“It broke,” he says flatly, lying. If she wants to figure out how it’s doing, she can do so with her usual skillset. Conversations like these usually ended early, and on Doon-ju’s account. But she’s no stranger to his steely answers and sifting past his stoniness, especially since he’s more than tolerated it in the past. It’s strange reviving this familiarity in the 21st century, but at least it tells him to close conversation before she tries to finish it sometime else on her own terms.
Though Ji-won’s employment status surprises him, he doesn’t show it. Instead, he raises his brows, looking simultaneously neutral and derisive. “What, as a cover for grand larceny? Smart.”
SHE CAN’T HELP BUT roll her eyes once more . does anyone ever catch doon-ju in a good mood ? or is he hellbent on maintaining this loner facade ? what are the odds that the two of them were living in the same city ? granted , he was probably living somewhere plush in manhattan because it’s clear this city favors vampires . she could look into it –– no . no . she doesn’t do that anymore . light breaking and entering ? jiwon hasn’t done that in years .
“ you have such a way with words , doon-ju . funny too , ” she sarcastically quips . “ but no . i have an actual job . i’m a video game developer . even went to school for it . ”

Cedric fake laughed at the other for sarcastic affect at Ji-won’s joke before smiling, immediately letting it slide off as teasing was their main form of love sometimes. “I’m not pissed off at them, I’m just honestly trying to vibe you know, keep the vibe in here right until we have like security and the performers show up because otherwise what the hell.” they mentioned before actually laughing lightly. “I am european technically…. whales was europe for a long while. Don’t remind me of brexit man.”
SHE DOESN’T BOTHER HIDING HER AMUSEMENT . “ small talk must be the absolute WORST for you , ” ji-won comments with a light chuckle . “ but i get that . not to rub it in or anything but i am a little glad i don’t have a job that deals with drunk people . video game testers are something else but i’m not personally dealing with them , ” she laughs . “ okay y’know what ? fair . does that mean i’m european because i did live in london for some time ? ”

aiyana give a small smile towards the barista as they handed her back her change. the only thing she had been craving was the toasted almond latte from this particular coffee shop for some reason. she put back in her air-pods, only to immediately take them out when she heard the familiar static like voices. unsure if it had to do with her … banshee senses or if someone had actually said something. “ - did you say something?” saying out loud to the person next to her, eyes flickering around quizzically.
EYES ZERO IN ON the fallen object near the other woman . furrowing her brows , ji-won makes her way over to pick it up . “ hey –– ” calls out to the other . “ are these –– ” pauses when she spots the airpods . she takes a step closer and taps her shoulder lightly . “ totally don’t mean to bother , ” offers a polite smile . “ but i think you dropped this ? ” holds the object in question up . “ it looked important . ”

It brought a sense of sadness, she was familiar with passing, and deep down it scared her. But she put on a brave face, looking down at her schedule, she written a name down. Looking up she saw someone “Hi, can I help you?”
SHE’S AWARE THAT THERE are some that are still grieving the death of a fashion icon . ji-won didn’t know all that well and has really only spoken to her in passing . either way , life goes on and she technically had a celebration planned for the lunar new year . which is what brings her to the distillery . “ hi , ” smiles politely at the other woman . “ actually yeah , you guys do personalizations , right ? ”

While the Oak Ash Cemetery was something of a haven for Fitzwilliam, the fact of the matter was that the place could start to feel an awful lot like a prison sometimes. It was during these times, that the eternally young man would take to just wandering around the streets of New York, without a destination in mind. He had watched the city change a lot over the past hundred years, and it was easy to become melancholy when he found himself reflected on how through all of that change, he had pretty much stayed exactly the same. “Hey excuse me. Can I ask you something?” He said, stopping someone who was walking in the opposite direction on the sidewalk. “This is going to seem like a very strange question, but have you ever taken a moment to look at the world around you, and realized that you hardly recognize anything about it? And then wondered how that could have happened in the short time since you last looked around at the world?”
WALKS AROUND THE STREETS of manhattan weren’t all too uncommon for ji-won . staten island feels like a prison to her with every passing day . if she had it her way , she’d be living comfortably in manhattan . the last time she found herself in new york , it was in the middle of the supernatural war . unwilling to be around so much violence and chaos , she left . with her earbuds in , she continues ambling down the street . the fox stops , pausing her music and turns to face the other . “ are you going through like ... an existential crisis ? ” she can’t help but ask . although , she does ponder on his question . she’s been alive for over 700 years and she’s seen so much . the rise and fall of empires . towns turning into cities . cities modernizing . “ but yeah i guess in a sense . and then it just spirals into this whole , your existence in this universe is only temporary . ” how ironic for ji-won . “ and you’re just a speck of dust in the grand scheme of things . ”

DOON-JU .
Doon-ju was so close to feeling a swath of the city’s polluted air. But before he finally resigns himself to that dingy fate, he knows he’s caught. Despite it being centuries, he’ll probably never forget her voice. It was a voice accompanied with the theft of his wares, and one that he’s heard numerous times over his expansive lifespan.
He would’ve been a little glad to see her if his humanity switch wasn’t half-toggled — though he also would never admit anything of the sort. But at his current state, he’s not the same man as he was before. People who’ve met him only in the last century would just chalk him up as an asshole. Although that’s a factual reputation that he’s sustained over his expansive lifespan, he’s not thrilled to hash out the yo-yo-like changes to his character development to someone who knew him when he was hundreds of years less mature. Even if they did meet when he was at his most brutal.
Finally, he sighs and turns, not betraying even a hint of surprise. There’d be no point anyway. His eyes dart around her get-up now that he has a closer view. At least he’ll never miss that hair from a mile away. “Acquaintance? You mean the reason why I have property insurance?”
JI-WON WOULDN’T BE SURPRISED if doon-ju ignored her and left . it seemed very in character for him to do so ! and quite frankly , she’s convinced the vampire holds a dislike towards everyone . maybe that’s why he’s always alone . or at least all the times she encounters him . and yet , doon-ju’s attitude never really bothered her . it’s actually amusing in her opinion .
“ you say that as if i didn’t return it , ” rolls her eyes dramatically . technically , it was deemed worthless but still . she had the decency to return it . “ i promise you those days are behind me . i have a legit job and everything . ” let’s not talk about the stolen artwork that’s currently residing in her safe house . “ how is that little piece of art doing , anyways ? ”

SHE’S DEFINITELY GOTTEN THE schedule mixed up . ji-won showed up to the flame with the intention of bothering cedric while he’s working . but that didn’t end up being the case . however , she’s here now so it doesn’t hurt to grab a drink or two . seating herself by the bar , she scans the menu . “ i’ll take a strawberry mojito . and i gotta ask , what’s your opinion on the truffle fries ? ”
