You cant always force someone to like what you like. Even if you could always find a way, it would feel artificial and disingenuous. They wouldnt get the full enjoyment out of it if they had just found it on their own.

If i want someone to listen to a band i like and they just dont like the genre, or the singers voice, there is nothing in the world that can make them feel as strongly as i do. Maybe they think the bands ok, maybe they even like my favorite song! But the sheer scale of what that song means to me and the intensity of emotions that it invokes will remain entirely lost to them. Even if its the most beautifully crafted piece of art ever composed, some art just does not speak to some people in the same way that it does others.

And this kills me. This is something that brings me so so much joy, and i cant share it with you? It feels like a cruel joke. I delude myself into thinking its possible to get everyone on my side if i just insist hard enough. Push it on them hard enough. But it never turns out the way i want it. Its best to just stop trying and realize that everyone is different.

Its hard to come to terms with this idea. Ive struggled to find peace with this for so long, and im not any closer to getting it through my head, but the more i say it the more i believe it. Every single person will have different things that speak to them and that dont speak to them. Thats the beauty of free will.
