Pastor Kevin Murriel Cascade UMC 12/29/13
27-year-old Associate Pastor Kevin Murriel is an impressive orator to say the least. His message this morning at Cascade United Methodist posed a simple question of, what does one do when they know better and don't do better? My thoughts and reactions to his sermon below: Teaching from Luke:2 39-52 What do you do when you have knowledge and not wisdom? Importance of increasing wisdom: by the age of 12 Jesus not only knows who he is, but what his business is. i.e. Had awareness of his calling from God Set out to do only things that benefit your calling How can someone who already knows everything know more? Philippians 2:5-whats lawful versus what is profitable Being Christlike: humble: empty yourself: how to set aside your omniscience: become low How do we increase in wisdom? Ask God to teach us more about who we are in God and what God is calling us to be. Be Prepared; Be Focused; Be Articulate Jesus only preached publicly for 3 years but prepared for 17 Ask God to increase my focus-move me to a place where I don't want to do anything else but what you've called me to do. Wisdom gets you prepared, focus keeps you in the moment Be focused on your mission
