How To Start An Online Grocery Store
Tumblr media
If you are thinking of starting an online grocery store…..
…. there’s this vital bit of statistics:
Accenture estimates that by 2020, out of the total retail consumption by shoppers worldwide, eCommerce will get 13.5%. In other words, out of every 7 dollars spent on retail consumption, eCommerce will get a little over 1 dollar.
Gold rush. Isn’t it ?
Add to it the fact that there’s practically no way you don’t buy grocery – whatever the channel of purchase – you have a promising grocery market.
And yet, people planning to get into the business of online grocery store often think the market is the same as that of an e-retailers….
……. That’s incorrect.
Beyond some superficial similarities the two businesses share, at an operational level, they are entirely different. For instance, an online grocery store deals with items that are perishable in nature, unlike an e-retailer who faces no such risks.
As a result, when you are trying to figure out how to start an online grocery store, you must address these issues in a superior manner.
So here’s what you’ll need to do before starting a grocery store.
#1 Understand And Research The Business
Online grocery is all about sourcing and delivering within the shortest time possible, given the inherent perishable nature of most of its products. You’ll want to understand what do the local farms produce the most and what do they provide the best – often, these two things aren’t the same.
Carefully study and analyze the buying pattern and habits of the geographical area you intend to serve. Since you are dealing with edible items, also understand the local licensing requirements.
Here’s an example of Big Basket – An Indian Grocery startup – They are innovating in the Grocery space where they are delivering specialties of one region to another region similar. This is a niche area and yields high profit margins.
Golden Tip: Some of the products you can source might be organic, grown without harmful pesticides. If you can identify or cultivate a market for such products, you can get better profit margins.
#2 Identify The Model That Suits You Best
As mentioned earlier, the perishable nature of the items you intend to sell offers you some business models that differ in delivery, inventory, and payment terms.
The second most question that you need to ask yourself is :
Do you want to operate a warehouse of your own or choose to make arrangements for drop shipping, where your brick-and-mortar partner shop will deliver on your behalf ?
As you begin to explore this question, your business model will continue getting refined.
Let me share an example on how they disrupted the Grocery space :
Instacart’s same-day grocery delivery service has disrupted the grocery market. This created opportunities for other startups to tap into online Grocery delivery business.
Instacart has partnered with major brands & retailers to delivery groceries to door step.
Golden Tip: It makes sound business sense to have a substantial portion of your offerings in the form of packaged foods that have a much longer shelf-life. For example : A can of Alphonso mango can easily be stored for weeks, while fresh mangoes may not last beyond a week.
#3 Ensure Your Suppliers Can Deliver
The biggest criteria to on board any supplier is to ensure whether they can deliver.
The deliver ability has multiple factors like :
Stock/Inventory
Serviceable     Areas (If they are ready to own the delivery piece)
Warehouse     distance
Also a lot of entrepreneurs, think on the lines of Starting an online organic food & vegetable store and delivery service where they look at tie-ups directly with farmers. So, in this case there are multiple checks that you need to follow :
Not all farms follow best farming practices. As a result, their yield is less likely to be predictable regarding quantity, quality, and timely availability.
Once farm produce is ready, you’ll need to find buyers quickly or else the product runs the risk of turning stale or otherwise unfit for consumption. And availability is not all – your supplier will need to supply the right quality.
With a good, seasoned supplier you can earn lasting customer loyalty.
Similar to Instacart the same-day delivery by Bloomex supplies fresh fruits & vegetables at your doorstep. This is also a great business model and a great opportunity to tap.
Golden Tip: Starting an online grocery store and running it is profitable and fun, provided you have the right supplier. From the beginning, set up a monitoring system for vendors.
#4 Get Your Technology Angle Right
According to Morgan Stanley Research, more than a 1/3rd of global online consumers are expected to shop their groceries online, which would set the stage for what could be the next significant opportunity for Mobile commerce.
The data makes it evident that technology will take a driver’s seat for a seamless grocery shopping in the future ahead. Your online store is nothing but your website and your app.
Your technology partner needs to understand every feature, every requirement of starting an online grocery store and translate that into a technology-enabled solution.
At Infigic, we have worked on a dozen of Grocery startups and help them prosper with our ready to deploy grocery app & website. As a grocery startup, the most important thing should be your website, as well as your mobile app.
The website and mobile should be super fast, robust, secure and easy to use which would help you to scale as you grow.
Golden Tip: Choose the right grocery app development partner, and you’re pretty much sorted. Our clients benefit from the vast experience we have in designing grocery websites and apps, specifically for online grocery stores.
#5 Make Sure Your Logistics Are In Place
At least in part, your technology partner can influence your logistics: your web or app must be appropriately integrated with your logistics partner. It will become very critical if you are carrying inventory in your warehouse.
With on demand platforms like Uber, customers these days need more convenience and real time updates. With Driver app, Your customers will be able to track their deliveries in real time also you would be able to assign the right deliveries and track the location of each driver. This makes the entire logistics & supply chain smooth resulting into a phenomenal customer experience & repeat business.
If, on the other hand, your business model is one of dropshipping, you will have to evolve a system of remote quality assurance quickly.
All this must be done within your costing constraints: remember, often people buy online as much for convenience as for getting a good bargain.
Don’t forget; you’re in the business of delivering stuff whose weight efficiently runs into multiple pounds.
Here an example of an interesting Grocery startup – how they solved the problem of logistics & supply chain creatively ….
Farmstead approach of relying on small distribution hubs to offer the curated selection of products is a win-win situation as they encourage customers to have weekly deliveries and waives delivery fees for subscribers.
Golden Tip: An online grocery business cannot handle too many product returns. Additionally, some products may need extra care in packaging and handling or may have to be delivered within a matter of hours to preserve the original taste or flavor.
It’s essential your logistics partner is capable of all this because your business reputation rests upon how well you deliver your promise.
#6 Manage Shopping Carts And Payment
As your business grows, you’ll begin stocking more items. While in itself it’s okay, your online grocery store and app must have been designed to take a more significant number of items. There’s an interesting point here that sets apart online grocery stores from e-retailers.
Buying grocery often involves more than one member of the family. If you can let registered users pool their shopping carts and combine their orders, you not only increase the chances of selling more but also cut your shipping costs, since you’ll be delivering one consolidated order instead of many.
Here’s an example of another Grocery startup :
Brandless has raised $50 million in funding and sells everyday essentials for $3 each.
Golden Tip: For items that you’ve partnered with grocers nearest to the buyer, you can always consider offering the Cash on Delivery (CoD) option.
The CoD has its advantage, and when you offer this as an acceptable payment alternative in addition to the regular electronic payment gateways, you’re giving more reason for the customer to buy from you.
#7 Stay Profitable While Serving Better
Staying profitable means your revenues must stay ahead of your costs. With the high number of perishable items you carry, your online grocery store always faces the danger of irrecoverable expenses that result from products past their best-before dates.
The smartest strategy to keep that balanced will perhaps be to carry packaged foods that have a longer shelf life, and sometimes also a better profit margin.
Here’s an example of an interesting startup which ventured into Online Seafood and Fish Delivery service – The biggest pain point they addressed was “How to start an online seafood & fish delivery service” –
Freshtohome tied up with fishermen who return from fishing trips daily. By, this way they are able to deliver fresh food to their customer’s door step
Golden Tip: The more intermediaries you can cut, the better your margins. In certain items (say, dry fruits) you may need to depend upon intermediaries, but in other cases (say, fresh vegetables) you have the choice of striking a deal with the farm that grows the produce.
Such an arrangement can cut intermediary commissions, improve margins and deliver fresher produce.
#8 Build a Strong Marketing Program
Starting an online grocery store, just like any other business, requires you to design and execute a high-impact marketing program carefully. You can do it yourself, but you’ll likely prefer having a specialized agency do it for you.
A full-service SEO agency that offers you everything from off-page and on-page SEO to content marketing and everything in between could be what you’re looking for.
Another thing you can consider is having native advertisements or tying up with reasonably popular recipe YouTube channels or cooking blogs.
You can send them free samples of some of the items you carry, and in turn, they can use those ingredients or merely review your products.
Golden Tip: In most cases, grocery items have different names in different languages. Marketing best practices require that your online grocery store website or your mobile application for grocery store must offer multilingual features.
That can be done quickly – just integrate with Google Translate. That way you won’t have to worry about losing customers just because your online grocery store didn’t have the right word.
Conclusion
If you are looking how to start a grocery store these are the steps you should consider. We’ve left out apparent details like licensing requirements or great photography. But do you think we missed anything significant? Don’t let us get away if we fell short; post your comments below and share what you think.

Magento vs Shopify: What Should You Choose?
Tumblr media
Of the many competitors jostling for being the platform of choice in the eCommerce website development, two names stand out: Magento and Shopify. Since quite some time, there seems to have been a never-ending debate: When it boils down to Magento vs Shopify, what platform should you choose for your online shop?
What makes the Shopify vs Magento debate really, really interesting (and difficult) is the fact that the two couldn’t be more different! Both empower their shop-owners with features that serve similar purposes, yet are handed out very differently. Both offer huge scope for customization, yet they take routes that are distinct. Both also have some unique limitations and yet are amazingly powerful in their own ways.
Primary comparison: Magento vs Shopify
First things first.
Magento is a free, open-source software which means you can make as many changes as you want – and as you are technically competent enough to carry out.
Shopify is a commercial, proprietary product. It offers great customization too, but you can’t change its inherent structure.
Magento does not have its own hosting. In other words, Magento gives you the freedom to select your own hosting provider.
Shopify, on the other hand, is a hosted solution. That means it hosts your shop.
Finally, Magento requires you yourself carry out the installation, setting up and configuring.
Shopify does almost all of this for you and saves you a lot of effort. For a fee, of course.
To summarize the first round of comparison of Shopify vs Magento, one can say Shopify is a paid SaaS that does a lot of things for you, while Magento is free and open-source, so you’ll be doing a lot of stuff yourself.
Now let’s dig a little deeper.
Convenience and Ease of Use
Magento, as said earlier, requires you to do a lot of things by yourself. Of course, there are numerous 3rd party plug-ins that you can use. To begin with, Magento, which uses PHP, requires you to handle all the installations and setting up. This can turn out to be quite complex if you’re short of resources on your team.
The positive side is that with Magento, you get great flexibility. Since a number of things are in your hands, you can carry out changes to suit your requirements. Assuming your team is technically skilled, you’ll love the kind of freedom Magento gives you.
Shopify, like the typical SaaS (Software as a Service), charges you a monthly fee, starting $29/mo onwards. Against the fees, it will make your installation and set up a great deal easier. That’s because Shopify will take care of the coding part and you’ll be required to only make selections and click your choices.
The downside, if it can be called a downside, is that Shopify is a closed platform. If you’re a coder who prefers freedom, Shopify may not please you since it will not allow much flexibility.
So if you are skilled – and ready to invest time – Magento presents a better case. Non-technical people or beginners, on the other hand, will prefer Shopify. In other words, when it’s Shopify vs Magento, Shopify wins at the entry level.
Support, Hosting and Miscellaneous Features
Shopify has a 24×7 support available that has you covered. You can email or phone Support, or communicate with the Support and can be sure you’ll be responded to. Anytime you’re stuck, you know Support will solve the issue.
Magento Community Edition (CE) does not have any support; Enterprise Edition (EE) does. You have done the setting up, so are pretty much to yourself. However, as a result, a huge community has developed over time that extremely helpful. Its members share their experiences, report likely issues and generously offer help.
With Magento, you’ve chosen your own hosting service provider. In case you tried to drive down costs by choosing a low-end hosting-provider, you must also be ready for the associated risks.
Shopify, on the other hand, has handled the hosting on your behalf, just as it does for each of its thousands of clients, backup and security is pretty much a given. You can be assured of automatic backups and the strong security measures.
Finally, Magento offers you a very wide range of themes to choose from, starting very low in the costing range. You get to choose from the big number of templates too. Additionally, there are a great number of add-ons and apps that can easily fit into your Magento-built store.
Magento also offers a good range of multi-lingual capabilities, something that Shopify doesn’t offer directly; you’ve found a way around. Magento being fully community-driven, you get a much bigger number of apps and add-ons. In comparison, Shopify’s range of apps is quite limited.
Costing and Payment Gateways
As said earlier, Shopify is a paid, commercial product; Magento CE is free. (Of course, you may need to hire a Magento developer, so that’s an additional cost.) This can be an important consideration for developers and small businesses when they are conducting a study of Magento vs Shopify.
Shopify offers a 14-day free trial, after which you can choose from its packages. Its basic package begins at $28/mo. As you move towards bigger packages, you get more features like better analytics, abandoned carts revivals and so on. It’s important to note that such features, although from 3rd parties, cost significantly less with Magento.
When you’re building your shop using Magento, you’ll need to separately buy domain names and hosting. You’ll not want to compromise on hosting, because that, in turn, can impact the speed of your site. Therefore think carefully before you select a hosting provider. Shopify packages, on the other hand, cover these things so there are no additional charges.
As for the payments, if you use PayPal, Authorize.net, or a similar external payment gateway, Shopify charges transactions fees. Bigger the monthly package you’ve opted for, smaller the percentage of these transaction fees. There’s, however, an alternative. If you opt for Shopify’s direct payment gateway, you are exempt from the transaction fees.
Some costs remain extra for both these. For instance, any additional add-ons you want on your site will cost extra, irrespective of the platform. (Some add-ons on Magento are free; you may use them if you trust the source.)
Scalability and Capacity
In the Shopify vs Magento debate, another important factor is scalability. For small shops that have limited or no access to technical resources, Shopify is way better. That’s because almost everything is ready-made and any add-ons required can be easily put to use like plug-and-play.
For large-scale stores with multiple and varied requirements, it’s difficult to beat Magento. That’s because of the tremendous customization it offers. Even though your store is currently small, if you expect to grow quickly and grow big, you’d be better off opting for Magento.
Some of the additional features that large-store owners like about Magento is that it comes with more front-end features like gift-cards and wish-lists and coupon codes.
It can safely be concluded that while the small business may find it convenient, to begin with, Shopify, bigger businesses – or businesses that are slated to grow big very soon – find Magento a whole lot better.
Design and Marketing Opportunities
To begin with, the proprietary themes of Shopify can be useful to a certain degree. Since you can’t do much of changes with these themes, one of the first limitations you face is in branding – you may be constrained with color combinations, for example. Magento, especially Magento 2, seems to carry a lot of promise into its platform. Its drag and drop editing and hugely customizable design opportunities serve branding options better.
Sorting customers, managing payment processors or handling wish-lists is something Magento 2 has brought near perfection. Shopify used to be better in terms of site-speed (that’s because Magento doesn’t host your site, so your site-speed depends largely upon your hosting service provider), but this difference is likely to vanish with Magento 2. Magento, especially Magento 2, has certain in-built promotion features like promotional pricing that can be fully exploited.
Its new admin panel is easier to manage. And with Magento 2, checkout is fast and distraction free. That goes a long way in reducing cart abandonment, one of the major causes of concern in eCommerce.
Shopify has a Shopify Facebook app, in its search for a better reach. Apart from that, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Search Engine Marketing (SEM) are the areas where there isn’t a clear winner between Shopify and Magento. At least on these grounds, the argument of Shopify vs Magento doesn’t produce a clear winner.
Conclusion
One thing that emerges out of this debate is that in the Magento vs Shopify comparison, there is not going to be an overall winner. Almost everything depends on the factors that matter most to you.
If you are looking for something that’s easy like plug-and-play, something that works best from the word goes, probably you’re better off with Shopify. If on the other hand, you prefer doing things yourself and tinkering with every detail, Magento is what you should choose. A general agreement is it’d be a smart decision for small-businesses to opt for Shopify, while big-businesses, especially that need a good number customizations, will find Magento better meets their requirements.

10 best practices that ensures your Magento store stands Out from the rest
Tumblr media
Online retail today is so competitive that only those businesses who follow ecommerce best practices will survive in the long term.
It is important to note that while pricing will remain an important element in the online retail industry, best practices for ecommerce is much beyond that.
These best practices include factors like user friendly designs and better cart management. But more than that, the way you make your customers feel when they purchase from your website decides the future of your online store.
As a Magento development company, we found that Magento 2 has a lot more powerful features that will help you power up your eCommerce game and stand out.
We have prepared a list of the most important best practices that you can incorporate in your Magento store that you can incorporate in your Magento store. This list will help you engage better, sell more and serve faster.
To keep these tips organized, we’ve grouped them under four heads: User-friendly design, Sales and Marketing, Building Trust and Back-end stuff.
User-friendly design
#1. Keep your design clean
No matter how great your pricing and how amazing your products, you won’t be able to do much if your design isn’t attractive.
When we say an attractive design, we don’t mean one with lots of colors. We mean one that is least obtrusive to the visitor and lets her browse and shop with minimum interference. Basically, a minimalistic design.
You need a neat, minimalistic design mainly for two reasons.
One, it creates a distraction-free experience for visitors and allows them to focus on things that matter the most.
Two, it is also about respecting and valuing your visitors’ time on your site.
They will be on your site only for so many seconds (yes, it’s not minutes always). If they have to struggle around a cluttered site to reach what they want, they’ll leave your site.
If you are trying select the best eCommerce design, you can choose Magento 2 themes. They are modern, minimalistic and yet classy. Nego is a good responsive minimalist theme that we have used in the past.
#2. Have simple menus
As the range of your products increases, your listings grow too. And then it leads to a conflict.
On one hand, you want to show your visitors what a wide collection of items you are carrying. On the other hand, you don’t want an unwelcoming, cluttered site.
It’s a good idea to regroup your products and place them under broader categories. As your visitor begins her journey of browsing, you can keep opening up newer sub-categories that are just enough to help her check out your store better.
Some of the finest menu can be built with Magento ecommerce design. Remember, ecommerce best practices require you turn visitors into customers by making things easy for them.
#3. Use breadcrumbs
Breadcrumbs are trails of navigation that show the route from homepage to the page the visitor is currently on.
A typical breadcrumb looks like this:Home > Appliances > Refrigerators > SomeBrand > Double-door
The biggest advantage of breadcrumbs is that it tremendously reduces the efforts (read, the number of clicks) on the part of the visitor to navigate back to a higher category.
In the above example, the visitor can jump to the Appliances category by simply clicking on “Appliances”. Without breadcrumbs, your visitor would need to click “Back” at least two times – basically two steps.
If this looks insignificant, remember that every step you force a visitor to carry out increases the chances of your visitor feeling it’s too much work. Magento 2.0’s default navigation structure makes your navigation becomes completely effortless.
#4. Carry the right product details
Here’s a great example: Hayneedle doesn’t simply list out dimensions of a corner desk; it shows the dimensions with the help of an image. Without the image, the visitor will have a hard time trying to figure out which part does the 28” dimension refers to.
But that’s not all. Product details do more than explain what the product does. Product details open up possibilities. Compelling product descriptions sell. Great descriptions, coupled with powerful images, help you upsell.
A visitor looking for an economy range deo can end up buying an expensive bottle of perfume, thanks the description. The perfume promises to make a more pleasant person out of her – and that’s one irresistible promise.
Be brief, show the promise and be accurate. Magento 2 offers great customization options which when implemented properly makes your store stand out visually as well as with the right set of functionality and features
#5. Use powerful search and filters
The very tool that can work for your success can also turn against you: product variety.
When you carry a large number of items under various categories, customers will have to go through many products and brands before they find the exact tee or the right concert ticket they’re looking for.
Magento 2 offers powerful search and filter options, however if you want advance options you can implement Magento Advanced search extensions that can extend the autocomplete popup with a number of new search blocks. Along with product search results, the plugin displays accurate results based on recent and popular searches. It also adds search data for categories and CMS pages. Furthermore, it is compatible with the built-in Magento EE Solr and Elasticsearch.
While a search tells customers whether your store carries a particular product category, a filter will help them zero down to a price-band, size or any other specification.
#6. Build your mailing list
Nothing puts off a user than not finding what they are looking for in a hassle-free manner.May be the visitor will not buy anything from your store. Maybe she’ll buy once, leave and never return again. Or maybe she’ll turn into very loyal customer, making frequent purchases from you.
The most popular tool you have to improve your engagement with the visitor/customer is their email address.
Pop-ups are perhaps the best tool to collect email addresses. But why should visitor share their email addresses with you?
You can offer a certain discount in exchange of the email address. Alternatively, you may invite them to sign up for your newsletter wherein you could inform them of great exclusive deals.
You can also do something creative, like using a spinning wheel of fortune. The visitor clicks on the wheel which begins spinning. When it comes to a stop, the visitor wins any of the given benefits. In order to actually use the benefits, the visitor submits her email address.
One more good thing about Magento 2 is that it offers Free extension integrates with email marketing leaders like MailChimp. You can also enjoy Magento extensions that help you with your inbound marketing tools & CRM, e.g. HubSpot and Salesforce integrations.
#7. Tackle shopping cart abandonment
Shopping cart abandonment is frustrating for all businesses; a customer walks away without buying anything at the last moment.
Audit your check-out process. Is the check out process too lengthy? Is the order summary properly displayed? Are you asking for unnecessary information? Or maybe you’re displaying the shipping charges only at the last moment? (That’s unfair, by the way.) Correct these issues right away.
Aheadworks Magento 2 Cart Abandonment extension is a very powerful & easy to integrate Magento extension that helps you to reduce your overall cart abandonment rates.
Next, examine your payment options. If you don’t offer popular payment options, your potential customers will abandon their shopping carts. Why let a customer go without buying just because you didn’t manage the integration?
Finally, check the technical back-end stuff. Is your page taking a long time loading? Are your designs not friendly across different browsers?
Building Trust
#8. Use customer reviews to build trust
If you’re carrying a number of items, it’s obvious a product or two may fail to stand up to customers’ expectations.
Don’t hide that.
Make sure your customers know what exactly they’re paying for.
That’s best done through actual users, your other customers who’ve bought the product earlier. Encourage users to write genuine reviews and publish them.
Some reviews may be less than flattering, but when visitors read the negative reviews along with the positive ones, they’ll know you aren’t hiding anything.
As a matter of fact, publishing negative reviews is good for a number of reasons. One, it helps visitors trust you. Two, they know what exactly is/are the limitation of the product they are about to buy. And three, such knowledge leads to reduced returns, which saves you substantial logistics and related costs.
#9. Be transparent
Traditional brick and mortar stores built their reputation in person - someone or the other knows the owner or the store manager or the sales clerk.
With an online business you have to build trust differently, by always remaining transparent.
Typically , trust is reflected in your pricing , delivery terms, quality promised, claims regarding performance and warranty.
Remaining open about these areas not only builds a great reputation but also helps you stand out. A skilled Magento 2 agency can help you get the best of this delicate matter.
Backend stuff
#10. Understand A/B testing
Online retail is dynamic and constantly evolving.
So what do you do?
Keep testing. Keep measuring. Keep improving.
One of the best-kept secrets of Magento 2 is that it is the first version of Magento that offers ‘out of the box' ability to do A/B testing - no need for plugins, or custom development. If you are using Magento 2 Enterprise edition, it's ready for you. help you with all the reporting and analytics.
While multivariate testing is effective, testing one element, making one change at a time can help you notice correlations at a finer level.
#11. Never use a sub-standard hosting service that sucks
The maxim "You get what you pay for" is likely coined for hosting services.
Frequent downtimes, inadequately secured networks or insufficient bandwidth can adversely impact your business a lot more than you can imagine.
Don't cut corners; evaluate the best Magento 2 hosting service you can afford. With Magento web hosting, for instance, you know you have your back covered.
To deliver the best ecommerce experience, you need to use the best web services yourself.

Tips To Attain High Customer Retention Rate For Your eCommerce Website
Tumblr media
It can be simple lose in the chronic battle of customer acquisition. Towards the very top of the funnel for more traffic coming to the website seems like the clear means to grow the business.
However, according to the Adobe Digital Index Report, returning customers constitute 40 percent of earnings while representing only 8 percent of traffic. This tells us there's a massive opportunity to increase customer retention rates further to support earnings growth. You should improve your eCommerce user experience to gain more customers to your site.
It is a worthy investment. The high growth retailers have wholesome customer retention rates. In the best cases, customers are returning sometimes every year that helps to validate the expense of acquisition.
To validate the significance of investing in customer retention, but where should you begin?
According to eCommerce Expert Richard Lazazzera, there are seven main strategies that companies should use in order to achieve high customer retention rates:
Utilize customer accounts
Implement a customer loyalty system
Send regular customer newsletter emails
Surprise and delight your customers
Reach out and connect on social media, and post often
Offer a discount or credit to return
Implement right place, right product, right time emails
Why would a customer come back?
Setting the scene is essential. Ignore your existing website for the moment and spend time thinking about it from the customer's perspective. The eCommerce website cost can be one time but the cost to acquire a customer is continuous and high. Regardless of your e-commerce vertical, a customer Will reunite if two things are right:
You reliably fulfill their needs (Customer Expertise)
They think of you in some time when they need. (Engagement)
This formula may feel a bit oversimplified, but it is useful to remind us that client retention strategies are not just about marketing. We are building the relationships with customers and they have to be able to trust our ability to fix their issues.
Looking first at the client experience and their requirements, when they arrive on your website, they already have the requirement or need. If we're lucky, this might be a demand for a very particular solution, or, if we're not, they have a more general problem which requires research and discovery. In both scenarios, a merchant's responsibility is to guide them during their journey, instruct them about the offering and give them the trust to enter into a relationship. Aside from that, the best thing to do is to stay out of the way by providing as frictionless an adventure as you can!
To achieve this, your focus must be on developing a high excellent User Experience (UX). This is a broad area that is fundamental to the design of the website so is not something which I will cover in this report. To summarise the website with a fantastic user experience will provide timely, precise and organized information as well as clear, prioritized and simple to use navigation and activity components.
It is imperative for every business to have a website. The more professional your website is, the more advantages you can gain.Having a website can build better relationships with your customers. You must consult good eCommerce website development company when you’re looking for the eCommerce website.
Along with providing a very low friction design, we need to give the customer assurance that we're trustworthy. There are lots of facets to the experience that may help here.
Moving on to the next requirement that was a customer considering this brand in a time of a new need, there are indirect and direct methods of supporting this. On the other hand, the other means of encouraging customer engagement shouldn't forget. Providing ways for customers to actively participate with the new by giving user-generated content features such as reviews will strengthen the bond.
The timing of reaching out to the users is more difficult to reach with email, but that could at least handled by customer segmentation that we'll talk about soon.
How do you identify what is wrong?
It can be hard to discover customer experience issues once we are expert website users, but it's far from hopeless. It takes us to stay humble rather than supposing that we understand everything. We should be open-minded, reflective, and empathetic to potential problems that people may have. Looking with fresh eyes can be easier once you have recent knowledge.
Second, there are some excellent free resources to educate yourself on user experience fundamentals. My favorite is the Baymard Institute, who are the undisputed experts in e-commerce UX using a wealth of study and studies which help us to understand better how clients interact with various pages and particular page components.
Finally, as part of any strategy, pick upon some KPIs to monitor the efficacy of the plan. I'd expect there to be KPIs for every area implemented and overall KPIs. At a top level, these KPIs would include comparing the principal KPIs of the variety of sessions, orders and therefore conversion rate between returning and new customers. I would also recommend tracking the customer lifetime value and hopefully, this will increase which will justify additional investment in acquisition! Then watch the growth cycle persist!
finally not on the list, Your current customer is the best asset your store has. They already know your brand, they know your products and they know your service. Focusing your time and energy on this group as opposed to always trying to find new customers can be a powerful way to supercharge revenues for your store, especially over the holiday season.

How Does DoorDash Works: DoorDash Business Model Revenue
Tumblr media
DoorDash has been making a lot of news lately. Everyone’s keen to learn how DoorDash works and what is their business model. Before we analyse that, it’d be interesting to understand the context.
Ingrid Lunden, TechCrunch News Editor, recently made a simple yet compelling statement, “Everybody loves delivery services. We’re getting everything delivered…”
In that one line, she probably encapsulated the entire delivery industry that wasn’t around, say, five years back. At least, not at this scale. You now have Uber for transportation, AirBnB for hospitality and Amazon in pretty much everything else. The list is impressive.
One of the names in the list that has also made it big is DoorDash; a company set up by Stanford University students Andy Fang, Stanley Tang, Tony Xu and Evan Moore in 2013. It is a delivery startup that currently delivers on-demand food from partner restaurants but is modeling itself to be a generalized logistics startup in the long run.
What Is The Core Concept of DoorDash
When you don’t look close enough, you think of DoorDash as a delivery company, perhaps a more extensive form of the delivery services your favorite restaurant offers. Or maybe you’d say DoorDash provides a platform for restaurants that have no delivery services of their own, inadequate or insufficient in-house seating facilities or a similar constraint.
That is an incomplete understanding of what DoorDash is.
At its core, DoorDash is a technology-deployment company; food-delivery is only one of the many things it can excel in once it gets a good grip on handling technology and excelling at logistics with the technology.
Xu, one of the co-founders, explained the business of DoorDash in a very insightful way, “We’ve done writing complicated software in the back to offer a simple and best-in-class experience to customers ”
Put differently; if your company too can deploy technology the same way, you also can grow your Food delivery business by becoming a technology-driven enterprise.
DoorDash Basic Facts
Headquartered in San Francisco, DoorDash was founded in February 2013. In September 2013, Khosla Ventures, which belongs to Vinod Khosla, co-founder Sun Microsystems, brought in USD 2.4m at the angel round funding.
Since then, DoorDash has been receiving funding from various organizations. The most recent funding, which was Series D funding of USD 535m by SoftBank, brings the total of funds raised to USD 721.7m. Its current investors include Khosla Ventures, Sequoia, SV Angel, Y-combinator, KPCB, and CRV. Read More… How Does DoorDash Works: DoorDash Business Model and How They Make Money
