Literally cannot emphasize enough that my #1 writing advice is to stop being afraid. Stop being afraid of sounding too cringe, or too stupid, or too horrifying, or too horny, or too weird, or too much, or too little, or too you. You need to put your entire pussy into your art. Sure, it won't be to everyone's tastes, but if you keep yourself to the blandest tamest safest roads possible you will be of no one's tastes, not even yours.

I went on a little mini writing retreat

I accidentally left my sleeping pad at home which meant I was sleeping on the hard plastic of the back of my Outback, which means I obviously slept like shit, but I had so much fun just being in nature and letting undistracted creativity take over

I'm currently learning German on both Duolingo and Rosetta Stone, and I'm enjoying the hell out of it

part of it comes from how I'm mimicking Val Kilmer's performance in The Saint whenever I try to pronounce things, but the other part is I'm just having fun making my brain work

still can't figure out how to pronounce some words ... my mouth just doesn't work that way yet and so it sounds like I'm trying to hawk (hock??) a loogie

so November 2nd was my last day at my job, and I apparently don't have a set date for my new job (it was technically supposed to be today, but they're still working on some paperwork-y type things that I have no control over of course)

I'm freaking out a little because well money, but at the same time, I've really needed a break

imagine being constantly stressed but, because it's all you know, you have no idea how tight you're strung, and then imagine feeling all of that stress leave your body when you realize you don't have to go back there anymore ... this relief is so overwhelming, and it makes me feel a little guilty for leaving because so many other people have that perpetual stress over them all the damn time

when I found out that I wouldn't be starting the new job today, my mom was like, "wait, why don't you just go back and tell them your start date changed and that way you can work a couple of shifts," and can I tell you how much anxiety that gave me? my heart rate skyrocketed and didn't slow down until I convinced myself that I wouldn't backpedal

I wouldn't say that I'm burned out; I still want to be a nurse and work in a hospital setting, but I cannot do it at that pace, which is why I was looking elsewhere in the first place
