Demonstrators and artists have taken the steps of the met museum unfurling an ENORMOUS (30 x 50 foot) quilt created by artists around the world in solidarity with Palestine.

The quilt was collectively created by 64 artists from around the world and shipped to New York City.

They're demanding the met museum:

(1) cut ties with board members profiting from Israeli bombardment + occupation of Palestine

(2) support an immediate + permanent ceasefire

(3) aid the preservation of Palestinian cultural heritage sites being destroyed by Israel

In addition to the quilt, demonstrators reclaimed and redistributed Met flyers, stickered with movement messaging and demands.

If Izutsumi said "My type is women, I'm attracted to women," people would be correctly calling her a canon lesbian but because she said "I don't have a type or anything that I'm attracted to" her being aroace is apparently just a headcanon to y'all. People's lack of media literacy with regards to aroace characters strikes again.

#I think it's in part because it's a common trope for a character who says something like that #to undergo a character arc where they 'learn how to love' #someone not being interested in romance or sex is not expected to be permanent #it's seen as temporary #a character flaw #something to be overcome #so whenever a character says that people expect it to be something that's 'fixed' over the course of the story #it doesn't occur to them that maybe it's a matter of orientation #even though for izutsumi's story she's literally confirmed to not to be attracted to anyone and that doesn't change #that's just how she is... #anyway this happens in real life too when you say this to people 👍 #dunmeshi

I think it is incredible that President Biden is actually feeling the pressure from our protests. No, he hasn't done everything he needs to and he hasn't redeemed himself for his role in all this, but the fact that he was caught on a hot mic saying Netanyahu needs a "come to Jesus meeting" about how horribly he's treating Palestinians? That's incredible. All our protests and boycotts have not been in vain. If we weren't making trouble, these governments could keep pretending that they've done no wrong- but they can't escape the blame.

It's encouraging. When you feel like our protests are falling on deaf ears, remember that McDonalds started the year with a loss of over a million dollars, Starbucks fell below it's quarterly sales and is considering closing locations, and people are paying attention- they're changing their opinions. And while these numbers may not be groundbreaking, they are the signs of real effects. Real change.

Never Shut Up About Palestine. Never let them think we are silent and complicit. Let history remember that our governments did not stand for us in this moment, and we did everything we could to make them listen.

I like to headcanon Kakyoin as some form of queer because I think his backstory works really well as a metaphor for growing up closeted

#just. you know you are different from other people #in a way that's invisible and can be kept hidden #and you feel like no one will fully understand you #and you feel like you can't truly connect to your peers or even your family #because this part of you that is so fundamental to you is apparently incomprehensible to everyone else #and isn't even acknowledged #and you think there's no one else like you #it's so isolating #until he finally finds a group of friends who are like him (stand users I mean.. who are also queer) #I'm not actually too picky about what kind of queer he is #but I really like reading him as aroace #because I think it makes sense #and because he is my 2nd favorite
