When a woman eats in public it violates all kinds of unwritten assumptions about how women "should" act, and gives licence to those who wish to shame them.

I have experienced this on various occasions, people have said “haven’t you had enough” or “you’re eating again”. Some don’t have to say a word you could be minding your own business and a stranger or partner or maybe your family member makes you feel shameful or uncomfortable just because how dare you as a women enjoy your fucking food

There is one thing that would get to me growing up my mam always prioritised a man’s plate like bigger potions, must be served first and it always seemed unnatural to me like,why ?

as women we shouldn’t think it’s selfish to look after ourselves first or equally but being a people pleaser shouldn’t be normalised…because your daughters and sons will notice these traditional ways or chains and it will effect them more than we think I myself am speaking as a daughter. I notice myself occasionally seeping into old habits and I sit back and remember that’s not the woman I am 🗣️
