Author’s NOTE: The journey is finished. I began posting this story two years ago on ao3, but the story actually began over six years ago. I had the opening few pages and a plot outline of the story, but never began writing in earnest. Frankly, I was a bit worried about writing an omega fic. Over the last two years, there were many long breaks when posting. Looking back, I really spent way too much time biting my nails and procrastinating finishing!  

But that’s done now. It feels so good to have it completed. It was Jillian ( @itsneverjustheartdisease ) who emailed me to lend support (and a lot of good advise). She’d encouraged me to write this so many years ago.

Hi all. I know @elwinglyre did resend this out, but for some reason the tagging didn’t take on her last update. If you haven’t read this, please do so. What impresses me most is the psychological underpinnings in this story. Sherlock is a victim who refuses to see himself as one and turns himself inside out in the process. Well done. As I said to her in my comment over chapter 5, this reminds me so much of her work with Ennis and Jack in her story Love is Blind.

It’s a spur-of-a-moment thing, while John is browsing his blog on Saturday evening. He’s reading all the kind words by strangers, who don’t know him and never will, and yet they care.

To understand how they ended up here, you need to understand that Mrs Hudson is an Alto, which means that when she tries to reach the higher notes of Diamonds are forever it makes Sherlock Holmes’ ears bleed. It’s only reasonable that he reaches out to a doctor.

Where have I heard that phrase before? Diamonds are forever? SH

Apparently, John suffers similarly, so approximately ten seconds after the first “forever”, Sherlock’s mobile pings.

Ch5: Dancing In The Dark

A private concerto (For John), a BLIND date, and the smartest man of Scotland Yard. 

It’s an universally known fact that Sherlock Holmes can’t cook. The same goes for John Watson. Or, so the world believed until now. Because tonight – and probably, for one night only – they cook.

And if cooking itself wasn’t a challenge for those two middle-aged men already, they decided to perform in sync.

It’s quite reasonable: after all, they vowed to not see each other, and cooking blind-folded is borderline stupid. Sherlock might have tried it out, but John’s doctor enough to put a foot down.

Therefore: cooking the exact same dish at the same time in two different locations by two men who cannot even make home-made pasta before.

What could possibly go wrong?

(Everything.)

ALL I can remember is John mourning Sherlock, goes to the country on a trip he had planned with him and Sherlock sneaks in through the window. They have a lovely weekend with a "tour of bee hives" but then Mycroft wipes John's memory and he thinks it was a bad binging weekend and then Sherlock finally comes back years later and John has moved on until he finds the matching tour braclet thing and realizes he was there for it

I’m not escorted to the usual visitors’ center. Instead we go to a private interrogation room. Instead of the usual white, we have a pale blue room with padded chairs, laminated table and two CCTV cameras. Vivian is already there. She’s wearing simple beige trousers and a cotton blouse in a floral print. Her hair is styled the same bob cut, but she’s taken less effort to cover the grey.

“What does the great Sherlock Holmes want from me?” She meets my eyes, her thin lips forming a flat line.

“An answer to why you killed Mary.”

She laughs and sits up straight. The vinyl on the padded metal chair squeaks as she does. Her hands are clasped on the table in front of her.

“The older brother is   smarter. How long did it take you?” The bitterness in her voice fills the room.

“It was a recent revelation,” I say.
