I think the idea of guns be regulated AND gun laws being an infringement more often than not are ideas that can, and should, coexist.

ATF bases their rules on basically fuck all. If I sat you down and you didn’t know shit about guns you’d be suprised what the ATF thinks is criminal.

BUT I also think it’s ridiculous we don’t have like, gun registration in most places. Or gun licensing. Literally something as simple as “do you know the basics of gun safety” and “here this gun is under your name to make it easier to tell when a weapon is stolen”

But nooooo. Dems think Gun Control is turning perfectly good citizens into criminals in the blink of an eye and destroying historical weaponry during trade-in and Republicans piss their pants at being asked to maybe think about regulating their dangerous items.

Your personal triggers and squicks do not get to determine what kind of art other people make.

People make shit. It’s what we do. We make shit to explore, to inspire, to explain, to understand, but also to cope, to process, to educate, to warn, to go, “hey, wouldn’t that be fucked up? Wild, right?”

Yes, sure, there are things that should be handled with care if they are used at all. But plenty more things are subjective. Some things are just not going to be to your tastes. So go find something that is to your tastes and stop worrying so much about what other people are doing and trying to dictate universal moral precepts about art based on your personal triggers and squicks.

I find possession stories super fucking triggering if I encounter them without warning, especially if they function as a sexual abuse metaphor. I’m not over here campaigning for every horror artist to stop writing possession stories because they make me feel shaky and dissociated. I just check Does The Dog Die before watching certain genres, and I have my husband or roommate preview anything I think might upset me so they can give me more detail. And if I genuinely don’t think I can’t handle it, I don’t watch it. It’s that simple.

I understand all theories and psychological ideas behind analysis of serial killers but I must point out that lots of women get abandoned or abused in childhood but very rarely grow up to brutalize, slaughter, torture other people

Everyone is whining about students getting arrested for gathering and yelling about being pro hamas. I am just curious as to why this is a problem for you? These students are screaming how they want people to be brutally raped and mutilated. That's what happened on October 7th. They want it to happen again. There are white women yelling how they "are hamas" do you understand that they would rape you? Do you understand the brutality and humiliation and pain they would make you endure?

How dare they show so much disrespect to the hundreds of people killed and raped and tortured. How dare these men cry out that October 7th will happen again. How much of a heinous maggot are you?

When I was a kid my family pretended to get raptured so I would think I was left behind on earth while they all went to heaven.

I was like 8 years old and my sister and mom had gotten really into the Left Behind novels (bible fan fic about the rapture). In the books when the rapture happened the clothes that people were wearing when they got raptured were left behind in neatly folded piles.

One day when I was getting home from school my family decided that they would leave piles of neatly folded clothes around the house, and then hide in the basement.

The intended effect was that I would get home and see the clothes then, think that my family had been raptured and that I wasn’t good enough to get into heaven… or something?

The problem was that I had never read these books, and didn’t really think about the rapture very often. There was no reason that I would see some laundry on the floor and think “The rapture happened and I’ve been abandoned by God! I’ll never see my family again!! Oh nooo!!!!”

I just sat down and watched cartoons and eventually my family got bored and revealed that they were all hiding in the basement.

It’s a good thing I didn’t understand the joke, otherwise that shit would have been traumatic.
