Ever wonder if Bella letting Alice run all over her is because Alice reminds her of Renee?

I don't know where I'm going with this— maybe her pouty compliance just stems from a subconscious fear of feeling abandoned again, combined with a personality that is easygoing and happy to make others happy. But I also wonder if some of those patterns she had with Renee are repeating themselves. I'm thinking more of Renee's fun, scattered, zany enthusiasm than the neglect... So maybe she's subconsciously seeing Alice as an idealized version of Renee?

I dunno, I just think it would be neat if Esme could be the one to gently bring it up and encourage her to be herself, and of course her friendship with Alice would be better in the long run if she learns that boundaries are OK to have. And then Alice can talk seriously for a minute about how lonely she's felt over the years without a BFF and that's why she projected a century's worth of human fun onto her shiny new toy. She's a scary fairy of an extrovert-friend but I like to think she could adjust if Bella ever wanted to have a real talk about it.

If twilight was released from Charlie’s perspective what would you think Charlie’s thoughts are

I wouldn't trust Smeyer to accurately convey Charlie's concern over Bella. If by some miracle she did, it would be painful to read. Charlie knows very well that Bella hates Forks and I'm willing to bet that he feels just the same amount of guilt over it as she feels guilty for protecting Charlie from the paranormal. Not to mention that his own daughter is a complete stranger who is self-sufficient due to poor parenting. He's definitely not oblivious to the fact that Bella doesn't need his help with responsibilities. I bet he really resents Renee for this, but he won't bad mouth her because Bella and her mom are so close. Charlie missed out on Bella's youth so he'll damn well be determined to be there for her in adulthood.

But then Edward fucking Cullen showed up and it all went to shit.

When Edward bailed, Charlie finally saw a vulnerable side of Bella that proved she isn't as sensible or mature as she let on. If Charlie had known earlier, he would recognized that Bella did need him in a way, and he could slowly become the steady and available parent Bella didn't have in Renee.

A case could be made that Charlie should have tried harder in connecting with Bella. I'm not so sure that he didn't. Bella is hyperfixed on Edward's existence, and Edward can't read Charlie's thoughts. Once Bella set her sights on Edward, she lost interest in maintaining any other family or friend relationship she had. She hates hurting Charlie but deep down she doesn't care as much as she says she does, otherwise she would actively try to reconcile with her dad or take his concern hor her into account when making decisions. It's such a dick move, but I'm certain she got this attitude from Renee. Bella was never going to set roots in Forks, she intends to go wherever the Cullens go.

Charlie obviously knew that Bella preferred this perfect family over him, and to be honest, I don't want to know how much it hurt him to realize unconditional love and support wasn't going to be enough for Bella to make an effort with her father. And it sounds exactly how Renee would have responded to the situation. On the surface, Bella and Charlie are the most alike but in reality she is very much her mother's daughter. Charlie experiencing the same rejection twice from the two people he loved the most is something I couldn't handle reading on paper.
