Portrait exhibition celebrating 100 years since the first woman was elected into the UK parliament.

#209 Women  Exhibition

Delighted to have been invited to be part of this landmark 100th anniversary of the first woman being elected to take a seat in parliament. Particularly thrilled and honoured to have as my sitter the current Minister for Women - Victoria Atkins MP (for Louth & Horncastle) and also currently Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Crime, Safeguarding and Vulnerability.

"On 14 December 1918 women voted for the first time, and the first woman was elected into parliament. 100 years on this collaborative project marks that significant moment in history. 209 portraits of ALL of the female MPs will be created by 209 female photographic artists/photographers. 2018 marks a fundamental chapter for women, equality, and progress. This project is not only a visual representation of that progress, it also documents and explores the identity of our female representation within the House of Commons". Hilary Wood

The exhibition will be held in the Palace of Westminster from 14th December 2018 to February 2019. The entire contemporary arts collection at the Palace of Westminster will be taken down to accommodate '209 Women,'

Great to be invited by the National Theatre to be a mentor for one of their selected students -Ruby David-Pimlott for this educational project and exhibition. We had an interesting time having an all access pass to all parts of the NT for the various shoots. A big thanks to our accomplished sitters:-  Actors: Zoe Wanamaker, Adrian Scarborough and Gawn Grainger.  Also Indhu Rubasingham - Artistic Director of Kiln Theatre and James Graham - Playwright. It is a free exhibition and runs until October 13th 2018.
