“Why? It’s not your turn.” I try to reach across him to grab it and it results in him holding it further away. I step closer and stand on tiptoes and tip forward too much, crashing into him. Luca catches me without looking the least off balance. We stand there, crushed against each other by my clumsiness. Our faces are close and there’s something in his eyes that I saw the other day on the cliff top. My heart races. Will he lean closer?

No. He grabs my shoulders and gently pushes me to arm’s length, turning away.

I turn away too, embarrassed, confused, frustrated. I give in. If he isn’t even going to be my friend like before, then I’ve already lost him. What do I have left to lose? “Either tell me why,” I say, my voice soft. “Or let’s pretend we never kissed in the first place because whatever this is now”—I gesture between the two of us—“is suffocating. I can’t do this. Not now. Not with everything.” I trail off, feeling my heart race, feeling panic at the edges of my being. I close my eyes and wait.

it's normal to have days in which you doubt the things you write, that doesn't mean you're a bad writer

it's ok to ask for feedback

Laptop is in the shop so I had to dig through old files. I hoped for a better snippet but this will do.

"Take Beznik and Yanik. Neither are good for manual labor but both are skilled fighters."

Their names triggered Seth to shudder, most of Voda’s men appreciated his skills in medicine but not the newest recruits from Cydor. Beznik and Yanik were mageless humans descended from the Travellers, those who crossed worlds before the gates were destroyed. They despised the Sterling mages, identified by their unique violet eyes and pale hair, for their treatment of those with weaker magic or none at all. Seth was a top tier Sterling Mage but abandoned his heritage to pursue medicine when he was fifteen and lived as a nomad ever since though wherever he went fearful eyes followed him. Usually an explanation by Voda was enough to ease the minds of others but some refused to bend, those like Beznik and Yanik. They wanted nothing to do with any Sterlings or their Mages. “Please. Not those two slugs. Neither will obey my orders.”

Eyes

Iom’ren turned his head to look at Grilled. Those eyes. In the ringslight, Iom’ren’s eyes and Noklopan facial jewels shone like stars. Aloutia’s stars, pink and pure, the essence of goodness. The starlight which everyone wished would glitter upon each other’s paths. Yet those eyes held nothing but pain. Sorrow. A tear fell down his cheek, diverted by the jewels, and fell upon the fresh snow at the same moment a drop of blood fell from the quillon. Grilled wanted to say something—anything—but what does one say to a soul bearing such powerful, striking eyes?

Finished with my first android tablet image. It's a bit to get used to but I think it worked for this piece. I'll be able to do more detailed pieces when I have my computer back.

My laptop is out of commission for a while so I'm learning to use my tablet instead. This was one of my first attempts.

I suggest that we start using the term ‘creatives’ instead of ‘content creators’ for authors/artists/gifmakers/podficcers for a few reasons, and chief among them are these;

we can’t always be our most productive, but there’s a terrible trend of fandom folks feeling bad if they don’t have something new to post every few weeks

you’re still a creative person even if you aren’t creating something at a given time, for whatever reason

and something it’s taken me far too long to learn myself: making things is not the rent you pay to be part of a community

When you’re doubting yourself and your abilities as a writer, I hope you recognize just how far you’ve come already. Recognize the progress you’ve made. Recognize the skills you’ve developed and the fact that you have achieved what others might only dream of doing simply by putting words on the page. 

No matter where you are in your writing journey - whether you’re a brand new beginner or a hardened veteran with years of creation under your belt - you have come a long way and you have done so much.

Be proud of yourself for that. 💜

I just finished reading The Luminaries by Susan Dennard and I almost never really care about drawing fan art but there's like 4 or 5 scenes I want to capture from this book. This is an awkward one (honestly they're all kind of awkward scenes XD) of Winnie and Jay in her kitchen. I just loved the idea of it, the awkward tension, everything.

Update on progress. I'm going with another watercolor look for this piece. Not sure what to do for the background yet. Maybe a forest?

New WIP. This is Jezmine and Voda when they were younger. I felt inspired to draw a full kiss. Of course Jezmine was the one to act first.😉
