God has come to me again, saying, “Take a lamb, and with its blood, mark the lintel and posts of every door. For tonight, I shall pass through the land of Egypt and smite all the firstborn. But when I see the blood upon your door, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not enter.” THE PRINCE OF EGYPT (1998)

I send a pestilence and plague Into your house, into your bed Into your streams, into your streets Into your drink, into your bread Upon your cattle, on your sheep Upon your oxen in your field Into your dreams, into your sleep Until you break, until you yield I send the swarm, I send the horde Thus saith the Lord

Yes, Aaron, it’s true. Pharaoh has the power. He can take away your food, your home, your freedom. He can take away your sons and daughters. With one word, Pharaoh can take away your very lives. But there is one thing he cannot take away from you. Your faith. Believe. For we will see God’s wonders.

The thing about the Prince of Egypt is that you don't have to believe the story is true to enjoy it. In many ways, it's just a story about two brothers who loved each other so much. But then they were torn apart by the lie their father had created, and Moses left Rameses to deal with his father, and the pressure the man put on him
And then he comes back!! And Rameses is so, so happy to get his brother back. Even when Moses challenges him the first time he still believes Moses is here for him, and he's happy about that
But then they have their private conversation, and Rameses realizes-- he came back not for him, but so that he can fight back against him. And that definitely helps with the hardening of his heart like it says in Exodus. You can literally see him change as he hold the ring Moses gave back to him-- and then his eyes open, and he's not Rameses, Moses's brother any more.
He's Pharaoh, and he will not be the weak link his father thought he was. Not even for Moses

At the beginning of the movie, Moses looks like Ramses, his adoptive brother. It helps they're wearing matching outfits and Moses is wearing a wig with straight black hair that's more like the Egyptian characters. You can understand why he's incredulous at first when Miriam claims he's her and Aaron's brother. But once Moses loses the wig, grows his hair out, and both him and Aaron are wearing similar-ish clothes, the family resemblance between them is SUPER clear.

The ending of this movie is incredible. The people are free! We saw Rameses shouting Moses's name at the edge of the sea in direct parallel to when he was calling for him to come back in the beginning except this time it's in pure rage! We end playing Deliver Us while Moses comes down Mount Sinai with the Ten Commandments! And the last part is Yocheved, singing the line "Deliver Us"
CHILLS. MAN THIS MOVIE IS AMAZING IT'S ONE OF THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME EVERYONE SHOULD WATCH IT

Back at the beginning of the summer 2020 I was rewatching The Prince of Egypt, crying a lot of course, and then I thought of the au where Ramesses conformed after all and let the people go
I believe I’ve never posted this picture here because idk I felt insecure about it
