Fl4shing Alert!
Tubi is a free TV service. It is releasing specials.
The first one I clicked was, "Scariest Places in the World."
There was so much fl4shing in those first few seconds. So much.
I think people should avoid any tubi specials, in case they are all like this.

Perhaps an iron on, adhesive band, or fabric glue? Make sure the area is not stiffened in a way you do not want, and do tests on less vital places.
i wonder if i can make superficial alterations to my knee-brace w/o effecting its function 🤔

having a lower limb difference often really changes the kind of wheelchair you need and because limb differences are so unique to the individual ATPs often don't know what to do with us and just give us the "standard" build leaving us with uncomfortable, harmful, or impossible to use chairs
even when our ATPs do try to accommodate our limb differences insurance will often deny those changes because our diagnosis may not be on their very small list of qualifying conditions

If you have celiac and buy the brand Van’s for their waffles, please know that 9 days ago there was a recall because some of the packages of the gluten free waffles may contain “undeclared” wheat. And if you have celiac, you know “may” might as well mean “does”.
This recall only applies to boxes with the matching lot codes and numbers, and do not pertain to other products that Van’s has to offer. These boxes were distributed in AZ, CA, FL, GA, IL, NC, & WA. Please check your boxes immediately to ensure your own safety and save yourself the painful reactions to gluten. It’s advised the purchased packages be either thrown out (or given to someone who can eat wheat so as not to waste it) or return the product to where you’ve purchased it from.
Tumblr media
“The U.S. Food & Drug Administration website published the recall July 3. It applies to certain packs of Van's Gluten Free Original Waffles with lot code UW40193L, expiration date Jan. 19, 2024, and UPC 0 89947 30206 4. According to the Van's recall, some of the packs of waffles may contain undeclared wheat.”

Tags to use for photosensitive content
[Plain text: Tags to use for photosensitive content End plain text.]
"Flashing lights" and "flashing" are good catch-all tags, even if there is no flashing or strobe effects. The reason being is that these are the most common tags that photosensitives will have filtered. Blinkies are included!
"Eyestrain" is a good tag for content with lots of high-saturation and bright colors, or high contrast. This is not exclusive to gifs and videos, but also still images and artwork.
"Glitch" is referring to glitch effects, which can trigger photosensitivite conditions. While not the ideal tag, it is best used as well as the first two in the list.
From the notes - "strobing" and "strobing lights" are also used, but not as often as the first two. For strobe effects.
Tags that should not be used for photosensitive content
[Plain text: Tags that should not be used for photosensitive content End plain text.]
Any type of tag that includes "tw," "cw," or any other changes to the base tag. To Tumblr, the tag "tw flashing lights" and "flashing lights" are entirely separate tags. Someone who has "flashing lights" filtered will not automatically have "tw flashing lights" filtered. There are so many variants of these alternative tags that it is hard for photosensitives to filter them all, so using the base tags is the best for safety.
Any tags that use a photosensitive condition as the warning. The most common one is "tw epilepsy," which shows up in the search for "epilepsy" on this site, which will make sure that those who are epileptic will see that content. Think of it as similar to putting body-checking posts with "tw ED" and it showing up for people with EDs who are trying to recover. Other tags like this include "epileptic content" and "photosensitivity warning," and it can also make discussion of these conditions harder to find for those experiencing it.
The tag "seizure warning" is not a viable tag because it is not a warning of what the post contains, only what it may cause. People need to know what a post may contain through the tags to identify how much of a risk that content is for their condition.

r/transcribers of reddit will be closing on the 30th due to the API changes, reddit does not have a built in transcription option, this is essentially the final blow to blind and visually impaired users on reddit.

Unpopular opinion but shoes inside the house are fine with me because i wear a prosthetic leg and it's a pain in the ass to put on and take off shoes. also walking "barefoot" is very uncomfortable.
One of my best friends has CP and taking shoes off and putting them on is something he needs to plan because it takes a lot of time.
Not to mention leg braces, wheelchairs and mobility aids in general.
If you refuse to sweep and vacuum your house after having guests then you're the one with poor hygiene not me.

How to Tag Gifs for People with Epilepsy: A Masterpost
Hello Tumblr! I’m here to talk about something near and dear to my heart: tagging gifs that could trigger an epileptic seizure. This is a huge issue (google SUDEP if you don’t believe me), and yet it doesn’t seem to get much attention from the community at large. Very often I see people claim “I don’t know what to tag!” and so they either tag every gif or none at all. That’s why this post was made. I’m here to educate you and spread awareness. If you follow the ‘read more’, I’ve gathered a whole army of gifs with the help of the lovely eyelash that will help you understand what should and should not be tagged. WARNING: If you are a photosensitive epileptic or bothered by gifs in general, please do not click the link below. The gifs within are many and quite triggering.

My bones will hurt when I get sick with normal things, like colds. One doctor said it was probably because white blood cells are made in the bones.
It feels achey, everything gets heavy, and I feel super tired.
do you get bone hurting? my bones hurt but bones don't have nerves that can feel stuff but my bones specifically hurt but bones dont have nerves???
I thought it was my joints when I first got sick and we spent a long time thinking it was arthritis or lupus or something that wasn't showing up in tests.

I do not use the app. I see moving avatars. So this might be an app only thing.
I am pleased to report that gif pfp do not work on mobile (for now). Thankfully because that would have been hell for me.
So if anyone else has the problem and doesn't find switching to mobile too hard, that is an option.
I'm telling you because I believe you have far more followers concerned about this than I do.

Here are some miscellaneous tips and misconceptions for sighted people who want to be a better ally to the Blind / Visually Impaired:
- Don't assume how much residual vision we have even if you think you can tell. Do not ask extensive questions about our vision and what we can or can't see in general unless we give permission. Don't try to figure it out on your own either.
- Blindness is a spectrum and there are many different ways to be blind. Some of us have very complex vision or vision that isn't static. Someone could read a book fine, but still be blind because they have a very small field of vision and no depth perception. Anyone on the blind spectrum is welcome to identify as blind.
- We act "more blind" than we are because people will refuse us help when we need it if we don't "fit the blind bill" so to speak. Don't accuse anyone of faking for any reason but especially for that one.
- It's not your place to expect us to blend into the sighted world the best we can or use as much of our vision as we can. A lot of us choose not to use our residual vision because with certain kinds of blindness, it takes conscious effort to see/process what we are seeing. It's easier to be blind than see sometimes.
- Ask if we need accommodations or for you to adapt how you usually communicate. Do not assume we do or don't need them.
- Start adding image descriptions to ALL images you send/post anywhere. Start considering blind people and screen reader users everywhere because trust me, we are everywhere!
- Stop using "blind" and blindness as an insult, joke or metaphor. There are some uses of those words unrelated to visual impairment that are fine when used respectfully (i.e, "a blinding light") but choose your words carefully.
- People who have perfect vision with glasses, "visually impaired" is not your term
- For fiction writers, stop with the blind seer / "blind but has super cool special abilities that make up for it or entirely erase it somehow" tropes please.
- Stop using small text in your posts
- Put image descriptions/alt text on the images in your carrds and rentrys and whatnot. Start putting them on your blog or get help to.
- We don't want to hear about your grandpa that's going blind or your pet cat that lost an eye while we're just trying to wait in line for coffee
- Treat white canes like you would treat any other disability aid: it is an extension of the person's body, don't touch it or move it without permission. Don't ask to try it out.
- DeafBlind people exist. We're out there. We're not a myth. Consider us too. There are many ways of interacting with the world that do not involve sight or hearing.
- Don't tell us about your all consuming fear about the treacherous horrors of vision loss and how you wouldn't want to live if you went blind. Blindness is our reality, not your nightmare. Examine why blindness is so terrifying to you and work to overcome it.
Blind/Visually Impaired people, feel free to add on!

Honestly, I would not do it at all. I have been on forums that allowed gifs in signatures and profiles. You had to read while things were flashing at you and it was sometimes annoying, often times dangerous. Also, people who did this were ostracized in some forums. "Why would you do that to people?" And stuff like that.
If you have to do it, avoid stark transitions, like black to white, red to blue, etc. Use gentle transitions. No eyestrain patterns.
