help him, he’s bad at this. He nods. “She’s probably talking to friends.” He missed her already, sue him, so he’s definitely going to find her after his conversation with Kass.

AYLIN.

– “DOES THAT MEAN YOU’RE GOING TO TRY AND FIND OUT?” she asks him with a laugh, “ because i wouldn’t recommend that, i can be pretty SCARY ! ” maybe she is cute when she’s mad, but aylin on the warpath is not something that anyone would advise. still, it’s hard for her to imagine julian truly pissing her off, hopefully he’s already done his worst ! her expression softens slightly, she does love a compliment. “ thank you, ” she beams, she knows she looks beautiful but she likes to hear it, “ and you look gorgeous, i love this jacket on you. ” she tugs on the collar gently. “ hmm… ” aylin drapes her arms over his shoulders when he draws her close again, thank god for the ridiculous heels she’s wearing, “ ***flawless, maybe ? i think it depends on my mood. ” 

“I’ll admit I’m somewhat curious to see what a scary Aylin looks like, because I think it’s just as cute,” he teases, tugging her even closer and pressing his forehead to hers as he gives her a dimpled smile before he gives her another twirl. He’s definitely not going to do it, because why would he piss her off? All he wants to do all the time is see her as happy as she is right now, bright smile and bright eyes! Honestly, he can’t take his eyes off of her. “Thank you. It’s not something I’d usually wear.” And she knows very well how basic his style is. But he did get out of his comfort zone with this jacket. He keeps her close, arms firm around her especially given she’s wearing those heels (not surprising but Julian can’t imagine they’re comfortable!) and she’s been drinking. “I don’t know it.” No one is surprised.

SKYLAR.

“…oh wow, the one and only julian eaton wants to drink with moi? i’d be dammed if i passed that offer.” skylar grinned, wiggling her brows. “i hope they have wine.” 

“Of course I’ll want to get a drink with you,” he says with a slight chuckle. Though, Skylar is aware of his usual one glass rule. It’s obvious he isn’t abiding by it tonight. He hasn’t abided by it in half a year. “Yeah, they do.” He leads the way. “Are you enjoying your night?”

EDEN.

“Oh perfect! I was afraid the whole campus would be brand new faces.” If there wasn’t a single fourth year, she wouldn’t have been all that surprised either. There were other spy schools, it was too late in the year to get a transfer going she knew. “Yes. I have fallen in love with encryption and there’s nowhere else that will teach me this well.”

“I wonder if we will be getting a big number of newcomers,” he says, thinking to himself for a moment. He thinks the school’s reputation was dragged through the mud --- it won’t be motivating for people to enroll, which is a shame, because the education remains great. “Right, I doubt it gets better than what Gallagher offers. It’s good you are staying.”

TIGS.

tigs walks out whistling, doesn’t stop even as he spots julian as he walks over to wash his hands. “ and if i’m not? ” he answers curtly, looking at julian through the mirror, “ you gonna fuckin’ blackmail me? ”

If it were anyone else saying that, Julian would be affected by it, but because it’s Tigs, he remains neutral and stoic. “You’re full of jokes tonight, huh?” He moves to wipe his hands.

KASS.

        KASS OFFERS HIM A SMALL SMILE, and she’s reminded how last time they had talked, she had been crying on him as well. some things never change.   “ i’m glad you’re having fun. are you and aylin here as friends, or… ? ”   she trails off, raising a brow. she can never keep up, even if she desperately tries.

He’s expecting all these questions from Kass, but he welcomes them all, too, because she is one of the very few people he’s talked about what he feels for Aylin to. “Um, not as friends, but also we’re not official.” Whatever comes in the middle, he’s bad at this. “We’re taking this slow.” Mainly he’s following Aylin’s comfort and letting her lead this. He looks around to see if he can spot her from where he’s standing, but he doesn’t. “She looks very beautiful. Did you see her?”

CHANTAL.

      𝚝𝚛𝚞𝚝𝚑𝚏𝚞𝚕𝚕𝚢  ,  she’s  already  lost  count  of  how  many  drinks  she’s  had  .  but  it’s  fine  !  “  aw  ,  why  not  ?  i  thought  you  took  that  one  dance  class  they  offered  ?  ”  she  jests  .  “  no  ,  not  really  .  no  one’s  caught  my  eye  so  ,  meh  ,  ”  she  shrugs  and  takes  another  sip  of  her  drink  .  “  but  ,  ”  she  holds  up  her  index  finger  .  “  what  if  we  were  to  dance  and  i  take  the  lead  ?  would  that  make  you  feel  better  ?  ”

He chuckles lightly, shaking his head. “I have not, no. I have only taken the intro S&F class,” he clarifies. “It’s okay, you don’t need to lead,” he begins, offering his hand, giving her a smile and standing up. “I’m not promising a great dance, but hopefully you’ll enjoy it.” Julian knows what he’s good at and what he’s not, he’s not a great dancer but he’s decent at best, and he thinks Chantal deserves a dance and he will try his best to make sure she enjoys it.

AYLIN

– SHE LAUGHS LIGHTLY WHEN HE LEANS DOWN TO KISS HER FOREHEAD. he’s always been affectionate with her, but lately he’s been even MORE so, like she’s unlocked yet another side of him that’s new to her. it’s nice, knowing that she can follow her whims tonight and he’ll be there for her regardless. “ GOOD, i’m holding you to that promise, julian ! ” she says, reaching up to tap his nose. “ i’ll do my worst if you turn out to be a liar. and yes, but OBVIOUSLY those valentinos are so last week ? ” she gives him an expression that reads ‘duh!’ aylin follows his lead onto the dance floor, his embrace keeping her sturdy as he pulls her close. “ so far, so good. though i think beyonce is going to be the HIGHLIGHT. i just love her. ” 

He blinks when she taps his nose before he chuckles lightly. “Now I’m wondering what your ‘worst’ is,” he teases lightly, because she’s so tiny and cute, he imagines she’ll still be adorable even when she’s attempting to be mad. “Last week, got it.” He nods. “Well, you look beautiful,” he adds, and it’s already something he’s told her tonight, but he’ll say it again and again! “Yeah? I think that’s a common sentiment among most students tonight. What’s your favorite song?” Though odds are, he might not know it. He actually knows... two or three of her songs, and it’s most famous ones. He moves to give her a twirl before he tugs her close to him again, arms around her.

AYLIN.

– SHE’S A LITTLE BIT TIPSY, but either way she’d lean into his touch, turning to wrap her arms around his middle. she looks up at him, chin on his chest as she replies, “ never ! ” and the idea of ordering another drink is all but abandoned. “ of course i will, ” her hand drifts downward to grab his, lacing their fingers together affectionately, “ though if you step on my shoes, i will have to hurt you because these are my favorite jimmy choos. ” as if she doesn’t have a NEW favorite every week ! 

Julian reaches to brush loose strands of her hair behind her ear, leaning down to press a kiss to her forehead. Aylin’s definitely had a little too much to drink, but he’s glad she seems to be in high spirits. Of course, he’ll take care of her at the end of the night if she needs it. He gives her another dimpled smile as they intertwine their fingers together, giving her hand a gentle squeeze. “I promise you I won’t step on them. If I do, yes, you can hurt me and also, yell at me all night. Didn’t you have a different favorite pair last week?” he teases lightly, leading her away from the bar and towards the dance floor, wrapping his arms around her waist and tugging her closer. “Are you enjoying your night so far?”

“Thank you,” she smiled. “Oh, my mistake! You’re in the higher level classes and I must have assumed wrong. So you’re returning then? Many people aren’t and that’s a little sad, though I can’t blame them.”

“No worries at all,” he reassures her, waving his hand before he nods. “I am returning, yes.” He can’t imagine doing anything else but be a spy and the idea of switching schools is impossible to him. “Yes, a few are leaving, it’s been... a tough year to a lot.” An understatement. “I take it you’re returning?”

“Thank you, Charlie. Are you enjoying the night?” He takes the cocktail, giving his cousin a smile before it turns into a light chuckle, because the irony doesn’t go unnoticed. Though, he really hopes Charlie isn’t drinking too much tonight, because even if it’s a night where you could potentially allow yourself to let loose, it doesn’t count with Charlie, given everything. But he’s definitely not overstepping, it’s not his place when they’ve never really discussed this, but he’s definitely keeping an eye on him. Cousins <3. He smiles at the mention of Aylin, like the simp that he is. “Yes, I am. Do you know her?”

“  this  is  for  you,  ”  charlie  starts,  passing  a  cocktail  to  julian  with  a  smirk  before  sitting  down  across  from  him.  it’s  meant  to  be  in  irony,  for  they’d  spent  their  last  conversation  talking  about  being  sober  for  the  rest  of  the  semester.  surely  tonight  doesn’t  count,  however.  “  you’re  here  with  …  aylin,  is  it  ?  ”  it  dawns  on  charlie  how  little  he  knows  about  his  cousin’s  love  life  —  but  he’s  curious  now,  so  pardon  him  for  being  nosy  !

KASS.

        SHE DOESN’T HESITATE TO WRAP HER ARMS AROUND HIM, wanting to press her face in his chest for comfort, but holding back so she doesn’t stain his outfit with her makeup.   “ julian, please, ”   she sniffs, reaching up to wipe a tear out of the corner of her eye. he’s one of the people that’s hardest to say goodbye to, despite everything. sure, she had told claire she’d keep her distance from him, but she’s also not going to pass up this opportunity. kass pulls away so she could wipe her eyes a little easier, before glancing up at him.   “ did i smudge my makeup ? ”   this mascara better be waterproof. with a nod, she wraps her hand around the crook of his arm.   “ are you here with anyone ? ”   she means aylin, obviously. 

He leans down, pressing a gentle kiss to the top of her head before she pulls away. “You didn’t. It’s all good,” he reassures her, shaking his head. “You look beautiful and the party’s great” he adds. He’s trying not to think too much of the fact that she’s leaving tomorrow, but it’s not easy. He’s going to miss her a lot. He’s relieved she’s acting normally around him, especially after he was exposed and he told her the full story. He nods as he leads her towards the food table. “Yes, I came here with Aylin.” But maybe Kass should expect that answer anyway.
