What is THC and What does it Do?
THC is the active ingredient in marijuana. It's the compound that causes a high when you smoke weed or eat it. THC affects the brain and central nervous system. It's also known to affect other parts of the body, such as the immune system, inflammation and pain receptors.
THC is fat soluble, so it stays in your body longer than other cannabinoids like CBD and CBG. This means that it can be detected for weeks or even months after use.
It is a cannabinoid, meaning it's found naturally in the marijuana plant and interacts with our endocannabinoid system (ECS). When we inhale marijuana, THC enters our lungs and goes to work immediately.
What does THC do?
THC has been called the "gateway drug" because it can initiate the use of other drugs, such as cocaine, heroin and alcohol. But there's more to it than that. Marijuana also affects your mood and cognition in a way that could be beneficial for some people.

Forms of THC
So, kas yra thc? Well, we can define it by identifying the two forms of THC:
Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC)
Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol is the most abundant form of THC in cannabis plants and products, including marijuana and hemp.
Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol is found in all parts of the plant, but it is concentrated at higher levels in the resin glands. The most common cannabinoids, such as THC, CBD, CBG and CBN, are also present in varying concentrations.
"Delta" refers to the double bond between carbon atoms at the end of this molecule. "9" refers to how many carbons are bonded together on this molecule. "Tetrahydrocannabinol" is an abbreviation for tetra hydro cannabinol. This means four hydrogens attached to one carbon atom.
Cannabidiol (CBD)
Cannabidiol is a non-intoxicating cannabinoid found in hemp seeds, cannabis flowers and leaves from hemp plants. It has been found to have a wide range of therapeutic benefits, including anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and neuroprotective properties. CBD is also known to help treat depression, anxiety, multiple sclerosis and chronic pain.
Its anti-inflammatory properties can make it help with pain relief. In addition, CBD does not produce a high, making it an appealing option for people who want to avoid the buzz but still get relief from pain or anxiety.
There are two main types of cannabinoids: phytocannabinoids and endocannabinoids. Phytocannabinoids are derived from plants; they're not psychoactive like THC but they still have medical uses. The two main phytocannabinoids are CBD (cannabidiol) and CBG (cannabigerol). Endocannabinoids help regulate pain, hunger and moods by interacting with your ECS receptors on nerve cells throughout your body.
