Introduction to Scuba Diving
Tumblr media
Late post: this was taken on May 12, 2018
This dive was in Anilao, Batangas. Thank you ate zhe and ate charm for your accompany and hospitality. I paid 3,400 pesos gears and food are included. The sad about our dive is that we should have studied free diving instead of scuba diving because it’s much cheaper to free dive than to scuba dive in our sampling sites. But, nevertheless the whole trip was amazing!
Pictures were taken using: Olympus TG-4 and GoPro hero 4 silver.
I dived with my thesis partner, Kim. There is nothing more relaxing and amazing seeing these creatures below. The jack of fishes is rarely seen and we were lucky to see them

Thesis sampling
Tumblr media
This is me getting seaweeds for our thesis in Batangas. I started skin diving since March mainly because of our thesis. I’m not yet licensed cos it’s to expensive (youtube is the way hahaha).
That feeling when your thesis is also a getaway from stress 😌. Although our sampling is really tiring because we trek for hours, but the view or sight that we see on our way is just breath taking. The two pictures below was taken during our 4 hour trek.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The picture below is a critically endangered plant called Philippine teak or Tectona philippinensis. It is an endemic plant in the Philippines, meaning that it can only be seen in the Philippines. They are critically endangered due to logging.

Blue and brown

This is a basic outfit that you can wear to school. A simple polo, pants and pair of sneakers is okay to go without consuming to much time.

What I’m wearing: short sleeve polo (h&m), khaki pants (bench), white sneakers (converse)

Free Microsoft Word from PUP
Tumblr media
Hey guys! I probably think, that not all of you know that we have a free legit Microsoft Office 365 from school, and yes! we have one. You can use it on your laptops, desktops, phones, and tablets.
I just discovered this while i was exploring our school website. Our school is associated with Microsoft, wherein we can get a legit Microsoft for free! All you have to do to avail is to create your school email.  I don’t know if this process applies to all PUP campus but I know all students ( even OU students and SHS)  from PUP can create a school email and have a free Microsoft 365 and you can sign in to multiple devices. I also think that with this email you’ll never pay for Microsoft Office License annauly. Now below is the steps on how to create your school email
Tumblr media
Reminder:  Remember to bring your school ID or Registration card or anything that certifies that you study there as long as your name and student number is attached.
The moment you enter inside the ICTO, you can just simply say “papagawa po ng school email”. After saying that they will ask you name, student number and school ID or “Regicard”.  If you are going download Microsoft 365 here is the link : https://products.office.com/en-us/student
When that is finished you’re already set! All you have to do after downloading it, is just sign in with your school email. If you have a fake one that is waiting for you to activate it, you can simply sign in with your school email. With your school email you can now sign in with your phone or tablets and use everything for free. Having a school email is very helpful and useful, because you have lot of free access such as Researchgate ( https://www.researchgate.net ), which is a very helpful website for me as a college of Science student. Sciencedirect and Wiley can be accessed using school email. They have free autocad and other free softwares (http://www.autodesk.com/education/free-software/all).  I hope this post helped all of my fellow isko students!

Hi Everyone! Since most of us will be starting our thesis, I want to share this information that i found in the school website.
This post is to inform and educate all the students in PUP or Polytechnic University of the Philippines who will be conducting their thesis. This Manual is for us to follow and inform ourselves on what should be included in our thesis. Let’s try to minimise asking all the questions to our friends or professor on what to do.The Parts and Format of the thesis is here. Proposal Acceptance and Approval Form is also here although I don’t know yet where to get it. I’ll update you guys when i know it.

Native Plants 101 exhibit
Tumblr media
For the year 2017 with the direction of Ms. Mae Salvador, she conducted Native Plants 101 Exhibit. The aim of this exhibit was to show and educate people about Philippine native flora with a quote of “Lifting the Veil of Plant Blindness” (Salvador 2017). After 3 days of hardwork and a month of planning everything was put in to place. All of these plants seen here are recycled and minimized to a cost of 1000 per station.

Tech committee buddies.
Tumblr media
Eucalyptus deglupta also known as your rainbow tree a Philippine native plant. This was made out of old newspaper and chicken wire.
Tumblr media
This Rafflesia is one of my favorite plant because it looks so beautiful even though it smells like a dying corpse. It is also Philippine Native plant. This is made out of old rubber mat.
Tumblr media
Pistia stratiotes or water cabbage and Eichhornia or Water Hyacinth. These plants commonly seen in the Pasig river. A plant is called an when it is not naturally occurring in a given ecosystem.

Our beautiful docents from alien plants and Africana plants.

Philippine Native plants
Tumblr media
Asian plants.
Tumblr media
My favorite plant during the exhibitttt the Giant sequoia from Plant Americana which was made out of cardboard and newspapers.
Tumblr media
There was a photo booth after the exhibit. me and my 1st year buddies.
This exhibit hit me hard because of the effort of making this happen. I met a lot of people in our department that I never knew existed (lol). Before I used to walk at the hallway just to go to my classroom. Now every time I walk, I see them and we exchange smiles, raise our eyebrows or sometimes greet good morning or asking how are they doing, which is a great thing! Sometimes we say to each other “uy good luck sa exam sa syste” “uy kailan exam niyo sa syste?” things like that hahaha. Another good thing about this is you get to know and see greatness of each other. All of the three sections of third year really helped each other and united. It warms my heart that for once we became one. This event was not only an opportunity to meet new people but to be reconnected with the old ones. I missed my first year friends, it was a great time to catch up with them, knowing that we all have busy schedules and many things to do. The most important thing here is that I would really like to thank our namberwan Systematic Botany professor Mae Salvador who unconditionally loved us 24/7 and thought me life lessons besides plants. Maam without you my college life is boring. Despite all our efforts with the exhibit, we still had an exam which okay lang naman because I’m genuinely happy with the exhibit and to you have you as my professor.

My PUPCET story
Tumblr media
PUPCET is incoming and i would like to share everyone my experience in picking my course and school. para to sa mga potenial.
Well to start, I really wanted to be a doctor since I was a chlld. My mom vividly remember and tells me all the time how i used to love playing with my lola’s things. My lola’s job was midwifery and his husband was a General Surgeon. One day my tita and tito influenced me how wealthy and successful geologists are, and how scarce are people taking it, in which came into my mind to take that course because I love going outside everyday and I also love science.
PUP wasn’t really my first choice. It was UP and unfortunately my dream going to study there was just a dream, I took BS Geology there and European languages e sa kasong wala talaga. Second school was MAPUA took BS Geology and passed and Lastly was PUP. I remember it clearly, that I took the 2015 PUPCET on November, because while I was taking my exam it was my father’s wake. The exam was surprisingly easy, which tells you that there is nothing for you to worry about.  I took Banking and Finance as my first course and BS Biology as my second choice.
I slept at my tita’s apartment at katips, so it would be easy for me to go there rather than riding the PNR which is 1-2 hr commute. woke up early in the morning, they cooked me breakfast as if it was like a normal day. I was not nervous about the exam because my mom wanted me to study the just because one it’s cheap and second it’s famous. My sister once enrolled at PUP my mom was very amazed with her tuition fee but sadly my sister really did not want to pursue business ad but she really wanted to study pharmacy, in which comes to a conclusion of my Mom wanting me to also study there. After eating our breakfast drank a glass of milk. Rode the LRT then pedicab, before we didn’t really knew that there was a tricycle near the LRT2 which was way cheaper and faster. They dropped me of at the pylon and I can see a sea of people. I said “ate bren ang daming tao :( kaya ko ba to?” she replied “oo kaya mo yan wag kang kabahan”. I entered the school trying to figure out where was to room I would answer the exam, which I easily found it. Our proctor was so chill and careless, I even used my cellphone while taking the exam. I got used to answer exams very fast because I was trained to answer fast so I would not run of time. The exam compromised all subjects English, Math, Science, MAPEH, History and Filipino. I finished my exam with 1 hour to spare. When the time’s up I can still see people rushing to answer all the unanswered questions. May nagmumura na nga e sa sobrang taranta. After the exam was done we went down the building using the dome not the stairs which was very new to me walang ganon samin e. While I was walking I got sad because I took the exam by myself I don’t have no one to talk with. I don’t feel like making friends back then. My tito and tito went home and I have to text them, because there were many people waiting. While I was walking on the way to the pylon ANG DAMI TALAGA TAO PRAMIS I got super frustrated it was like pista ng Nazareno ganon kadami. I was waiting for my tita and tito at the pylon and I can see people hugging their parents telling them it was so difficult, saying “ ma, sorry kung hindi ako makapasa”. I saw many different reactions and makes me wonder “lah bat sakin wala lang to”.  when my tita arrived she asked “ how was the exam?” I answered “ok lang” she replied “sige good job uwi na tayo”. We walked on the way to LRT2 Pureza because there were no pedicabs and tricycles to ride anymore. We walked by CEA and COC and made me realized that the school is not bad at all. I love my school, I love my professors. The best thing here is that I go to school early in the morning and go home late at night knowing that all those time I spent in school was pure happiness and learning.
To wrap it up taking the PUPCET was a great experience and studying here is not bad at all. The only hindrance here is the scarcity of the materials and professors. pa onti na ng pa onti magagaling na professors sa bio dept. I don’t know if there will be a new set next year.
If you passed the exam be thankful because a lot of people want to study at PUP. There was this one moment, that I always recall whenever I doubt at this school. The whole family was waiting for her, the moment she arrived they welcomed her with a big family hug, rejoiced and cried asking how was the exam knowing that she was the only hope of her family in this world full of poverty “ikaw mag aangat ng buhay natin anak pag pumasa ka”. I don’t know where she is now but I hope she passed and making her parents dreams come true.
GOOD LUCK TO ALL PUPCET TAKERS

one last push
It’s 11:19 pm and I just got home from school. Never liked the idea of class suspensions, because it’s the reason why we are trying to accomplish everything within this week. It’s been almost two weeks, I arrive at home with this kind of time. Well a lot has happened for a span of a week. I am sleep deprived, exhausted, drained and struggling to finish our SP (special project) on Microbiology. Tomorrow’s schedule: I have to play volleyball at my high school 8am (alumni vs. varsity) and get the results of our SP at school. Most likely I’m not gonna play anymore cause i want to sleep and wake up late afternoon, so it’s chill day tomorrow! compared for the past few days.
I’ve been multitasking for the past few days, and I accomplished our Promotional Video Presentation in Tech write, did our props for Plant Natives 101 Exhibit, Review paper on Microbio about Lichens and SP for five days. It may look easy but it’s not because all of those task are done by group and all of the groups are also multi tasking plus of all those task are required to be finished in a week no extensions and consideration of late works. Every morning we think “paano ko kaya hahatiin ko sarili ko?” hayy that’s it for tonight. I’m going to rest. sabi pa kasi ng prof ko mag eexam pa kami ng monday sabi ko naman bat hindi pa tayo mag undas dito sa school?

It’s PUP’s foundation day. We were walking at the catwalk and saw the booths near the Open court. sabi ko “chai pa henna tayo” and she looked for designs on what she would want, and so I told her “eto gusto ko o  THIS WAY! joke”  she answered “sus jay di mo kaya yan weak ka! pa henna ka nga niyan ako mag babayad sige” *CHALLENGED ACCEPETED* sa totoo lang wala talaga akong inuurungan na hamon kasi mapride ako tsaka si kim. At first the lady won’t believe that i chose that design and thought that I was joking she even said “ Ay! loko kang bata ka” sabi ko “ ate di ako nag bibiro, mag babayad kami”. Got the henna but didn’t like it, because the the tattoo artist rushed it, which resulted to very far from the picture :( The tattoo was useful, because everytime that i would point something or tell them were to go, I use my henna hahaha
