Honestly? As someone who’s read the comic and knows what’s gonna happen later,

The level of sadism they added to Nolan’s behavior in the last episode causes a characterization issue that’s going to make his later arc less credible, because... He was already a better person due to his time on Earth. Nolan’s “redemption arc“ is very muted with him doing little to prove himself before his family and friends accept him again. He’d already underwent his big change in character *before* the events of the comic/show, and this was an anomaly. A sort of Viltrumite mid life crisis brought on by panic, the fact that his duty was now to induct Mark into the Viltrumite way of life made him backslide and make some very rash decisions he came to regret the moment he saw what he’d done to his son. I went back and re-read the relevant comic issue to be sure, and yeah: I can buy a very powerful being such as a Viltrumite who is “already a better person“ getting into a brawl where he lets catastrophic collateral damage slide...  But cartoon Nolan did way more than just ignore collateral damage: He traumatically used his son’s body as a murder weapon against an entire train full of people to try to prove a point. I get that it dialed up the spectacle of the whole thing, and the show was overall pretty good. Just... There’s this one flaw in the execution of a very key moment that takes quite a lot of words to spell out clearly.

I‘ve been watching the series in chronological order and just finhe’d Solo last night. The prequels are fine if you can handle the middle one being a bit boring and having some awkward actor chemistry.

I recently watched the Star Wars Original Trilogy for the sake of finally seeing it all in one shot with an adult’s critical eye.  But now I’m left with the real question… do I dare do the same for the Prequel Trilogy?

Got all the Assault Intercessors built. First five are done as per instructions. Second five I cut the pegs off the shoulders and swapped their arms around for a bit of variety.

Got most of the iconography on everyone done. Just missing their squad numbers, which I need to go thru everyone I’ve done so far and see who’s assigned what and where and plot this out a bit.

Chaplain and Judiciar got new Reiver heads, and the Judiciar and Ancient got right side pauldrons.

I forgot about the Outriders on the bottom tray. Will get to get their iconography done tonight.

Signs I made for work. Got the Gandalf one from the net, and edited it slightly to make it fit on a piece of paper. Then found the Black Knight artwork and did some color/copy/paste work so it’d match the first. Printed on card stock, piece of comic backing board behind them, and then laminated for maximum sturdiness. To make sure the fishing line they’ll be hung with wouldn’t just tear right thru all that anyways I even got some little eyelets, drilled thru, and stuck em in there. Not my cleverest/dumbest signs, but definitely the highest quality ones I’ve put together.

These religious analogies tend to completely miss major context out to force things to line up.

I support the goals of Moses and #LetMyPeopleGo but I’m disappointed to see what used to be peaceful protests take such a violent turn :( Politely asking Pharaoh to free the Israelites from slavery is more effective than unleashing plague after plague on Egypt. And now I hear that a lot of Israelites are out destroying their own communities by tagging their houses with some kind of gang sign? that’s painted with animal blood? What does that even accomplish? I agree that a whole people being in bondage and having their babies killed is kind of messed up, but it’s still never okay to destroy people’s property with hail and locusts. They need to show more respect to the people who’ve been systemically slaughtering them. Violence never solved anything :( Two wrongs never make a right :( :(
