The Wrong Team Can Kill Your Dreams (And Bank Account)
Tumblr media
Introduction: Imagine this: You're standing on the precipice of success. Your vision is clear, your passion is burning... but your team is a dumpster fire. Misunderstandings, missed deadlines, and a toxic atmosphere slowly poison your progress. Your dream isn't just dying – it's being murdered by incompetence. This isn't a horror story; it's the chilling reality faced by countless entrepreneurs and small business owners. The wrong team can literally bankrupt your dreams. My Own Personal Nightmare Would you pay someone to go and rob you? Absolutely not! But that is what we do every time that we hire the wrong person. Not only do we need to hire the right person, but we also have to know when to hire. Me personally I have made the mistake of hiring the wrong individual, at the wrong time, and for the wrong reason too. An employee should either save you money or make you money. If he or she is not doing one of those 2 you need to fire that person. Either they are not doing a good job or you did not need them in the first place. And if you are working for somebody else; don't you ever think that you are being paid what you are worth. That will never happen unless you own your own business. The company or person that you are working for needs your work to produce enough money so it can cover your salary, and business expenses and of course, make additional money for the company. That is called capitalism. Back when I had the trucking company I made a mistake that cost me a contract with the USPS that we had. Because I made a bad hiring decision, I lost the contract and, therefore the majority of the revenue for the company. And that was the beginning of the end. That started a chain reaction that led me to my first bankruptcy. And everything is because of a bad hiring decision. In my case, it was the right person but at the wrong time. I experienced some success with that company and I went and got a nice office in a fancy building. I just wanted to fit my ego and show people where my business office was. One more time letting pride get the best of me. And so you know, what the bible says in Matthew 23:12 NIV: For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted. So God humbles me one more time but not before teaching several lessons about hiring the right people and the right time for the right reasons. I hire the right guy to run my office. But I hire a lot of wrong people to run the company's operations. I got lazy and didn't take the time to hire the right team. I thought that some positions in the company didn't require to have to best candidates. I just wanted to take some of the workload off my shoulders and I thought I could go by with less qualified individuals in some of the company's positions. I could not be more wrong. When I lost that federal contract, guess what happened? The first team members that I lost were the good ones. Because they didn't want to be part of a failing company and they knew they were good so they could get another job really easily. And I don't blame them. I would have done the same thing in their position. But I was stuck with those few bad apples. That lacked the skills, and work ethic required to try to get the company out of the hole that I put it in. I am not talking badly about them. They only knew what they knew. It was my fault in the first place for hiring the wrong individuals, and the wrong time, and for the wrong reasons. The moral of the story; take your time and do your research well before you hire someone. That decision can make or break your business. The High Cost of Bad Hires (And It's Not Just Financial) My story isn't unique. Research by the U.S. Department of Labor estimates that the cost of a bad hire can equal 30% of the employee's first-year earnings. But that's just the tip of the iceberg. A 2023 Gallup study found that actively disengaged employees cost the global economy $7.8 TRILLION in lost productivity. It's not just about the money; it's about: - Morale: A bad apple spoils the bunch. One toxic team member can create a culture of negativity that infects everyone. - Turnover: Constant hiring and firing is expensive and time-consuming. A revolving door of employees can destabilize your entire business. - Missed Opportunities: While you're dealing with internal chaos, your competitors are innovating and gaining market share. - Burnout: As a leader, the stress of managing a dysfunctional team can lead to exhaustion and disillusionment. The Antidote: Building Your Dream Team The good news? It's entirely possible to build a team that elevates your vision, not destroys it. Here are the essentials: - Values Alignment: Hire people who share your passion and work ethic. This is far more important than technical skills alone. - Clear Communication: Set crystal-clear expectations from day one. Regularly check in and provide feedback. - Diverse Skills: Seek out individuals with complementary strengths and weaknesses. A well-rounded team is a resilient team. - Accountability: Establish a culture where everyone is responsible for their actions and results. - Investment in Growth: Provide ongoing training and development opportunities to keep your team engaged and motivated. Conclusion: The Future of Your Dream Is in Their Hands The people you hire are not just employees; they are co-creators of your destiny. Take the time to find the right team – the ones who will inspire you, challenge you, and help you bring your vision to life. The success (and sanity) you'll gain are worth far more than any short-term financial savings you might achieve by settling for less. Remember: Your dream deserves a team that will fight for it, not against it. Read the full article

We Are God's Bank: Understanding Banking Principles
Tumblr media
Introduction "Become aware: Your financial habits are not just transactions, they are testimonies. In understanding banks, we uncover our role as stewards of God’s wealth." This provocative thought challenges us to rethink our relationship with money and banks, proposing that we are not merely consumers or account holders but active participants in a divine trust. Personal Experience: A Story of Financial Revelation I don't know about you but it was not too long ago when I understood a little better how the financial blessing that comes from God works. To me, every pay increase, every promotion, and every business expansion that generated more money, I thought that God was blessing me so I could have more stuff. A bigger house, a newer car, expensive clothes, and more vacations. Again, I am not saying that there is something wrong with having all these things. But I never took the time to ask God; what do you want me to do with these extra resources? This is a very difficult question to ask because in many cases we are afraid of the answer. You see, is a lot easier just to be grateful and thank God for the financial blessings and go and spend the money in any way we want instead of asking Him what to do with it. Because if we are as obedient as we say we are and God tells us for example that we need to give that money away to help someone or to help a cause, we will think twice at least. If you are like me, sometimes you would be willing to disobey God and spend that money on what you want despite that you heard and understood God's instructions. As the saying says; it is better to ask for forgiveness than permission. And this is a big mistake. The Bible says in Luke 16:10 “If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities. Many times we ask God for more and bigger blessings. But how could God bless us more when we have shown Him that we cannot manage those financial blessings properly? God our Father wants to bless us in every way. But He will not give us something that we are not ready for and that we cannot handle properly. We are the hand in feet of God. So He works through us. Every time that there is a need in this world, He is looking for a faithful man or woman that He can bless so he or she can fulfill that need. For example; recently there was heavy rain for several days in Houston Texas. This caused flooding, and major disaster throughout the area. People lost their homes, their cars, and their personal properties. Many lost all their possessions and in a few hours became homeless. On top of that, many families didn't know where their next meal was going to come from. But there was Mr. Joe to the rescue. A local business owner who owns a big furniture store with several locations. Mr. Joe rented trucks so he could send employees and volunteers to pick up those families and bring them to his furniture stores. There, he provided shelter, clothes, basic needs, and 3 meals a day for every person that was there. And of course, he did this from the goodness of his heart and not expecting to make any money out of it. He just wanted to help people in need. You see, he was willing to shut down his business for as long as it needed to be shut down as long as he was doing what God put in his heart to do. He was God's bank. He has shown God for years that he can be trusted with plenty of resources. Every year during the Christmas season Mr. Joe gives away free furniture to families in need. So for years, God has seen Mr. Joe's character. And God knew that He could keep blessings on Mr. Joe because he was going to do the right things in a moment like this. God kept making financial deposits into Mr. Joe's bank. Blessing him financially every year more and more. Why? Because Mr. Joe shows faithfulness in the little things every year helping others with free furniture. And God knew that if He blessed Mr. Joe with more finances, those finances would be safely guarded, invested, and multiplied so when the time came that God needed to ask Mr. Joe for a withdrawal so He could use that money to help others, Mr. Joe would say yes. And there will be plenty of resources to help as many people as possible. If I ask you; do you want to have more money? Your answer will be yes. At least if you are really honest with yourself. Next questions; How have you managed the resources that God already blessed you with? Probably not well if you are anything like me. The good news is that God our Father keeps believing in us and He will like to use us no matter what. So there is always an opportunity to learn. Fix our behaviors and let God show us how to be better stewards. God is always available and willing to teach and guide us. We are the ones who are too busy all the time and don't want to stop, listen, and obey what He is trying to teach us. God wants to use all of us to be channels and vessels of blessings for and to others. But we have to be obedient. We have to understand that everything comes from God and it should go back to Him. How does it go back to Him? By honoring Him and using the resources that He has blessed us with in a way that honors Him, His word (The Bible), and His instructions. These simple steps will mean the world to God, trust me. Every time that you receive financial blessings; Pray, return the Thithes to Him, offer a financial Offering, Read His Word, Meditate On it, Listen, and Obey. Easier said than done but these steps will help you develop the character that you need to have in order for God to bless you even more and become one of God's favorite banks where He can make constant deposits. Knowing that you will steward those resources properly. By making wise investments and by saving. So when the time comes for God to ask for a withdrawal so He can use those resources to help others or a cause, there will be plenty. Data: The Mechanics of Banking and Stewardship Understanding how banks operate is essential for effective financial stewardship. Banks utilize deposits to make loans, generating interest from these loans as a primary revenue source. This cycle of depositing, lending, and earning interest mirrors the stewardship concept where resources are managed to yield growth. A study by the Federal Reserve indicates that banks hold about 10% of their deposits in reserve, illustrating the principle of prudence and reserve in both financial and spiritual contexts (Federal Reserve, 2019). The Problem: Misalignment of Financial Practices The main issue arises when individuals mismanage their finances or fail to see their role as stewards. This misalignment can lead to irresponsible spending, poor investment choices, and a lack of savings, which contradict the principles of good stewardship. The Solution: Aligning Financial Habits with Stewardship To realign our financial habits with the principles of stewardship: - Budget Wisely: Create and adhere to a budget that reflects your values and priorities, ensuring that your spending supports your overall life goals. - Save and Invest Prudently: Build savings and choose investments that not only grow your wealth but also contribute positively to society. - Educate Yourself: Continuously seek knowledge on financial management to improve your stewardship skills. By adopting these practices, we can better fulfill our role as prudent managers of the resources entrusted to us. Conclusion: Our Role as Divine Stewards In conclusion, understanding how banks work offers more than just financial literacy; it enlightens our role as stewards of God’s wealth. By aligning our financial practices with this perspective, we not only manage our finances more wisely but also fulfill a higher purpose. Read the full article

Want vs. Need: Navigating Our Desires
Tumblr media
Introduction "Chasing what we want instead of securing what we need is like sailing a ship with a golden helm but no compass: glamorous but directionless." This provocative opening challenges us to rethink our priorities, exploring the often blurred line between desires and necessities. Personal Experience: A Story of Reevaluation What is your number? I like to ask this question to people because it confuses the majority of them. Here, I am not asking for age or your favorite number. I am asking for the number that you think is enough. You see, as I mentioned in the past numbers are infinite. And if you don't have a very specific number financially speaking, that you would like to achieve you will always be chasing another dollar. Why? Because you can always have more. But just because you can doesn't mean that you should. You have to give before you can receive. That is a rule of life and no one can escape it. So you have to think about what you will have to give in order to obtain what you want. For many of us, we give our entire lives away chasing that money. And at the end of our lives, we realize that we can't take anything with us and we wasted a unique opportunity to live a life truly abundant. Again, I am not saying that having money is bad. Neither you should not have and pursue your financial goals and become rich and wealthy. What I am saying is that we need to take a closer look at what we really want and realize that there is a price to pay for it. Not too long ago I was talking with an acquaintance and I could not help it to kind of envy him. His business is booming, he is hiring more people constantly, he buying every guy toy that you can imagine; money seems to be falling from the skies for him. A short while after that encounter, we had dinner and spent some time together with our families. There we talked more than just business. The veil was torn and we talked more about personal things. It was not that long after we started talking that I realized; I really don't envy this guy. If I have to pay the price that he is paying to have the money that he has, I don't want it. You see, on the surface, everything looks beautiful and peaceful. But dip down there is a tornado going on that we just don't see and in many cases care to investigate or ask. You see other people driving expensive cars, living in very big houses and we say; it must be nice, assuming that person had it easy. And that person must be very happy and comfortable because of all the possessions that he or she has. Not knowing that either they paid, or are paying a high price for all the things that they have and we are not talking about money. I am talking about their health, relationships, families, and in the worst-case scenario their salvation. Nothing worth having in this life comes easy. So another question is; Are you willing to pay the real price for what you want or you are comfortable with what you have? Many times we focus and concentrate so much on what we want that we forget that we already have a lot. We get confused very easily and say I need this and I need that when in reality the majority of those times we should be using the word want. Many of us have everything that we need. But again, we spend so much time and energy thinking about what we want that we don't appreciate what we already have. It is highly likely that if you are reading this, you have a place to live, you have a job, a business, or some source of income. You probably have a way of transportation that takes you from point A to point B, and perhaps even a healthy family. You probably have at least 3 meals a day too. That alone should be enough reasons to be extremely grateful and to realize that we are super blessed and that we have more than what we need. In many cases the thing that we are chasing we already have, we just have not taken the time to notice it. Happiness sometimes is hiding in plain sight. It is called contentment. Freedom is knocking on the door but we are not willing to open it because we are afraid that the things that we are holding inside will leave. Let's be honest with ourselves and do an assessment of our lives and our possessions. If we do this assessment honestly I truly believe that we will realize that the majority of us already have what we need when it comes to material stuff. Perhaps we concentrate too much on what we want and don't want to focus on what we really need because in many cases is easy to occupy our minds by thinking about the stuff that we want instead of the things that we need. For example; We may think about the new and bigger house. Or maybe the brand-new Toyota SUV or Pickup Truck. Or the latest iPhone or Android cell phone. And we can call all these things needs. But are they really needs or wants? If we are honest we can quickly realize that they are wants and not needs. Again, nothing wrong with wanting them but let's call them for what they are. Now things like becoming a better husband, a better father, and a better citizen, are things that we need. But because they don't sound fun and you don't see a material return in our actions and behaviors we try to avoid doing them or don't give them the importance and priority in our lives that they deserve. How about losing weight and becoming healthier? This one personally hurts me because I have struggled with my weight my entire life. This is something that I definitely need. But am I doing what I need to do in order to lose weight and become healthier? The answer is no. Why? Because it is easier to think and work on the things that I want and on the possessions that I can accumulate instead of dealing with the issues, behaviors, and things that I need to change my life for the better. Let us stop lying to ourselves and call the things in our lives for what they are. If they are wants, go for it. Nothing wrong with wanting stuff. But the same way if they are needs, go for it. And don't be afraid to change because, at the end of the day, those uncomfortable changes will get you closer to the best and better version of yourself. Data: The Psychological Impact of Wants vs. Needs Research by the Consumer Psychology Department at Stanford University reveals that individuals focusing on wants over needs tend to experience shorter bursts of happiness that diminish quickly, leading to constant dissatisfaction (Stanford, 2020). Another study by the American Psychological Association indicates that prioritizing needs leads to long-term fulfillment and stability (APA, 2019). The Problem: Misplaced Priorities The crux of the issue lies in our tendency to confuse wants with needs. This confusion can lead to financial instability, personal dissatisfaction, and business inefficiencies, as we allocate resources to less critical aspects of our lives and work. The Solution: Aligning Priorities with Purpose To align our actions more closely with our true needs: - Assessment of Priorities: Regularly evaluate your personal and professional life to distinguish between what you truly need and what you desire. - Budgeting for Needs First: Allocate resources to meet your needs before spending on wants. This ensures stability and prevents resource depletion. - Mindful Consumption: Practice mindfulness to make informed decisions that resonate with your long-term goals and well-being. Adopting these strategies helps balance our approach to wants and needs, fostering both personal and financial well-being. Conclusion: The Balance of Want and Need Understanding the difference between wants and needs is crucial for lasting satisfaction and success. By focusing on our needs while responsibly managing our wants, we can achieve a more fulfilling and sustainable lifestyle. Read the full article

Success: When Purpose Meets Achievement
Tumblr media
Introduction "True success isn’t just about wealth or power; it’s about achieving what we are truly meant to do—fulfilling our purpose." This bold assertion challenges the conventional markers of success, urging us to delve deeper into the essence of what it really means to be successful. Personal Experience: A Journey to Purposeful Success How much money do you need to make or have in order to be considered or feel like you are successful? Do you know the biggest problem that we face when we measure our success only by the money and wealth that we possess? That money is infinite. Therefore, you can always have more. And if you only measure your success based on your possessions you will never be satisfied or fulfilled because you can always have more. Therefore you will never feel like you are successful. That is why many of us get into this endless journey and make the mistake of thinking that money will solve everything. How many of us have said, when I make this much money in a year I will be happy. Or how about this one? When I get that promotion I will be satisfied. Here is another popular one; When my business gets to this level I will slow down and spend more time with my family. All of these statements are just lies that we tell ourselves. And in many cases, we do this just to feed our egos. It is so sad that after we achieve those things and get to the status or levels that we want to get and make the money that we want to make, the things that we said we would do, in many cases, we don't do them. Why is that? Well, because it was an illusion. Either we still feel incomplete and or unhappy, or we just get used to the validation that our careers give us and we get addicted to feeling that we are winning. Or worst-case scenario, you never achieve the financial, business, and career goals that you set for yourself, therefore you never stop pursuing them. How many of you have heard the statement that money doesn't buy happiness? I disagree; money can buy you a lot of happiness. I and my family like to travel and we have been to a lot of places and have created everlasting memories that without money we wouldn't have been able to create. That being said, success cannot be achieved only with the money and possessions that you have. If I were to finish my story here and only talk about the places that I have taken my family on vacation I would give you the wrong impression. For the last several years, I would say almost 15 years or so; I have taken my family every year on 3 to 4 vacations a year. And we have been everywhere. If you read and hear this statement, probably you will think that I am very successful. You may even think that I am a great father and an awesome husband. The truth is that I am not. You see, for many years I have focused and concentrated only on making money. Don't care who I need to manipulate, what lies I need to say, what corners I need to cut, or how many hours I need to work. All I wanted was to make money. Therefore, I have neglected my wife and my children a lot. All these vacations that I have gone with my family are a form of compensation to them because I feel super guilty for the absentee moments that I have with them. And during those vacations, I am not really present. I am always on my phone texting, checking and sending emails, or on my laptop checking things online. Not to mention, my attitude and my temper. You see another problem is my behavior. Being in money-making mode at all times robs you and prohibits you from really enjoying that time off with your family. We could have been on a beautiful beach and I could not enjoy it because I felt that I was wasting my time there when I could have been making money. What is the point of making money if you can't spend it and enjoy it with your loved one? This made me realize that I was doing several things wrong. One of those things was; how I was making my money and what I was doing to pursue my financial goals. You see, money was the number one priority for me. And a piece of paper or a number on a screen should not and cannot have that level of importance in any of our lives. I am not saying that money is not important because it is. What I am saying is that it cannot be our number one priority. Here is how I am trying to prioritize things in my life now. God of course is number one. But it has not always been that way but I am trying to put God first every day in everything that I do. Me second. And this one perhaps is one of the most difficult for me. Putting me second means taking care of me. Especially taking care of my body. I am obese and I need to do something in that regard but I am dropping the ball constantly. But I am taking baby steps and hopefully soon I will be in better shape and healthier. Third is my wife. The love of my life who has been through hell with me. I need to be a better husband and a better partner for her. I have a long way to go here too but I am a work in progress. Next in line are my children. I need to be a better example for them. I have 6 kids, 1 girl, and 5 boys. And I know that I have shown my daughter the wrong image of what she needs to look for in her future husband. And to my sons, I have not modeled them how a godly man should lead their homes and their families. So I have a lot of fixing and re-doing to do. Hoping that I am not too late. And then fulfilling my purpose in this life. And lastly making money. A completely different order on how I was doing things before. And my first step and perhaps the most important that I am doing right now is trying to seek God every day so He can give me the desires of my heart so I can do His will and seek His kingdom first instead of just money. And trust me when I tell you, it is not easy. I quit my job/business that I had. Taking a massing pay cut so I can spend more time with my family. I went to work as an employee for someone after many many years of being my own boss. I am working 6 days a week roughly 14 hours a day to make about 33% of what I was making before. But I get to see, kiss, and hug my wife and kids every day and that is more than worth it. Now I have to depend more on God for the provision for me and my family and that has been a major adjustment too. Now I have to wait for the things that I want to do in business and in my life because I don't have neither the time nor the resources to do them. Forcing me to slow down and talk to God more about these things and seek His wisdom and guidance so I can take more firm and secure steps. He revealed to me a while back what He created me for. So now I have the time to work on that. And while I am fulfilling my purpose, He is taking care of all my needs and wants too. Something that I never thought was going to be possible. I thought that I needed to make as much money as possible so I could have the time to do what God really created me to do. But instead, what He is showing me is that if I do His will, He will take care of all my wants and needs. I don't have to worry about those things anymore. He got me! Of course, as I mentioned before; it doesn't mean that I am sitting doing anything. But what it means is that I am doing my part and moving forward while trying not to worry as much about the things that I need and want. I am not rushing into things. I am trusting God more and I am trying to be obedient to Him and His word. And I am having a great time. It is scary, and to be honest sometimes painful. But I won't trade it for anything because, for the first time, I am experiencing or perhaps noticing how it feels when someone is taking care of me and looking after me. And that someone is God. God has always been there for me and for you too. We just ignore Him and sometimes we are so fullish to think that we can do better than the creator of the universe. How ignorant right? But thanks to His Grace and Mercy here we are. And the One that started the work in us will finish it. Seek God and His kingdom, align His will with your desires, and you will fulfill your purpose in this life. Leading you to experience real wealth and real success. Data: The Impact of Purpose on Success Studies show a direct correlation between clear personal purpose and perceived success. According to research by the University of California, individuals who align their profession with their personal values and purposes are 42% more likely to report high life satisfaction (University of California, 2019). Additionally, a Gallup poll indicates that businesses driven by purpose-oriented leaders tend to have 30% higher levels of innovation and 40% higher levels of retention (Gallup, 2018). The Problem: Misaligned Success Metrics In today’s fast-paced world, many measure success through material gain or social status, often leading to a misalignment between what they pursue and what truly brings them fulfillment. This disconnect can result in dissatisfaction and a lack of true accomplishment despite apparent successes. The Solution: Realignment and Recognition To genuinely achieve success, consider these steps: - Identify Your Purpose: Reflect deeply on what brings you joy and satisfaction beyond material rewards. - Set Purpose-Aligned Goals: Develop goals that reflect your purpose and set measurable milestones to track your progress. - Celebrate Purposeful Achievements: Recognize and celebrate each achievement that aligns with your purpose, regardless of its scale. By realigning our actions with our true purposes, we not only enhance our own sense of success but also contribute more meaningfully to the world around us. Conclusion: Defining Success on Your Terms In conclusion, redefining success as the fulfillment of purpose rather than the accumulation of wealth or status allows us to achieve a more profound and satisfying form of success. By understanding and pursuing what genuinely matters to us, we pave the way for a life of true accomplishment and joy. Read the full article

Guarding Your Genius: When Talents Are Misused
Tumblr media
Introduction "Your greatest asset, your gifts and talents, are also your greatest vulnerability—especially when they are put to work with the wrong intentions and on the wrong things." This compelling statement forces us to confront a harsh reality: the misuse of personal gifts and talents can have devastating effects and it can destroy ourselves, our loved ones, and everybody around us if we don't correct this sooner than later. Personal Experience: A Story of Try and Error Every gift and every talent that we possess comes from God. I am not talking about skills. Those we can acquire along the way any day of the week. I am talking about those things that you are naturally good at. Things that you do with passion. Things that you are willing to do even though you don't make money out of it. Those things that people always ask you about. Or those things that people tell you that you are good at. Things that are second nature for you and are very easy to understand, do, and teach to others. The things that perhaps you don't want to do, but deep down you know that your contribution can help someone else, and that brings you mixed feelings of joy and fear. You see, to me, for reasons that I still don't understand, God has blessed me with a few gifts and talents. I am ashamed to admit that for most of my life, I have used those gifts and talents for the wrong reasons doing the wrong things. One of my gifs is that I know how to talk to people. In a term that perhaps you can understand better, I am a great salesman. If I want to get my point of you to prevail and influence a conversation to go my way, there is a good chance that I will get it done. And the crazy part is that I am a loner. I enjoy being by myself and I don't really like talking to people. But when I do, I am good at and is easy for me to connect with others and others connect with me. People that I just met, will tell me their live stories and ask my opinion on things that they are going through. As you can see this is a great gift to possess because we all need a set of ears once in a while that can listen to our complaints, frustrations, and problems, and give us some advice or show us a different point of view so we can grab life by the horns and take control of the situations that we are facing. But when this gift is misused it can be devastating for you and everyone around you. I can talk my way out of any problem. I can also talk myself into many more. You see, instead of using this particular talent for good, for the majority of my life, I have used it for evil. I have used to lie, manipulate, and cheat in life so things will go my way. So I can get what I want when I want. And trust me, there is no such thing as a free meal like the saying says. Ask yourself in what areas you are good at, but you keep failing over and over. If you are trying to do something that you know you should be succeeding in and you are not, and despite that, you are trying over and over and you keep failing; there is a good reason that you are using your gifts and talents on the wrong things and in the wrong ways. Perhaps even in the wrong place. Like I said before, because I know how to communicate with people, most of the time I have used this gift to manipulate others and for the wrong reasons. An example of this bad behavior was when I convinced 3 different lending agencies to lend me around $750,000 so I could grow my used car dealership despite the fact that at the time I had failed my first bankruptcy 3 years prior. And I got my way. I got the money. I mismanaged that money and that manipulation led me to my second bankruptcy within 5 years. The crazy part is that I didn't need that money. My business was making money and I was fine. I didn't need anything. I just wanted to be rich and make a lot of money as fast as I could. Especially because I already had a bankruptcy and I wanted to prove to others that you can become rich fast even though you had a bankruptcy. How ignorant and selfish I was. Trying to impress people who don't know me nor care about me at all while sacrificing and destroying myself and my family. But because God's Grae and Mercy is something unesplanable, here I am still. God took it all away and let me hit the bottom again. Not to punish me, but to give me an opportunity to start all over again and do it right this time. Trusting Him as my provider and trusting His time and His way. That doesn't mean that I will sit and do nothing. What it means is that I will pray more so He can give me the wisdom and the desires of my heart so I can do his will and do what needs to be done. Now I am trying to put those gifts and talents to work for good. Here is one of those examples. I don't like to write these blogs at all. Trust me when I say that. But for some reason when I start writing, the words keep jumping out of my brain, and once I start writing it gets easier for me to continue. So much so that many times I lost sense of the time and when I realized I had been writing for hours. Am I a writer? Absolutely not. But I believe that I have a gift for communicating with others and God is encouraging me to acquire the skills of writing so I can communicate with people this way. You see God already has done His part in my life and yours but He will never do your nor my part. He already blessed us with gifts and talents but it is our part to acquire the necessary skills and to practice so those gifts and talents can flourish and be put to good use. We are equipped with what we need to fulfill our purpose in this life. We come to this world with all the bells and whistles that we will ever need. It is our job to discover them and align our hearts with God's heart so we can do His will. The Impact of Talent Misuse We all have so much potential. But that potential without action, perseverance, and the right intentions will get us nowhere. I see all of us and the entire world like we are a huge network that is connected with each other some way somehow. The way that we need the oxygen that the trees produce, the way that the trees need the water to survive, the water that goes to the ground and eventually to the sky so it can go back to the ground. How our food chain works too. It may be a little crazy and a little discosting to think about but analyze this thought; if we eat something, we will defecate, in many cases that will become fertilizer that will help grow more food, and that food eventually we will eat it again. It is a full circle. good luck getting that picture out of your mind 😅. The same way I think about all of us humans. I think that we need each other more than we think. Your life and your life stories' have enormous value. There is someone out there who needs to hear what you have been through and how to overcome it so they can be encouraged and see and do it too. There is someone who can take advantage of your experience so they can get and do better in this life. There is someone who needs to hear your testimony so they can overcome their addiction, depression, marriage, and family troubles, financial setbacks, etc. It is our moral duty to discover our gifts and talents; combine them with our life experiences and put them to good use. By praying, seeking God's heart and wisdom, and helping others while fulfilling our life's purpose. The Problem: We Think That We Are Not Qualify For many of us, I think that 2 of the major problems are that either we think that we don't have what it takes or simply we are too busy trying to get ahead in life that we don't pay attention to what God is trying to do in and through us. And perhaps, we are right. I know that I am not qualified to do any of this. But I know that the one who called me, God, already deposited in me all the gifts and talents that I need in order to succeed. All I need to do is pray and seek Him so He can show me how to develop them and use them properly. We need to slow down a little bit. Many of us all we try to do is make more money to buy stuff that in the end, we cannot take with us. Not that making more money is a sin or it is wrong. Nowadays we need money for everything. But it should not be our number one priority. Seek God and His Kingdom and everything else will be added. That is what His good word says. The Solution: Slow Down, Pray, and Meditate To find out what gifts and talents you possess and how to use them, consider the following steps: - What am I good at?: Ask yourself this question and answer honestly. What can I do every day and even if I don't get paid for it I will do it happily? - Ask family and friends what are you good at: Ask your loved ones, coworkers, and friends, what they think you are good at. Ask them to be honest with you and you should be able to receive good feedback from them. This should help you discover how others think and perceive about you. - Get closer to God: Read the Bible, Pray, and meditate on His word. Every good thing comes from God. So if you get closer to Him, He will reveal to you the plans that He has for you since you were in your mother's womb. These are 3 very easy things but I believe very powerful practices that can help you discover your gifts and talents and how to put them to work. Conclusion: Reclaiming and Respecting Talent In conclusion, remember that you already have what it takes. God gave it to you since you were in your mother's womb. It is our job to discover those gifts and talents and to put them to good use. And in reality, it should not be that hard because they should come naturally to you. If you don't know what they are, ask your loved ones what you are good at. Read the Bible, Pray, and Meditate in His word. And don't think that you don't have what it takes because we are not doing this on our own. We are doing it with the strength of the one who called us. And if you have used your gifts and talents for the wrong things, don't worry. Ask God for forgiveness and ask Him to show you how to use them for good instead of evil and He will give you the wisdom and guide your steps. Read the full article

Navigating the Storm: Surviving a Second Bankruptcy
Tumblr media
Introduction "Bankruptcy is not the end; for many, it's a challenging beginning. Facing it twice? That's a testament to resilience and the start of a profound transformation." This bold statement invites us to rethink our perception of financial setbacks, especially when they strike more than once. Personal Experience: A Journey Through Double Bankruptcy How does the saying go? Full me once shame on you, full me twice shame on me. You would think that going through bankruptcy would be a hard enough experience that I won't do it again. You would also think that I should have learned my lesson and avoided what led me to that first bankruptcy in the first place. Not me; I am a slow learner because, within 5 years of filing my first bankruptcy, I am filing for my second one. And let me tell you is not fun at all. Putting aside the humiliation factor, the process of a second bankruptcy is awful. Especially when is so soon and so close to the first one. The skepticism and the judgment from the court and your creditors are on a completely different level. The scrutiny and the invasion of personal life are on a whole different spectrum. And to be fair, I don't blame them. I am a repeat offender so I deserve it. But still is not a good position to be in. Not to mention and perhaps the important thing, you fail your loved ones one more time. In my case, I have a wonderful wife whom I call my Super Womam. And I also have 6 amazing children. And when you set seal in the journey of entrepreneurship, even though you are the captain and perhaps you are doing all the work sometimes we forget that there are a lot of other people in the boat with us. And that is that ship sinks, they will drown with you. And that is what happened to me way too many times. Even though I have 2 bankruptcies, I have had a lot of businesses in the past that failed too. Every time that I failed and lost a business, not only me but my entire family had to pay the price and the consequences of my failures. Some of those consequences have been so damaging that I still trying to repair them. It is easy to justify our behavior and our actions by saying that everything that we are doing is for our families and to better them and their future. When in reality we are doing it for us. Because we are prideful and because we want to prove something and in many cases to people that can care less about us. But that is a topic for another blog. The great thing about it is that our governmental laws created these bankruptcy laws so we have an option in case we fail. Trust me, if you can avoid going into bankruptcy please do so. But the fear of failing shouldn't t be a reason why you don't try to pursue your business dreams. Having these laws in place should be an indicator that there is a chance that you will fail. That is why they exist. A lot of other people have failed in the past. But this should not discourage you. Use this as a motivation to pursue your dreams. In the same way that so many fail, so many others succeed. It is up to us which statistics are we going to be part of. The only way that you can actually fail is when you stop trying. To me, my past failures I don't see them as failures. I see them as lessons that need to be learned in order to move to the next level. Painful, and humiliating, of course, but those lessons have made me stronger and wiser, or at least I like to believe that 😅. I am already on the books of those who failed too many times. Now I am the books of those who never give up. And soon, God willing, I will be in the books of those who succeeded. Data: Insights Into Bankruptcy Trends and Impacts Statistics show that a significant percentage of businesses that file for bankruptcy once are likely to do so again. Research from the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts indicates that about 16% of businesses that file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy are repeat filers. This suggests that the challenges leading to the first bankruptcy may not have been fully addressed or new challenges have arisen that were not anticipated (Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts, 2020). The Problem: Recurring Financial Crisis The core issue in recurring bankruptcies often lies in inadequate risk management, insufficient financial buffers, and an underestimation of market volatility. For many, the root causes of the first bankruptcy, such as high operational costs or poor strategic planning, remain unaddressed, leading to subsequent financial failures. The Solution: Building a Stronger Financial Foundation To avoid the cycle of financial distress, consider these practical steps: - Thorough Post-Bankruptcy Analysis: Conduct a comprehensive review of what led to each bankruptcy to identify and address underlying issues. - Enhanced Financial Education: Regularly update your financial knowledge and skills, focusing on cash flow management, budgeting, and forecasting. - Strategic Planning and Diversification: Diversify income streams and continuously update business plans to adapt to market changes. Implementing these strategies can help individuals and businesses not only recover from bankruptcy but also build a resilient financial future. Conclusion: Turning Adversity Into Opportunity In conclusion, experiencing bankruptcy twice can be both daunting and enlightening. It presents an opportunity to reassess, learn, and rebuild with a stronger, more informed approach. The key to turning these difficult experiences into success stories lies in proactive management and continuous learning. Read the full article

When Blessings Await: Are You Ready to Receive?
Tumblr media
Introduction "Sometimes, the blessings we pray for are already at our doorstep, but are we truly prepared to open the door?" This provocative question challenges us to reflect on our own readiness to accept the abundance that God, may have in store for us. Personal Experience: A Story of Unseen Readiness Have you ever wanted something so bad that all you do is think and pray about it all the time? I know I have. Heck, if I am honest, most of the time that I spend praying, I spend it asking God for stuff instead of thanking Him for everything that He has already done. Instead of having a conversation and listening to what He has to say, I go to Him with a to-do list of all the things that I want Him to do for me. How dare me? Not that there is nothing wrong with asking God our Father the things that we want, but I think that we are missing an important step when we ask or seek blessings. One important step that I think most of us are missing is asking ourselves; am I ready to receive and to handle the blessing that I am praying for? I don't know about you but I have prayed for a lot of stuff and like a little kid who doesn’t get what he wants when he wants it I throw a tantrum if my prayers are not answered and I don't receive the blessings that I am expecting to receive. But on very few occasions I have taken the time to ask God, why am I not receiving these blessings? Why are my prayers not being answered in these areas? And I wish I could tell you that those very few times that I asked God these questions He immediately answered and revealed to me why He was holding up those blessings but the truth is that more often than not He remained silent. Or sometimes He speaks and I just don't like what He said. Other times He speaks and I am too busy talking and asking for stuff that I can't listen to. And in a wired way that motivates me to keep digging deeper and to keep pursuing Him through reading His word and praying. And at the end of the day, that is what our Father wants. Having a closer relationship with us. I am a very persistent person. And when I want something bad enough I will get it one way or another. Nothing or no one can or will stop me if I decide to achieve something. That is one of the amazing qualities that God has blessed me with, but unfortunately, when gifts and talents are missed use they will bite you in the but. The same gifts and talents that God has blessed you with so you can fulfill your purpose in this life and fulfill your calling, can take you as far away from them as you can imagine. I believe in my core that God created me to be a business owner. There is zero doubt in my mind about that. And trust me, I am almost 40 years old and I have been doing business since I was a teenager, but I have so much more to learn. Is not like I know it all. But I do know that is easy for me to learn something new when it comes to business. That being said, I keep repeating my mistakes over and over despite the fact that I know what am I doing wrong, and what I need to do in order to fix the problem and stop making the same mistakes. I will have to write a book so I can share with you all the examples of my life that will illustrate what I just told you. But I will share with you one of the most recent ones so you can see the picture and understand it better. I had a used car dealership. And I concentrated more on the wholesale part of that business. That was a business model that I liked, it was easy and it fit my lifestyle. I invested a lot of money into the business trying to prove this concept and trying to make it work. I prayed to God so He could bless me and this business because at the time I was driving a truck and spending a lot of time away from my family. Guess what? It took some time but God did it. He blessed the business and we started seeing some money and some success coming my way. I was making enough in the business for me to step down the trucks and come home every day but I was not making enough to have the lifestyle that I wanted. So instead of asking God, why is it that I don't have more? What else do I know to learn? What areas or things in my life do I need to deal with or heal, so you can bless me more? Even better, why I didn't thank Him for what He already blessed me with? Because it was certainly more than enough. Or at least I could ask God to show me the hidden things that are in my heart and in my mind that don't please Him and help me remove them so I can be more like Jesus. No, I decided to do it my way because I couldn't wait and I thought that my way was better. Because in my eyes God was taking too long to answer my prayers. I thought that my time was now and it was better than waiting for God's timing. So within six months, I borrowed close to $750,000. I accrued debt that I should not have acquired. I bought cars I shouldn't have bought, and made financial and personal decisions that I shouldn’t have made. Within another six months, the business was crippled and destined to fail. You see, I was not ready for those types of Blessings yet. There were and perhaps are things that I need to learn and deal with that I have not addressed yet. While I was doing the business God's way and His timing and rhythm everything was fine. It was slowly but surely. I was taking slow but solid steps. And I had everything that I needed at the time. But I wanted more. I had more than enough to do what was important and spend more time with my family. But when I decided to take control of the business and remove God from the picture and do it my way is when I screw things up. I let my ambitions and my greed take control of the situation. I didn't have the discipline to slow down and to pray and ask God for wisdom. I didn't show a grateful and thankful heart. I affected dramatically not only me but also my family and those around me. All these mistakes were the beginning that led me to my second bankruptcy within 5 years. If you don't have what you want yet, perhaps you are not ready for it yet. Acquire the character, skills, knowledge, and mindset that you need. Get closer to God and ask Him for His wisdom and He will be kind enough to give it to you. He will prepare you to receive those blessings at the right time so those blessings won't crush you. Don't be afraid to ask, just be mindful of what to ask. Data: Understanding Readiness and Opportunity Research indicates that psychological readiness is a crucial factor in taking advantage of opportunities that life presents. According to a study by the University of Pennsylvania, individuals who engage in regular self-reflection and development are more likely to recognize and seize opportunities when they arise (University of Pennsylvania, 2019). Moreover, data from the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) suggests that preparedness directly influences the success rates of new business ventures, with prepared entrepreneurs 30% more likely to succeed than their unprepared counterparts (GEM, 2020). The Problem: The Illusion of Unpreparedness Many individuals and entrepreneurs often feel unready to embrace their blessings due to self-doubt, lack of resources, or fear of failure. This perceived unpreparedness can prevent them from stepping forward to claim the opportunities that are rightfully theirs. The Solution: Cultivating Readiness for Blessings Here are actionable steps to prepare oneself to receive and recognize blessings: - Self-Reflection: Regularly assess your goals and readiness to identify what is holding you back. - Skill Development: Continuously improve your skills and knowledge to match the demands of your aspirations. - Mindset Shift: Foster a mindset of abundance and readiness, believing you are deserving of success and blessings. By implementing these strategies, individuals can transform their perceived unpreparedness into proactive readiness, enabling them to embrace the opportunities that come their way fully. Conclusion: Embracing Preparedness for Life's Blessings In conclusion, being ready to receive blessings is as crucial as the blessings themselves. By fostering self-awareness, enhancing our capabilities, and shifting our mindset, we can open ourselves to the abundance that awaits us. Are you ready to open the door to your blessings? Discovering Purpose Through Adversity: Unlocking the Potential Within Struggles
Tumblr media
Introduction "Adversity isn't just a challenge to overcome—it's a cryptic guide, subtly revealing the grand design of our life's purpose." This provocative assertion challenges us to redefine our perception of struggles, not as mere obstacles but as integral, enlightening components of our journey. Personal Experience: A Story of Transformation If anybody knows about failures and struggles is me. I personally don't know anybody who has failed more times than me. And every time things don't go my way I feel that I am taking a step back. But the reality is that all my struggles have given me the strange, knowledge, and endurance to keep moving forward and to find my purpose in life. Have you ever met and or heard anybody going through something in their life, and they are acting like is the end of the world and you see it like is nothing? You feel like this person is overreacting because what they are going through is not a big deal. If you ever felt this way is highly likely you went through something similar and you have overcome it. You have developed the endurance and resistance to deal with it. And you have experienced the positive results that come when you keep moving forward. Knowing that it is possible to get out of that particular situation and that in the end, everything will be ok. And to me, every struggle, every setback, and every failure are just milestones in which life presents itself so you can discover who we are and why we are here. What we may consider negative things that happen in our lives bad things, I consider them as a training camp. Opportunities to acquire the knowledge and skills that we need in order to do the job that we were put on this earth to do. And also, to be able to receive the blessings that God has set up to give us. This will be a topic for another blog but sometimes we are not ready for the blessings that God has for us and we have to develop the heart and maturity before we can receive them. If not, the blessings can and will crush us. You see, is not a secret by now if you have been following me that I struggle a lot financially. Not for the lack of money but for the lack of making the right decisions. In other words, lack of character. And God has blessed me with a lot of opportunities. I started and grew a few businesses that have become successful. I have generated revenues of over 2 million a year in some of those businesses. And yet, I have had to go through 2 bankruptcies in the last 5 years. Not for the lack of opportunities, because of the economy, or any other outside circumstances that I can use as an excuse. Everything is because I have way too many issues that I have not dealt with yet, that are preventing me from properly managing that type of success. And because God is so merciful, every time that I felt my text, He gave me another opportunity to try it again. And if I being honest is never fun starting all over from the ground up again and again. But at this point, I have developed the resistance and endurance to keep pushing forward because I know it can done and business success and financial freedom are achievable and possible. Not only that, but because of all these setbacks, I have discovered and God has shown me my real life purpose and that is Helping The Hispanic Community with their small businesses and their finances. What a shocker, the very things that I have struggled with my entire life are what I am supposed to help others with. When God revealed my life's purpose I was excited and at the same time scared. I asked myself, who am I? I am not qualify for this. I have failed way too many times in these areas. Doubt crip into my mind and I keep delaying doing something with my purpose and calling because I thought and believed that I was not good enough to help anybody with their finances and small businesses. Instead of helping others, I decided to try to make as much money for myself as fast as I could. The problem was that the more money I made, the busier I got and the further from helping others I went. So I have been ignoring what God asked me to do. In other words, I am choosing to disobey God, walking on my own, doing whatever I want, and at the end, I always go back to the beginning, zero, because God loves me too much to leave me to live a life without Him and purpose. I had to put my pride aside and recognize that if He said do it I should do it. Because is not about my qualifications, is about His love, mercy, and grace. Is not about what people may think of me, is about how He can use my past experiences, knowledge, and stories to teach and encourage others through the Holy Spirit. Everything is about Him, not about me. I am just a vessel that He is using to deliver a message to the right person(s), at the right time. So if you have been through a lot in this life and you still standing, take a closer look at your struggles because maybe your life purpose is hiding in there. And if you feel that you are not qualified to help anybody, don't worry, God will give you the wisdom, tools, and resources to do what He has called you to do. Remember, everything is about Him and the people. If we are willing, He is able. And if He is able, you can consider it done. Data: Empirical Support for Embracing Struggle Research underscores that adversity often acts as a catalyst for personal growth and discovery. A study by the American Psychological Association reveals that individuals who encounter significant challenges frequently develop resilience, which in turn enhances their capacity to manage future stresses (American Psychological Association, 2012). Further, the concept of "post-traumatic growth" suggests that many people find new meanings in life post-adversity, which aligns with discoveries of personal and professional purposes (Tedeschi & Calhoun, 2004). The Problem: The Stigma of Struggle Often, society views struggles as failures rather than stepping stones to success. This stigma can prevent individuals from fully embracing their potential learning experiences, leading to missed opportunities for growth. The Solution: A New Perspective on Adversity The key to transforming adversity into opportunity lies in shifting our mindset. Here are practical steps to begin this transformation: - Reframe Challenges: View each challenge as a question asking you to find its hidden lesson. - Seek Support: Leverage community resources, mentors, and networks to navigate through tough times. - Continuous Learning: Invest in personal and professional development to adapt and grow from each experience. By integrating these strategies, individuals and businesses can not only survive but emerge stronger and more purpose-driven from the trials they face. Conclusion: The Synthesis of Struggle and Success In conclusion, our greatest trials are not mere barriers but are, in fact, the very vehicles that ferry us toward our life’s most profound purposes. By embracing our struggles, we unlock potentials within ourselves we never knew existed, leading to discoveries that resonate not only with our personal aspirations but also with broader societal needs.
