A military man, he has sleeve badges for Sergeant Instructor of Musketry, and Royal Artillery collar badges. The medals are the Indian Mutiny 1857, and the Army Long Service and Good Conduct medal. A photo taken around 1875. Number 13844. There was a permanent British Army garrison on Jersey to protect the Island from the French, although that threat became less and less as the Victorian period went on.
