Instead of making a Netflix reboot of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, why don’t they just make a movie of Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator instead of remaking the first book over and over? Especially since it’s basically an episode of Doctor Who. Could be really cool.
Sup! Can we get some more Factory redux content/headcannons in the chat?? Thank
let’s talk about violet
her mom essentially only liked her for her accomplishments as a ten year old. post going blue she swiftly became subject to neglect as her mother pursued uh, other venues of pride (re: being a trophy wife). so violet dealt with deep humiliation and extreme self image issues growing up! it was bad.
as an adult, she lives in an apartment and is practically agoraphobic. this mainly bc her history is well known, and it’s kind of hard to be out in public when you’re blue. dating is out of the question—vi tried that and accidentally wound up with a guy who thought it would be hot if she blueberried in front of him (which like. i’m writing as a kind of shoe in for abuse and mega humiliation. home girl is BROKEN)
she also has the worlds...glitchiest roommate, aka mike, who post dematerializing and losing his physical form is a digital hologram ghost that doesn’t always look human. because violet is terminally online, mike is able to manifest in her apartment and also hack into rich bank accounts to keep the bills paid.
he fucking loves committing crimes, which involves security hacks, which is exactly how he learns that charlie bucket is having his life force siphoned away while wonka is a capitalist little bitch. and that’s how factory redux begins!
I know people love dark, edgy, dramatic re-imaginings but I’ve been thinking about this. What if Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was re-written like Bob’s Burgers.
Arguably we as a fandom could wonder about setting Charlie and the Chocolate Factory during the 2020s or even the 1990s or even 1980s.
Steampunk, or even during alternative timelines.
But riddle me this.
Nobody has ever set Charlie and the Chocolate Factory during it’s canon years.
So ive been noticing for a while now how this fandom (phantom of the opera) is being affected by dark themes in fics and art. Apparently every new thing and theme in the fandom must be darker and darker and edgier all the time, untill you wont even recognize the original content anymore and every character arc is lost and twisted.
That being said, i think the fandom needs a reminder of why fics and fanart exists in first place: to be wholesome, to make people happy, to give closure from a difficult canon. So thats why i did this piece, to bring love, romance and wholesomenes back to this place.
i tried to move on, but i have been warned that while im posting this, there is fandom drama happening on some discord right now that i have been banned, where people are calling me feminazi and cunt cause i was worried about the escalating rape themes in the fandom and how this was affecting several young women, and i am not even there anymore to deffend myself anymore.
i will just say i will always deffend women’s rights, and i will never defend rape glorification or rape culture. Yes, i am radical in my opinions. There are things we just can’t be in the fence.
