Willow Park - Alexandra Angele
Tumblr media
(Photo curtosey of alexandraangelemusic.com)
Alexandra Angele is an indie musician from Hunterdon County, NJ currently residing in Miami and is a good friend of mine. I use to catch her playing shows at the Beacher’s Community Stage at Karla’s in New Hope, PA. She is a talented singer and song writer who’s beautiful voice gives a sense of warmth to any listeners. She studied at  Interlochen Arts Academy High School and then at the Frost Music School at The University of Miami.
Earlier this month she released her new EP Willow Park. This EP features her amazing vocal skills and talented song writing skills. It has a very surreal and jazzy sound. Truly is a unique indie sound that she has established.
When asked what this album means to her, Alexandra said:
“The album itself was a collection of songs I wrote over the course of the last two years. It means a fresh start I guess. I've been so into writing music and moving on from one song to the next that when I finally put down some tracks (with Austen Beckman and John Nichols) I had to really think about what songs encompass who I am as an artist, and as a person. Each song represents a part of my life that I thought was important to share. Whether it was a love lost or an absolutely crazy day in NYC, the stories that went into them were catalysts in my life that got me to the place I am at, and I couldn't be more proud of the EPs way of telling that story.”

Visit Alexandra Angele’s website to learn more about her music and Willow Park. The EP is available on Spotify, Itunes, and most other main music streaming services.

Week Day Workouts #2
Your work week is already more than half way through. We gotta coast our way through Thursday and Friday to make it to the weekend. That doesn’t mean slacking off in the gym. Keep working to the weekend with these jams.
1. Summers in PA - The Wonder Years
Tumblr media
A fast pace feel good song that shows off the best of what 2010s punk has to offer.
2. Anchor Down - Real Friends
Tumblr media
Another fast pace modern and angry punk song. Perfect song if you’re working out to try to convince yourself you’re better without him/her.
3. Stay Vicious - The Gaslight Anthem
Tumblr media
If you’re like me, when you’re working out you want something that’ll make yourself vicious enough to push some heavy weight. This song is perfect for that.
4. Losing Teeth - The Scandals
Tumblr media
Fast pace punk rock to get you moving that weight fast. See how loud your headphones can blast your eardrums with this.
5. West Virginia - The Front Bottoms
Tumblr media
(Skip the first minute then) You have a great punk rock song to continue to prove to yourself you don’t need her/him.

Webster Hall To Close Down
Tumblr media
(Photo from  Eden, Janine and Jim on Flickr)
The famous Webster Hall will be closing its door on August 5, 2017.
If you grew up as a music fan near New York city then you must be familiar with this iconic venue. Whether I was seeing my favorite artists or sneaking into 90s Nights in the summer to buy half priced drinking with my fake ID, I have some very fond memories of this venue. In 2016 it was reported by Pollstar Magazine to be the #1 selling club in New York and #3 in the World.
As of this May, Webster Hall was bought by Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment. They recently announced they will be closing down the doors of Webster Hall for two years of renovations and reopen in 2020 as Spectrum Hall. They reported that it will no longer be open as a club but will host concerts and sporting events.
The current Gerard McN, the current Director of Operations for Webster Hall said in a Facebook post:
“Sad but true, the legendary and world-famous Webster Hall has been sold and will close as we know it for its final club night on Saturday August 5th, 2017, which just so happens to be my birthday, which is certainly somehow apropos. It will be closed for an undisclosed period of time for demo, reno and transition to corporate ownership under Barclays/AEG/Bowery Presents. I highly recommend that you all stop by before the end of this era to pay your respects to the Ballingers and the building for providing us with a lifetimes worth of memories. There are only 12 club nights left. Please come celebrate our rich 25 year history of being the biggest, baddest and longest running nightclub in the history of New York City.”
After over 130 years this will be the end of the beloved club. If you have never made it out to the East Village to visit, I highly suggest you take the time this summer to catch a show or a club night. Although the final club night is August 5th the last show is Maratek’s record release show on August 9th. See the full schedule for Webster Hall here.

Echosmith New Single Coming This Week
Tumblr media
Echosmith announced a new single titled “Goodbye” will be released this Friday. Hopefully this is not a goodbye but a hello from a band we’ve been waiting to hear new music from for a while.
The band has a great sound and were amazing live when I saw them back in 2015. Since then I’ve also secretly fallen in love with Sydney Sierota but I mean who could blame me when she’s beautiful and has an even more beautiful voice. Anyways expect to see a review on Friday of this single. We’re hoping for the best.

Week Day Workouts #1
Okay so it’s now mid July which means if you don’t get that summer bod soon, you won’t have a summer bod for the summer. So time to use that gym membership you signed up for back in January which you stopped using as soon as your Christmas lights we down. But of course everyone knows that you can’t work out without a killer playlist to get that blood pumping. So plug in your headphones and listen to these when you’re hitting the gym this week...
1. Six Pack - Black Flag
Tumblr media
Okay so you wanna work on your six pack abs right? Well this song is about beer but still a great song for your work out
2. Last Caress - Misfits
Tumblr media
A song about killing babies and raping your mother? Perfect for getting in that lifting grind
3. It’s Not the Heat it’s the Humanity - The Bouncing Souls
Tumblr media
Boy this heat is killing. Okay so it is July so the heat is pretty hot but not as hot as you’ll be after hitting the gym
4. Justified Black Eye - No Use for a Name
Tumblr media
A great fast pace work out song. Work off that belly that the guy on the album cover has.
5. I Wanna Be Sedated - The Ramones
Tumblr media
Nothing to do? Nowhere to go? Go to the gym and listen to this song. If you’re not already listening to The Ramones during your work out then what are you doing?
Okay so that’s the start of your workday work out. Get out there and make the most of this Monday

Brian Fallon recording second solo album
Tumblr media
(Photo from @thebrianfallon on instagram)
If you’re like me, you were pretty upset when The Gaslight Anthem announced a hiatus after the tour following the release of their album Get Hurt. Lead singer went on to record a solo album titled Painkillers which was fantastic. After spending 2016 touring Brian Fallon is now back in studio recording his second solo album.
On his instagram, Fallon has been updating us all with his process recording. He is in New Orleans recording with Ted Hutt, a talented producer who has done work with The Gaslight Anthem, Flogging Molly, Dropkick Murphys, the Bouncing Souls, and many more. Brain Fallon says to expect a 60′s  R&B/Soul vibe. He has also hinted to less acoustic guitar sound that was heavily prevalent in his first record.
We’re excited to see what Brian Fallon will be giving us.

Lucky Seven
Tumblr media
Lucky Seven - The Scandals
Let me first say if you’re from New Jersey and are not a fan of the Scandals then you are missing out. Their EP Lucky Seven came out this Spring and I highly recommend it.
The Scandals are a punk rock band from Bayonne, NJ. A very talented group with a great New Jersey rock sound. Lead singer and guitarist Jared Hart was touring with Brian Fallon of the Gaslight Anthem who has a great solo album too. An excellent band too see live who are always energetic. I’ve had the pleasure of seeing them a few times and they always put on a great show. I’d like to note that my friend Paul lent bassist Sean Carney a belt during the middle of their set and he still wants to get it back.
The single Lucky 7′s came out last summer and fan have been eagerly waiting for more since and The Scandals did not let down. The EP is filled with upbeat punk rock sounds that’s catchy and you won’t get enough of. Can’t wait to see these new songs performed live soon. The only downside is its run time of 15 minutes but its a great 15 minutes that I enjoyed every second of. Definitely check out this EP.
The Scandals will be performing in Philadelphia on July 30. Highly recommend trying to catch this show

This is an independent project of mine where I will attempt to recommend music, shows, and bring you news on music in New Jersey. Although Punk is in the name and will be the primary focus of the music we cover, we also hope to bring other genres of music to people as we hope to not limit ourselves in what we hope to bring to the table.
As we grow, we hope to open you up to the music scene in New Jersey as best as we can.
Stay Cool, Stay Punk.
