Y'all, the world is sleeping on what NASA just pulled off with Voyager 1

The probe has been sending gibberish science data back to Earth, and scientists feared it was just the probe finally dying. You know, after working for 50 GODDAMN YEARS and LEAVING THE GODDAMN SOLAR SYSTEM and STILL CHURNING OUT GODDAMN DATA.

So they analyzed the gibberish and realized that in it was a total readout of EVERYTHING ON THE PROBE. Data, the programming, hardware specs and status, everything. They realized that one of the chips was malfunctioning.

So what do you do when your probe is 22 Billion km away and needs a fix? Why, you just REPROGRAM THAT ENTIRE GODDAMN THING. Told it to avoid the bad chip, store the data elsewhere.

Sent the new code on April 18th. Got a response on April 20th - yeah, it's so far away that it took that long just to transmit.

And the probe is working again.

From a programmer's perspective, that may be the most fucking impressive thing I have ever heard.

If you could relive any of your memories, which would it be?

Oh, that's a hard question. I'm not quite sure? There are many memories I hold very dear.

If I could take someone with me, I'd want to relive that time we went down the Irish rivers by boat and take my partners with.

If it's just reliving the memory exactly as it was, hmmmm. There are a lot of small ones that come to mind. Cooking with my partner. Baking with my other partner. Cuddling with my partner on the couch while we watch an anime. A late-night call with my partner. Hanging out with my friends.

But, all of those are things I can make happen again. If it's about reliving a memory, it would probably be something with my grandparents. When I was small, I would have sleepovers with my grandma and we would buy frozen pizza and play games. Or maybe years back with my grandparents, when my other grandma taught me to float in water. Or maybe apple or berry picking with my grandparents. Gardening was always fun.

But, I'd probably end up choosing a sleepover with my grandma. Where we go to get frozen pizza together and watch TV and play card games. I miss my grandparents.
