I got to spend most of the day Friday with two of my favorite ladies @nataliafabia and peribeau. 🍐 picked out a bunch of fabrics and we worked on designing a few outfits for her. Dresses,masks and matching leggings plus extra leggings. I taught her about pattern samples and why the back of a garment has two notches,what types of materials we could use for our project and what the different machines we were using to sew her garments did. She loves long dresses and leggings so that's what we made. I'm pretty sure she would have kept me sewing the whole night. We ended up with two dresses and five leggings so that's pretty good for one visit. Sewing stuff for kids is fun! This was my main project for the week, I made #SFFD #SFPD hand printed, cut, sewn, and packed (obviously) little production. Since I had room on my screens I added #LAFD & #LAPD and made My local fire house 9 a package plus a package of plain basic masks for back up, as well as Central division my local Police station. This morning I went to mail parcels and drop off my little productions at my local stations. I am now able to concentrate on sewing apparel and cleaning my studio after over a month of 15+ hour days sewing masks while taking my classes online, Im still sewing masks but feel like all the productions for love and service I have gotten through and feel pretty good about that. Also Im exhausted. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Side note I did not pull any of this production aside, Im not selling these masks. If you are Fire or Police in SF I can direct you to House & Station these are at. Thank you first responders, hard workers, and all of you responsible people who are suffering through this time for the good of the masses. Im going to now make mimosas and work on illustrations while listening to all my favorite 45s because its that kind of a day. One of my all-time favorite things to do is packaging design and branding. So when this whole world shut down started , since I had a little bit of time I designed a bunch of new labels, hang tags, and hang tag strings. Oh, also stickers for the outside packaging. I'm most excited about the hang tag strings. Because it's the very little details that really matter most, to me anyway. All of these things arrived today just in time because I had run out of most of my labels. I'm really excited to get back to sewing garments and happy that I have labels for all my face masks. I hope you all are doing well today, I know each day is a struggle for a lot of you and for me as well. I generally cope with difficult situations by keeping myself busy doing whatever I can creatively. Wishing everybody well and lots of love on a extremely hot day in southern California. Plague fashion... day whatever it is. Purple flocked black velvet rose facemask in mens and womens sizes. Today i'll be in my studio trying to clean up the giant mess I've made after two weeks of sewing crazy hours. Also catching up on all my cut and sew projects I had to set aside for mask making. All I've done the past four days is sew 12 hours a day,then go straight home obviously. I wish I had my usual access to my studio building I'd make it 15 hours. I hope everyone is staying safe.
